I'm still waiting for Seattle Circuit. I thought they said that was going to be a DLC course.

It's always the same.

"GT5 prologue is just the stepping stone to a great, full GT5"
"GT5 is the first full PS3 game, it's like an operating system they can build on for 6. The second full game is always better"
"GT6 is basically a platform for the next gen game, that will be the real killer game"

And on. And on. And on. Until GT is dead because people finally got fed up of putting up with PD.

Somebody who's been around GTP longer will be able to answer, but did GT1 and GT4 have the same level of apologism going on for them?

Those games weren't without flaws, and while they were better regarded than GT5 and GT6 I imagine on some level there were still complaints. Was it standard practise when someone found something wrong with say, GT2, for someone else to pop up yelling "Leave Britney PD alone!"?

Weren't you also sure about GT6?
Not really. For one thing, I've been all about moving Gran Turismo onto PS4 ASAP, so when I heard that it was going to be coming out on PS3 after all, I was quite deflated. I knew all those goodies I'd posted above would be impossible, and most likely damage and bigger sounds too. I was with Scaff in thinking the GT6 engine would have to be shortsheeted in several areas to free up Cell processor resources so other stuff like particle effect jaggies could be fixed. Whatever it ended up being, I knew it wouldn't be close to the glory possible on PS4.

Now they did surprise me with a lot of stuff. A nicely improved tire and physics model is just the start. And listen, I was anxious for ANYTHING to get me away from GT5's XP system, the paintless paint shop, the drive clogging Museum Cards... there are 15 or 20 "Kaz, what were you thinking!" items on my grouch list, including the half baked online system. So I was pretty happy to get my hands on it. Of course, then the added features and DLC failed to manifest so far... :p So GT6 is quite a mixed bag. Very fun (for me) racing, but lots of goodies missing in action, and once again, a discouragingly short game, seems even shorter than GT5.

Quick edit before bed: thinking about it a bit, I did expect GT6 to be the best GT to date, and in some ways it still is. But right now, it feels about as rough and unfinished as a game gets, so... wonder when E3 is. :D

..and what if they're not. Then what?
Well, I have been impressed with what PD have done on PS3. I want more on PS4 of course, much more. And supposedly, people who have seen some of PD's PS4 work have been excited about something. So even if my dream wishlist doesn't manifest, the move onto that big bad system is going to hit me right in the pleasure center. Where it hits you is for you to judge.

And seriously, who actually believes that Kaz isn't going to push the PS4 as hard as he can to see how much it roars?

I understand how you feel about the whole GT6 on PS4 thing...but:

1. There's no guarantee that GT6 on PS4 wouldn't have ended up in even worse shape than GT6/PS3 is feature wise.

2. There would be far less content assuming all the "standard" tracks and cars were left out and you know how much people are on about 1200+ cars and all the old standards in the game, in a positive way I mean.

Many people are assuming that the PS3 is such a huge problem and that's part of the reason we don't have all the promised features yet, but it's nowhere near guaranteed the PS4 will resolve all the issues the franchise now has out of sheer firepower. Computing muscle doesn't change game design by itself, doesn't magically make better AI, doesn't magically generate the online features we are looking for. It only makes them "possible" and many of them were possible on PS3 with a different philosophy. Without a big change in their approach and vision for the game, I fear we'll just get more of the same, but it'll look better and run smoother..maybe.

Let's cherish this quote for PS4's lifecycle shall we? I'm sure we can use it for the next 5 years 👍

Have any gaming news sites mentioned the lack of updates and new content for Gran Turismo 6, or is it just thst GTPlanet is only disgruntled with the game, which represents a small portion of the people who play GT6?

We over here have GTHQ.nl it's a Dutch but you could turn on Google translate(in Chrome) ...
It mostly contains the same stuff .. only the tone is a bit more demanding towards PD
and there are more sites like these ... but this is the biggest I think in the Netherlands ...

If you just mean general gaming websites ... they could care less ... they live and breath through what the developers send them ... they don't want that to stop ... so they'll never be negative in the same degree as we are ...

Well, one thing that wouldn't be a factor is SONY pushing PD to make a game for PS5 yet. ;)

For some things yes, for some things, no. The resource budget for PS4 over 3 is immense, and that budget lets you do more stuff, like the difference between having $10 million versus $100 million. Some technical things, you're right like damage and engine sound, even wind noise, PD is behind the curve. Some things like the Livery Editor they haven't touched yet. And for two games - well, the whole series really, we haven't had a solid coherent racing strategy, that philosophy thing.

