There are so many great games coming out over the coming months, that I will just pre-occupy myself until GT5 releases.

I'm so glad I'm not one of those "I only play GT games" people. I would probably shoot myself lol.

You're on a GT forum, of course the people haven't lost interest otherwise they wouldn't be here :p

I'd say I'm "losing" interest. If GT5 had of come out at the end of last year or been announced for mid-2010 or even announced for late-2010, I would have bought a PS3 by now. As time goes on and I become less interested in GT5, my "entertainment" money that has been burning a hole in my pocket is more likely to be spent upgrading my PC, TV or monitors (eyefinity ;) ).

Sure, it's fun and all to have this flirty affair with details being released about this game... I think all of us would be satisfyed if the game was released last christmas or the spring... But a Q4 2010 release date??? That's unacceptible in a market as fast-paced as the videogame industry...
That being said, I remember how long PD delayed the release of GT4, but I don't think it was as long as this!

If this game isn't PERFECT when it is released, I am going to be really disapointed... Let's just hope we don't all die of old age before that happens...

+10

I too remember the many delays and long wait for GT4 (though compared to GT5......)
Having picked it up and started from scratch again, there are soo many little things (and some big ones) that to me, a "perfectionist" should not have allowed..

Still be playing the balls off it when it eventually comes, though! :sly:

Loosing interest, definitely, mainly due to the limited amount of tracks on offer. But having a brief crack at tracks like Tokyo and Fugi during the GT Academy makes the wait much easier, let me tell you.

We may have endured delays with GT4, but nothing on the scale of GT5.

In comparison we had been playing GT4 for almost a year at the same 5 yr juncture we are now at with GT5.

Assuming it comes out near the end of 2010, it will have taken a year and nine months longer than GT4.

Under the circumstances, how could you not lose interest.

Maybe by getting on with life, as well as enjoying other games that are out and are coming out on PS3...

There is a HUGE difference between losing interest in something and being frustrated at having to wait. I have never been more frustrated at having to wait for a game to launch, but the very fact I am here, writing in response to your post, shows that I have not lost interest. I would argue that anybody who cares enough to visit this site and its forums regularly has not lost interest.

If you have lost interest, you will not buy it when it comes out. Something tells me that will not be the case...

same. most of us are going to "lose interest" in waiting for the game to come out... but when that glorious day comes... we will all be inline at the videogame store waiting to buy it!

Not exactly. Some people just don't care about rumours and confirmations anymore, and that's what they mean about losing interest in the game. That doesn't mean they will not buy it when it comes out.

I don't know if that makes sense to you, though.

Has anyone lost interest in this game?

The question contains part of the answer in a lot of cases.
1) You see it as a game, there are other games out there, so why be interested in this game that is not there.
2) You see it as the real driving simulator and love racing, then you will be waiting till it gives you the new thrill. OK some other simulators are better in certain points, but Gran Turismo certainly has its strengths too and most people are here because they love the strong points of the Gran Turismo series.

You say you lost interest, but I can guarentee that you'll be all over GTP closer to the release date. And I bet you'll be right there the day it comes out to buy it. You'll gain interest back when GT5 becomes more relevent.

Good point, I'm positive the same will happen with me, right now there are so many great games out like Drakes, Mass Effect2, FM3, and Bioshock2 to keep me entertained. I bet as soon as FM3 wheres thin I get re-hyped up for GT5.👍

I have, I'll just buy it one day when I see it on shelves.

I mean, GT is insane, but it has taken too long into the PS3's lifespan to release.

You are right, but thats the main reason many of us are so sick and tired of this waiting game and the huges gaps in time between new info, and of course the fact that there is pretty much zero fan communication with PD. I've been playing FM3 since launch, its also got its strong points, as well as many bad points, but at least its out. I hope there are way more strong points for GT5 when it comes out , then bad ones, or many fans will be leaving I fear.

Bored of waiting : Yes
Interested in the game : Yes
Waiting for every update on the News pages : No

At the moment I come to the forum for the F1 and PS3 sections... I glance in here every now and then to see if there's something I missed.

I have lost a lot of interest and I will probably get a lot of interest when GT5 finally does come out. Kind of like loosing interesting in Xmas all year only to get it again when xmas comes around.

However you can definitely believe that the delay will have an effect in my interest, what I will expect and what I will consider satisfactory when the time comes.

No. I haven't lost any intrest, I just ignore everything and wait until it comes out. It's annoying yes, but I have no control over it so I'm just going to wait until It's out.

