Sunday Season 7: Mixed Class LMP1/GT3 Series (12 races)


(STARTS FEBRUARY 12th)

Race starts at 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.

30 minute practice, 30 minute qualification, 5 minute warm up, approximately 1 hour long (lap-based) race with mandatory pitstop.

Car selection & livery (paint job/number) will be used for entire series. You are not allowed to switch vehicles once the first race day begins.

No assists/full damage/real tire wear/real fuel use/penalties & flags on.

We will do a standing start race based on the green light (NOT a rolling/formation lap start to the race)

*** Reminder: Due to rain and/or night races at some tracks, remember to assign headlight and wiper buttons. ***

To get us used to running a mixed class series, our first track will be an "easy one" at Monza GP with plenty of room to pass. It will be schedluled for 45 laps (LMP1s will run 45, but due to lap time differences between the classes, GT3 will probably only get to lap 40/41). There will be dual pole position and race winners and it will be based on the class you are running. Points will be separated by class. The LMP1 drivers will be responsible for safely getting around the GT3 class. Due the closing speed differential, do not plan on GT3s being able to move out of the way for the faster LMP1s. All racers should respect those battling for position and do what they can not to disrupt the flow of the race, so remember to stay aware of what is happenening around you. If the car coming up on you isn't a green or red dot on your track map, you are not racing with them for postion, so please be courteous and let them pass and don't try to "race" with them.

Me too! The practice races we did were awesome. Running a GT3 racing for position against another GT3 down the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans at night, hitting 185 mph when all of a sudden LMP1s running nose-to-tail at 200+ mph rocket past is incredible to experience.
 
I've been doing the math and will calculate how many each class will do. I've tried timed races before but people didn't seem to like it (they seemed to struggle trying to figure out the times to pit & strategies for fuel and tires).

So for Monza, LMP1s will do 45 laps, which based on lap times, GT3s will do 40 (possibly 41 for the really fast drivers). If that doesn't go as planned, I'm ok with timed races if the majority agrees.

Depending on the track, there will be a -8% to -12% variance in the amount of laps run in GT3s to account for the lap times of the 2 different classes.

gonna be fun trying to sort out fuel loads in the GT3s, i must try and drive a couple of cars this week, find something i haven't raced maybe
 
Just FYI - the GTE cars, aka - Corvette & Aston Martin, have different tire compounds from the GT3 class in PCars. The Corvette and Aston Martin GTE versions will always be slower than the other GT3 cars because of the tire compound differences.

@GUTTERBOY3007 ram mount, good call, never thought of that, use one on my bike as well..lol...

struggling with a choice of GT3, logic says Z4 but i feel i should broaden my horizons and drive something different, at the moment its between the Z4, the caddi or the ruf....... what to do.......


oh and the kill button is a hack i found, fits laser lock guided missiles to any car on a rotating turret, adds a little weight and screws up the aerodynamics a touch but eliminating the opposition outweighs those little things...

Sure. That might mean running an LMP1 or a GT3, depending on who you are filling in for. Are you ok with that? If so, please post what car (make, model and livery - "paint job and number") you want to take as an LMP1 and a GT3.
