you just have to be really good with throttle control to drift high hp cars. throttle control and gear selection/gear ratios are especially key when drifting high hp, narrow powerband cars. it might be "easier" to take a lower hp car thats naturally aspirated (usually N/A cars have a much wider powerband than turbo cars) and learn on that. use maybe 300-450hp. but like everyone stresses its all personal preference. i just babble cause i like to talk cars.
 
with a 900hp car, just go for it, you gotta realize that HP isn't everytihng though. You have to make sure to not over-countersteer, or overpower the tires too much. The FR drift guide has a great setup, and a great load of information to ceck this out.
