Has forza planet been abandoned? (No!)

Nifty! 👍

So the ForzaPlanet forums will appear as a subforum on GTPlanet, and I'll have a post count of 6876 (5949 + 927)? What happens with things like signatures and avatars? Just curious, I can fiddle with that myself. :)

Is there a way to search for "Latest Posts" within certain subforums, like the ForzaPlanet section? I just tried and the search engine wants a keyword. I use that feature every time I log in, it'd be kind of a drag if it was stuffed to the limit with posts from the GT5 forum and whatnot.

One of the reasons I've been hiding out here is because it's easier to keep track of activity.

That's correct, your post counts on each site will be added together. Your avatar and other account settings at GTPlanet will take precedence over those of your ForzaPlanet account, if there is any type of conflicting information between them.

You can customize and bookmark your own "Latest Posts" search results; see here for more info. Note that you can replace the "exclude" URL parameter mentioned in my post there with "include" to restrict the results to a particular set of forum IDs.

So its pretty much going back to how it was before Forzaplanet was created. Its understandable since this site was never very active. It was a pretty good community for the most part.

I don't have a 360 but might as well make a post in Forza Planet as mirror universe Robin before we become one :sly:

It will be great to welcome so many 'new' members to GTP who are actually quite established here.

I have nothing better to say other than I played Forza 4 at my uncle's house last week. The weird back story is that he's never been into video games; funny in a way, because he graduated with a computer science degree back in 1982, and has worked exclusively in the field ever since (although in chip architecture and non-gaming programming stuff).

He had some chest muscle surgery about six months ago, which left a giant scar, and the doctor's orders were to stay seated (or lie down flat) for six weeks. No stretching, no exercise, no physical activity, no repeated getting-up for any reason. After a week of playing around with an iPad and getting bored, he bought an Xbox and found a racing rig consisting of with a metal frame and adjustable seat (not sure of what type/brand), and a Fanatec wheel (with metal paddle shifters, again not exactly sure of the type). Hook it all up to a 60" TV, and he found himself immersed in a video game for the first time ever.

He really enjoyed a few weeks playing the game, but went back to being a nature fan again after he'd healed, and only plays it sporadically again (i.e. after a few drinks with his buddies). So I was in the area, and I played about 5 or 6 two-lap races. Managed to put my silver xD on its roof at the 'Ring, and smash out all the windows. By contrast, I was able to pilot the Nissan R390 to victory at a Twinty (Two, Not Four) Laps (Not Hours) of Le Mans after a pass at the Porsche Curves. Also, a 12th in a Morgan, two 10th, and 9th places.

Despite having an more interesting stable of real-life machinery than myself, he'd never thought much of motor racing; after I explained a little bit about car setup, strategy, and some of the physics (he was blown away by the flood of data in the replays -- so was I!), he came to really understand and appreciate somewhat the complexity of racing as a sport and technique. Darn it, I really want one now. Or at least, I might buy Forza next time I'm bored, since my daughter received an Xbox as a gift (she likes Minecraft).

Well, see you all at GTPlanet. Stop on by and meet some new folks, or re-introduce yourself to...yourself. :)

It'd be awesome to see you online Pupik; I never got to race you in a real sense way back in the earlier GT's 👍

I'd just like to apologize to the folks here I may have let down when I dropped the Photomode competitions. The combination of the lack of entries and a much busier real-life situation spelled out the end of most of my free time here, and as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, I have the same things on the go over at GTP, which takes priority if something does indeed have to be cut.

It'll be handy to have both sites under one roof; from a moderator perspective, it'll be much more efficient. I do enjoy the general atmosphere here though; it's more laid-back, and due to the makeup of our core membership (that is, mostly GTP'ers), there's far less bickering about the great, endless VS debate, since most people involved have actually spent a good chunk of time with both. But even looking past that, everyone here is friendly, and the community has spit out some mighty useful resources (the paint thread, Wolfe's atlas, etc etc).

When the merger does happen, I know I'll still see most of you in the Forza section (especially as we should be expecting some big news this year...), but I also hope to see you around in the Rumble Strip too. Maybe, just maybe, I can have another scavenger hunt soon :p

Um. Guys? Hello?

Just kidding. When this site first came out I was drawn to it just because it was so much better than the Official FM Community website.

There wasn't too much traffic and there weren't many people bashing others for not knowing something. I kind of fell out of posting on Forza Planet and the Official FM forums in general... I don't know. I just lost interest in discussing things that are known to most people, and arguing over which is better (GT5 v. FM4).

If something excited comes up I'll start checking FP out more often.

No. This is all but a dream -- a dream in which you're drunk.

On second thought, maybe this isn't a dream...

Now you're just screwing with me. :odd:

OK, I'm drunk (have been for around 18 hours now), but I've never seen this thread before, I thought it had carried over from FP.

It was carried over from FP, Shem. :)

Looks like there is going to be mass migration both ways.

Welcome back, you folks who are were GTPers (that's a word?) to start with - but I'm sure there are some of you that never frequented GTP, and may have begun following Jordan via ForzaPlanet.

I hope you thrive and grow here, and even while developing the Forza Subforums here now, you will also stretch your legs and have a look around at the rest of this little big planet.

So - to answer the question in the OP - No. 'Jordan's' Forza hasn't been abandoned; in fact it seems to have finally returned 'Home'. And will be all the richer for it.

Put the glass down, Shem.

Success!

Don't worry Shem, things will be sorted soon enough.

All is going well I assume?

Seems like my internet home is getting an extension or an annex. It's like having the builders in.

No one knows what you're talking about Shem.

Go back to sleep. :p

Hey,

1. I only woke up a few hours ago!

2. I am at home!

3. I'm bigger and scarier than the internet!

4. No.3 is probably not true.

I think your avatar should explain all of your expressions.

Welcome to the Forza-ites, and I will say that I do respect your choice of game - Forza is actually amazing (I don't care for the system [the controller design is horrible for my hands], but that's water under the table.)

Enjoy your time here!

(Oh, and drop the can of the adult beverage and get to bed, Shem.

Ah yes, Marvin the paranoid android. There you are, Shem, brain the size of a planet...
