Is it possible somehow to save your replays???? Not only watch them for about 180 sec but save "fully" replays and watch them whenever you want.

GAH! NO ONE HAS THIS GAME! I'm gonna order it from EB's website tomorrow, have it shipped 1-day air lol... :)

Hey man it's worth it, though to get 10, much less 70+ cars on the track with shutter-free performance in your own car takes a better PC than I have.
But it's just a PC800 P3. lol I'm gonna get a new socket 939 AMD system with RAID drives just so I can race this game right. 👍 I have a killer AGP card, but AGP even looks like it might get obsolete with PCI-E boards.

Once you see and hear GTR (like I did for the first time 5 weeks after getting GT4) The platstation just feels and plays like a toy for kids.

No offense to anyone, but GT4 is a game and GTR is a machine. Go for the machine!

So what system is everyone playing GTR on? Any socket 939 users here? 💡

exactly, but GT4 is still fun, from time to time

Yes, a killer machine. But wait untill GT Legends will be released or GTR2 with the new engines, then GTR will be obsolete and not worth playing anymore

My system if you're interested:
Gigabyte motherboard: K8-Triton nforce4 SLI s939
AMD Athlon 64 bit, 3500
1024 ram
660GT (1x) PCI-E 128 mb (256 mb wasn't available at that time)
I am waiting for the 6800 ultra to get cheaper. Need 2 of these cards to run GT Legends and GTR2 for sure. At this moment my computer is way fast enough to get a smooth GTR!!!
1280x1024x32, FSAAx4 and full option (ingame), dashboard view => between 60 and 95 fps
1024x768x32 same settings, dash view ==> more than 100 fps
800x600x32, same settings, bonnet view ==> more than 215 fps
all free runs without other cars on track.
It is not the fastest configuration but it has to do for now and the next 6 years.

I am still waiting for nVidia to develop a very powerfull triple head card with SLI compatibility and
a holographic LCD screen ==> real 3D view for sure with this technology. Without using a shutter glasses or HMD or red green glasses.

What does pwns means??

I think it's supposed to mean "owns", never understood the meaning behind mispelling it with a P.

Dude, your rig rocks! My 5900 ultra AGP card will never do the game justice regardless of what 939 MB/RAM/SATA RAID I use, hugh? Damn this GPU is like 1 year old and already it's obsolete?

I hear DFI is soon to release a Lanparty 939 MB with an AGP slot & working AGP/PCI locks, I'm hoping & waiting on that.

The P came around after "owned" came to the rest of the online world. The "P" stands for "Player Owned."

Thanks for clearing that up for me!!! 👍
Me stupid Belgian!!!

By the way, I don't think SLI motherboards are the future. The salesman didn't understand me correctly. I just asked him for advice around the SLI motherboards and he thought I was ordering one :scared: but I didn't, I wasn't. I am very pleased with the performances of this PC (8 audio channels, 7.1 surround onboard)

I was just looking for some general impressions. Worthless? Neat but who cares? A whole different racing experience? Etc.

I am about to get the game for myself, but a few questions about AI.

Ok, so you know how in Practice, Qualifying, and Warm-up, you can montior and watch the other cars while yours' sits in the garage, right?
Well, one thing I'd love to do is watch the cars go around while the AI drives mine.

Simply, this was my favorite thing to do in Sports Car GT PC.
I could practice around a course, switch drivers, and then watch the pack race.
Unfornately, I couldn't watch an actual race because it would mean pitting, switching, and falling back.

But in GTR, I can switch to AI during the race. So, am I able to watch a full race in the monitor mode with my car racing with the AI WITHOUT me just sitting there and only being able to watch my car from the views?
Because, that gets boring and makes me take over.

I am figuring it is because in the Demo V2m, after a race, I saw the finishing times and such and to the right was Monitor faded out, with Finish race faded out.

SO, am I able to watch the race while my AI drives my car? I mean, like actually watch the race, switching cars and such?

Thanks!

EDIT: And for your pleasure, I introduce a few tracks including the 24Hours of Le Mans, and at the bottom, Grand Valley Speedway from GT4.

Enjoy!

Yes, as the race starts switch to AI control. At any point during the race you can change what car you're watching, you can use TV style camera angles ect.

So how do I change the car I want to watch?

Do I have to bring up the menu? And if so, how? I configured it to be Enter, but it has no effect. Maybe its the Demo V2.

I'm not sure of the key from the top of my head, but when I gethome I'll take a look for you. Might not be in the demo, but I'll double check it allwhenI get in.

