IS NICE!

Woot, meeting 3 people in 1.

Too bad she's really old now.

Wow, some great stories and spots so far. I had no idea GTP members would have seen so many famous people. Even some A-listers in the mix.

👍

Keep them coming. Good reading!

I've met David Hasselhoff in early/mid 80's. he and KITT were part of some sort of exhibition or similar that was touring the europe back then. my brother got to sit in KITT, that lucky SOB.. :grumpy:

I met Greg Norman last year when he came to open the Moonta golf course, missed his autograph by about 10 people in line. :ouch:

man do I live in a good place Go P-Town!
I can contribute a bit to the legacy of Portland....

NBA(basketball):

Jermaine O'Neal - Maybe the first NBA player I've actually met. He was shopping at Washington Square(mall), and when he overheard me kind of freaking out(this is embarrasing, as I'm a lot older than he is....), he turned around to say hi, shake our hands, chat for little bit. Such a nice guy, and he's just so genuine.

Briefly met Kevin Duckworth, Shawn Kemp, Antonio Harvey. Saw Sergio Rodriguez/Jarret Jack/LaMarcus Aldridge/Coach Nate at the Blazers fanfest. Got their auto(except Sergio's :( ), got to ask LaMarcus about his injury he had at the time.

OK, now onto couple of names that Non-Blazer fans might be familiar with:

Tommy Lee Jones & Benicio Del Toro, I saw at the Blazers game(God bless me). They were in town filming an horrible film, and they stuck around after the game. Bunch of ignorant idiots were calling "Tommy Lee!", "Who the hell is he? Oh, I love you Benicio!" 👎

Being smarter than an average cookie(and huge fan of both actors), I yell "Mr. Jones!" in a professional manner, thinking that I will sound either like one of his people, or one of the Arena personnel. "Mr. Jones" turns right around, and approached me with a big smile on his face. By the way, I can't talk in front of famous people. I believe I told both actors something along the lines of "I'm a big fan", "I love your movies". They thought it was pretty funny, because they both cracked up.

This next one isn't as big, but I've shaken hands with Gem Archer of Oasis. This time around, I literally couldn't talk. I was at my first Oasis concert(huge fan), and Gem Archer and Andy Bell were walking right thru the crowd! Not one fan recognized, and my friend told me later that he had never seen me get that excited before(think giddy school girl at this point) as they got closer and closer to us. Andy looked angry about something, but he was probably afraid of getting recognized. I actually liked Gem, so I reached my hand out, he shook my hand and gave me that "what's up?" look. I'm just glad I didn't say "I love your movies" or something like that.

I think that's about it for me.

P.S. Beerz's Senna one was very cool. 👍

👍 on the Oasis spot. I used to be a huge Oasis fan. Still like them now, but not a massive fan anymore.

👍

I come to think of something. I see, meet international motorcross rider from the MX1 and MX2 series, every week. They train in the same fitness where I train.

Does that count?

:)

I walked by Jude Law a few months back in Toronto's "hip" downtown area during my break. Thought the guy looked familar, and there was someone up ahead who he had just passed on their cell basically yelling to whomever they called that they had just spotted him.

Ginger Spice was in my store a few days before their concert in town as well, but was only in for a short while; apparently she deemed it too busy and left. It probably didn't help that she came into the men's section.

Oh, and minor-star, only because I am forced to watch it with my girlfriend; the lead mentor guy from Project Runway Canada was also in my store probably about two or three weeks ago. Can't remember his name. Heh.

I got this "shake-hand man" thing going on with racing drivers. Autograph hunters seem so common, so I just make it my mission to shake hands with 'em instead. I am english you know - its's the done thing, anyway, so far...

Fernando Alonso (@ goodward festival of speed.. then one of his minders shoulder barged my mate!)

Kimi Raikkonnen (although he was in such a hurry to get away from the autograph hunters he nearly pulled my hand into the shutting-door of an s-class)

Nick Heidfeld (I'm a fan so I did get him to sign my cap and told him that he inspired me to grow a beard)

Robert Kubica (This was just before he got Villenueves drive, we had a very quick chat, he's a nice bloke)

Rubens Barrichello (shorter in real-life, and sweatier... but I guess he ain't gettin' and younger :)

Christiano Da matta (met him in london at the F1 thing)

Jenson Button (TRUE STORY, me and my mate flagged him in his black CLK DTM to borrow some jump leads, he didn't have any so my mate asked him why he ever let louise griffiths go?!)

Christian Klien (met him twice actually once outside Redbull hospitality, then again when he'd forgotten the keys to his Golf Gti)

Toni Liuzzi (there were a few people around, one of them gave him a picture of Coulthards red bull to sign, he said "this iza davieees scar" the autograph hunter insisted that he signed it anyway, I felt sorry for him)

Juan Pablo Montoya (okay I didn't shake his hand, he was having none of it, he was p****d off and wasn't stopping for a chat)

Dieter Quester (legendary touring car driver, he signed my cap, but hardly spoke a word of english bless him!)

