Why are graphics better on my 32 inch 1080p TV than my 19inch 1080i TV on GT5 but on F1 2011 the graphics are better on the 19 inch 1080i TV and are completly unbearable on my 32 inch 1080p TV

I guess because GT5 is the only game with 1080p setting.

XMB menu > Game Settings > PS upscaler > ON.

Because GT5 displays 1080p (er, well, close enough) natively, and I'm assuming F1 2011 does not and has to upscale.

Indeed F1 is 720p but that doesn't really explain why it's better on a 1080i TV but worse on a 1080p as they're both upscaling.

There is probably a lot of post processing and other junk on the smaller tv. The 32 inch is just showing F1 2011 for what it is.

^That.

19 inch 1080i doesn't sound (and the OP can correct me if I'm wrong) like a top of the line piece of equipment, so it probably has a bunch of filters and crap that can't be turned off that were put in so there could be more buzzwords on the box.

1080i is just 720p that's been stretched to fit, whereas 1080p is true 1080. Adjust your display settings on your PS3 before you play either.

Worth noting that 1080i actually resolves to be a lower resolution than 720p. Works out being 540 vertical lines rather than 720.