It sort of has, I felt as though we were going to get something big at the E3, and now we are waiting for the next E3 with even less evidence pointing to big news compared to last year, which is quite disappointing and I'm not even worried when the game will come out now and sadly Iam looking more forward to the New Zelda launching on the wii. But it will be a day one buy but meh couldn't care less about it until a few weeks before launch.

I haven't lost interest, i'm just patiently waiting for it to release, by playing other games and living my life.

Lot of people have already mentioned this probably that if GT5 keeps getting thrown foward, than it will lose lots of fan's interest.

Yes I have lost interest. Does that mean I won't be buying it the day it comes out? No.

I just won't be giving a **** about the game until a week before it's released.

So why are you visiting a site about GT and posting in forums if you have lost interest and don't give a **** about the game?

People seem to confuse "frustration" with "losing interest". If you have lost interest in the game, you will not buy it when it comes out. The fact that you said you will buy it, and are posting here, means that you have not lost interest.

I'm glad that there is less information.Knowing all about the GOOD game before you play it is worst scenario happening in gaming world. And if there is situation like mine - I couldn't play PS3 it before july - it becomes even good. But moving release date is very bad too...

I have always loved the GT series, it was the first video game series that I became interested in. It is one of the greatest, but at the same time, frustrating game series. GT5 has been in development for 5 years, what can be taking them so long? When Kaz said "we can release the game at any time", I got excited, I thought the game must be released soon, so imagine my dissapointment when I first heard "March 2010 for Japan", then my even bigger dissapointment when I heard that it has been pushed back to fall 2010. What makes the wait worse is that PD haven't given us a reason for the delays. If PD said "we have delayed the game so that we can add weather/more cars etc.", then I wouldn't mind so much, but we have not heard a peep from them. What PD are also doing is letting their competiton get more profits, a bigger fanbase (some may even be former GT fans) and allow the competiton to get ahead.

I have recently been playing Forza Motorsport 3, and I have to say it is a very good game. If I was not such a big fan of GT, then I would have given up on GT by now. In the time it is taking to release one GT on PS3, there have been 2 Forza's released on 360.

What I'm trying to say is that PD need to stop being such perfectionists and just release the game now. They can add all the cars they want through DLC, and in turn make a tidy profit even after GT5 has hit shelves. I honestly don't think there will be a GT6 on PS3, they haven't even released GT5 yet and the PS3 is already halfway through it's life cycle.

I was gonna say that my interest has moved onto mass effect 2 but the game only held me over for a week.

Quite the contrary. I'm very excited about GT5. I half expected it to be another GT4 with better graphics, but GT5 will have realistic damage, day/night cycles, (weather?), cockpits for every car and lots more. Honestly I can't wait to see all this stuff in a GT game. Realistic damage and night races should add a completely new layer to the game experience.

Unfortunately, this isn't the situation. Many people paying close attention to SONY's antics have concluded that GT5 is being held up by the marketing gurus at SONY Japan, who control everything. Another likely possibility are a few game companies with titles they'd like to see do well in initial sales such as God of War III, Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII. Initial sales do a lot for a game's reputation, and in this global economy, gamers are counting their pennies a bit more. Add to this, the fact that many gamers who buy a Gran Turismo game don't even touch another game for weeks or months, and I can see why even games in much different genres could be hurt badly by the release of GT5. Heck, when GT5 releases, I'm going to become a hermit for a month or so, and my other games will definitely be put off or will be collecting dust in the meantime.

Yet another factor is the scheduling of major releases towards the holidays, where initial sales are much higher. This is actually rather stupid, because a game with the guaranteed sales of GT5 will do well no matter when it's released. GT4 was available in America in late February 2005, and sold incredibly well. In fact, it was SONY's biggest selling title within the first six months of its release. Like Metal Gear Solid 4, it could be released in the summer and still sell very well, but that decision is out of our hands.

The marketing department are the guys who convinced the heads at SONY to force Kazunori to work on GT PSP and get it out the door, when he wanted to release GT5 first. We have to hope that SONY has mercy on us for a spring or summer release.

I'm still very excited for the game but the constant lack of any details of the game is really getting to me. Coupled with the fact that i just signed up for iRacing this week and I also play rFactor, Race07/GTR Evo/Race On, LFS and Forza 3 kind of takes away from my excitment. The thing is I bought my wheel last summer in anticipation of GT5 and to play GT5:P, the wait helped with my decision to pick up some PC sims and now I'm hooked!