Christijan Albers (ermm, he was wearing a lovely purple velvet blazer, I'm not sure about him you know!)

Alex Wurz (nice fellow, really taaall)

I also met the entire field of grid girls for the 07 A1GP race at brands last year :D

I literally bumped into Tiff Needell as well, felt like an idiot.

.. oh yeah, and since I'm getting obscure, I shook hands with Patrick Stewart (StarTrek, X-men and stuff) in New York, and also most of the band from Bob Dylans son's (jacob dylan) band "The Wallflowers".

👍 on the Oasis spot. I used to be a huge Oasis fan. Still like them now, but not a massive fan anymore.

👍
Same here, bud. Damn shame, they used to be something really special. I still buy all their releases though, hoping for a miracle!

Depends what their names are. Post them, and I will judge. :D
I only got a few name and the numbers they have on their bikes so far.

MX1...........................................................................MX2

22 Vandael (Bel)............................................10 ....................((Port)

32 Priem (Bel)................................................66......................(LV)

8 Leok T. (EST)

? Steve Ramon (Bel) trains there from time to time.

? Sven Verbruggen (Bel) side-car.

Joël Smets use to train there as well but I haven't seen him much since he retired.

I recently met Pupik, to add to my GTP Moderators list.

Oh, and Kazunori Yamauchi and Translator-san. You wouldn't know them.

Oh, and Kazunori Yamauchi and Translator-san. You wouldn't know them.

I had to google those two.

That Kazunori bloke seems like an interesting fellow. Making some racing game I believe.
Grand tourismo I think

I've met Jim Lee, Phil Jimenez, and Geoff Johns.

*Waits for people to ask who they are*

In 2006 Karl Harris of British Superbike fame nearly walked into me when I was wandering around behind the pit area at Knockhill. We chatted for a minute and I got him to autograph my HM Plant Honda cap. Great guy 👍

A few years back I hit with Jamie Murray for a bit and I have chatted to him on MSN a couple of times through my coach as my coach's brother is also a professional tennis player - I got a headshot on him with a snowball last winter when a few of us, including him, were playing some kind of capture the flag type team deathmatch snowball arena match thing :p

I met Alan McNish at some motorsports event a couple of years back.

I have met Chris Cusiter, Scotland's scrum half, a few times. Once was when he was injured and I sat a couple of seats along from him in the sands at a rugby match. I didn't realise it was him for about half an hour, I then went over, asked for an autograph and chatted to him about his injury and he asked me about the broken fingers I had at the time :p

I'll post more if they come to mind 👍

Uhh, Usain Bolt? Took a picture with him once. But it was before he broke any records, only a few months before -__-

I had lunch at the table next to Ross Brawn in the Honda hospitality thingo once. It's funny, he looks like a total nerd - thick glasses and uneven facial hair

My old personal trainer was Jenson Button's former trainer and he got me inside the Honda garage for a tour on the Saturday. Jenson = extremely image conscious.

Duncan Bannatyne (You know, the Scotch Dragon)

He doesn't live far from my Dad, and I once saw him in the local pub. Didn't speak to him or anything though. He doesn't actually live in Scotland :)

Wife and I went to Laguna Seca a few years back for the MotoGP race; got pit passes when we ordered our tickets for the whole weekend, then my wife tells me that she knows one of the Red Bull PR guys and gets us 'hot passes'. (very fluke deal, even when we got there we weren't sure they would be accepted).

It was amazing: After friday practice we met Rossi, Hayden, Edwards, Melandri and some AMA guys. Micheal Jorden was there, but he doesn't talk to anyone. On raceday Brad Pitt showed up in a helicopter. He was sitting in the RB VIP stand. Although, later he was walking around looking at the bikes, but had massive bodyguards around (he's not that tall).

Colin Edwards was friendly, Melandri was too. Hayden was kinda jerky until my wife walked up then he was cordial. Rossi didn't say much, but he noticed my wife's name on her credentials (Valerie) and asked if she went by "Val". When she said yes, he said "me too" and made a face like he didn't like being called that.

It was an incredible weekend that, at the time, I took for granted. We went the next year, but only had regular pit passes and didn't see anyone but the AMA riders.

I'm still of the opinion that Famine is the most famous person I've met up to now, especially now he's been on telly

I have met another famous person since last posting in this thread, however it was in a medical/professional capacity and due to patient confidentiality, I'm not allowed to tell you who it was!

Famine - I can't believe you didn't mention Sabine Schmidt in your update!!!!

I saw the back of Michael Jordan's head at the United Center when I was 7.

Greatest back of someone's head ever...

I have taught Jack Wilshere, and my friend taught Lewis Hamilton in the school down the road.

I can though. It was removed at the request of SCEA!

I was keeping her to myself :D