Which one of the real FIA GTR cars uses powershifting, (sequential shifting)???

If there are cars with sequential gearboxes, then GTR isn't really up to date. In manual (gearbox) mode (ingame), I tried to shift without using the clutch. You can see and hear the revs going up when I upshift. If the real GTR cars have sequential gearboxes, they can shift gears without releasing the throttle (in RL) and without using the clutch.
Or GTR (sim) is using the data from older GTR cars (RL) or GTR (sim) has a huge shifting bug.

Errrrrr, sequencial is not the same for semi-automatic. They don't use the clutch when switching gears (only when choosing first to get the car going), but they have to blip the throttle to have a better change (that's why there's auto-blip in the aids department).

Nevermind, live. I found it. Its + to go up a position (1-2) or - to go down a position (2-1) on the Num. Pad.

But thank you for your help.
Now if I could only get the stupid AI to pit when he's low on fuel.

I know that but race cars with a classical manual gearbox shift gears, applying full throttle, not using the clutch. In Europe you have the Renault Clio cup. These cars have a normal gearbox with a sequential shifter. They don't blip the throttle. They just pull back the shifter to upshift, applying full throttle, without using the clutch. I know this because a friend of mine owns a Renault Clio team and he told me this. And I watched these cars driving an a track, many times. You can actually hear these cars shifting at full throttle without using a clutch. These cars have nothing to do with semi automatic like you mentioned!!!!!! And nor my question!!!!!!!!! When they are driving slow (not racing) they shift like a normal road car (except they don't use an H pattern shifter, like a road car, they just pull back on the shifter).
I asked this question on another forum and a former member of Simbin wrote that almost all the new FIA GTR cars (RL) have sequential gearboxes (no flaps behind the wheel), just a stick. So what I was trying to say, if these RL FIA GTR cars have sequential carsboxes, why doesn't have GTR (game) have sequential gearboxes??? I am using the speed7 with clutch and use, all the time, manual shifting. When I try to simulate sequential shifting in GTR (manual mode, not semi automatic), you see and hear the revs going up, resulting in overrevving the engine, which means that sequential shifting is not in GTR (game).
Or the 2003 championship didn't have cars with sequential gearboxes or GTR has a shifting bug.
www.creationsport.com :
choose "video", scroll down and get the 5th video which is called: donnington 2003, "creation drivers". Listen to what he has got to say about shifting without using the clutch!!!!!!!!!!!!! ==> About 1 min 28 sec. He says they apply full throttle while shifting and not blipping the throttle like you said :)

**EDIT: Before I forget, I am talking about race cars (track and rally), not road cars. Road cars have indeed semi automatic or automatic gearboxes which can be sequential operated, except BMW M3, Ferrari and other pure race road cars, they have manual gearboxes which can be sequential shifted and the clutch is electronically operated, not by the driver**

I just installed the game again and I've fallen in love, again.

Such a good game. I need a new processor though... Simply cannot play the game with AI, the game goes into slideshow mode.

@ kikie

The present sim - GTR depicts the 2003 season and some rules have been changes since then for eg, traction control is now allowed - but only because it is hard to police a rule that dissallows it.

But the game's use of the clutch is not accurate.

If you select auto clutch from the options, then you can power shift up the box and you dont have to blip down. which actually is most accurate from a driving/racing point of view, - this requires no use of the clutch pedal at all.

If you use manual clutch - then this makes the game more emercive as you have to use the clutch when moving from a standstill (tho GTR has rolling starts) and also you have to release the throttle on upshifts and blip on downshifts - or you will unsettle the car.
This is not accurate as the real drivers only use the clutch for moving from a standstill or when leaving the pits for example.

I have my clutch mapped to 9 oclock on the DFP hat switch with neutral mapped to 3 oclock for ease of use - but I have to blip and dip on gearchanges. - using a manual clutch - even mapped to a button, is a big help in getting out of the gravel

Takes a little practice to get used to it but I would never use auto clutch again, tho I would advise its use for a newb, till u get used to the car and controls.

 Slideshow mode... that's cute. At least yours does that. :grumpy:

That is just what I thought but i wasn't sure, thank you.

Using the speed7 (pedals with clutch), I always blip when shifting down (try to learn it and still don't know if I am doing it correctly).Watching video from RL driver (their fancy footwork) and listing to the engine during replay (also watching the rev counter), I think I've got it right. :indiff:

I don't use a manual clutch, it wouldn't feel right anyway, as someone said before the clutch is only used to leave the pits and to stop or start.