Kaz does need to sit down and think through what it is to be a race car driver and how to progress, and how that can be made fun in GT7. He has a fantastic model, GT Academy and how it blends into the pro racing world, but it depends on how much he wants to get into that racing sim field. Ha can do it, he just needs to give it a shot.

One thing I dont get is sites will bang on and on about "fans still wanting gta dlc" when that games gets FREE dlc like every 1-2 months, GT6 has had next to nothing for 4 months and they don't mention it at all.

i voted "no" on the basis that they are still giving us a seasonals every little while....other than that, it does feel like we aren't getting what we paid for.

I have said it numerous times in different threads, the most frustrating thing is the lack of information and or timelines regarding promised content, DLC and bug fixes.

We have just finished our first season in our Australian Leagues, and NONE of the bugs that were highlighted in our test sessions BEFORE the season started have been addressed. That is upwards of 12 weeks or 3 months, where bugs that brake the online portion of the game are still there. for our 70 odd drivers it is extremely frustrating :boggled:

Along with the lack of updates / bug fixes is the inconsistency with the stability of the servers. getting booted from rooms, or the server in general for no apparent reason is a killer..... heres hoping that with the GT5 server shutdown the Gt6 servers will be much more stable.

My favourite course! But as I heard it is too complicated for the PS-3 engine (flickering glimmering air), which is quite different from the PS-2 hardware. On PS-2, this flickering effect was easier to show. PS-3 has more power and more speed, but some disadvantages vs PS-2...

By the way, they don`t give us any contents shown in trailers... they give us the trailers!:grumpy:

I dont think they abdoned it, but what I can't understand why in the world it is so hard to give any information about the missing content? Not telling anything at all doesn't really show quality...

If I tell my customers, you get your ordered things around wednesday, and there are delivery problems and I don't even call them to tell it's delayed. At some point they gonna call and ask me for their goods, and I say the next week oh there are delivery problems, they would say :nice communication why you didn't inform me? Keep your stuff I seach someone else...
thats how business works nowadays because there is enough others, but PD will feel it themselves... just keep doing it

is currently abandoned.
track editor was 100 km ², after 10 km2, and even at the moment 0 km2.
just to name one thing.

and since there are fulfilling what was promised, they should at least give a satisfaction.

GT6 is just a Prologue for GT7 Prologue. Unfortunately GT7 Prologue will probably be a huge gaff as well. I'm sure Kaz can't wait to see the look on our faces when we're playing a game which 80% of the cars are from a gaming era TWO generations ago.

Just to answer the question, I don't think this game's on hold, I imagine it's like 25% of their people are on this game, and the rest are on the paid demo they going to screw us with in a year. Remember their studio doesn't have that many people.

You know, I think what could really save GT6 (as a person who believes it needs saving/rejigging), is a very very soon spec 2.0, much like GT5s, maybe even a 1.5, you know actually finish the game they said they'd deliver at launch, idk, that might actually be enough to get us not bored for some months at the very least.

Oh, and here's a thought, BRING BACK SEASONALS PD.

I haven't played GT6 fora a weeks. Since even before 1.05 update i believe. Simply because there's no real anserw for requests of the fans. I'm really dissapointed to watch GT series be in such bad condition. If PD abandons GT, then everybody will.

Amazes me the sheer number of PD apologist on this forum.

Well you'd expect a debate to have two sides wouldn't you?

I'm sorry if you were expecting a whitewash of anti-PD sentiment, but there's already a thread for that.

Personally, I voted no, not because I'm blinded by love for Kazunori or PD but because such a complete failure to deliver has yet to happen in the video game industry to my recollection. I may yet be proven wrong however, and I also concede that they've already failed to an extent, in that any major updates will be too late for those who have already abandoned the game.

If course editor, B-spec, active camber, realistic drag effect and much more and longer championships aren't implemented in the next 2-3 months, GT6 will be the biggest failure by far for PD. I wait to see and then decide if I buy it.

You still haven't shown any evidence Sony were pushing for a PS4 game during PS3 development. None at all, but you push it as a reason for GT6's failures.

Yeah, it's all their fault. PD were going to make an amazing PS4 game but after reading that a few hundred people online wanted a PS3 game they just changed their mind and it all went wrong.....

Yeah, no. The only people to blame are PD.

Many of GT6 technical shortcomings are because of the hardware. I'm having a hard time believing it would be a worse game then GT6. I'm fine with the game as it is, it's just sad to see all that development time go into a product that could have been better. Plus you know, had soft sales(not that we as gamers should care, but it will no doubt have an inpact of some kind at PD HQ).
