High School

I'll join in this high school discussion (: .

I'm currently in IGCSE year 2 (that's year 11 to english people, 10th grade to americans). It's basically like GCSE, but with an I for international :P . At the moment, i'm 'studying' pretty hard for mock exams (lol please, they're mock exams, can't be that bad), so i'm taking a break to post here.

Now, for anyone wanting to do the IGCSEs, be prepared, 'cause they cost around 150 $. Per exam. Yeah. There are around 10 exams.

Continuing on the academic side of things, I hope my genius side of me will guide me through them (I have a .. let's say good GPA) (: , but i'll try my best. Promise.

I've been reading through this and it seems to me like some of your schools (no offense) are like satan's playground. I would hate to have some of your teachers. The one's at my school are pretty cool, although my english teacher... Way too much work. Oh, and there was this one crazy spanish teacher who got fired.

And when I hear about jock/cheerleader superiority I just get reminded of those classic american movies where cheerleaders walk around school in their skimpy uniforms and jocks are all apparently bodybuilders. We don't really have any of that, everyone gets along pretty well. OK, there are some exceptions. There are a few people in my school that I don't try to hate, I'm all for trying to befriend them, but they make it so hard. They're just SO annoying and awkward and impossible to befriend. I gave up :P . A cool story: There was this party at a club in Geneva, and of my friends rings someone up. About 30 minutes later, a limo comes up. WIN. We have lots of rich kids at our school. I mean, like really rich. For example, one chick gets 2000 chf per week as an allowance; kids get picked up in Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bentleys constantly. One of the consequences of going to an international school in switzerland i'm afraid. But hey, who am I to hate? Contrary to popular belief, most of these people are they nicest people you'll ever meet. Forget about the snobbishness and elitism. We haven't got that around here.

Every few weeks we get a lot of people and go to our resident paintball field (about 30 minutes away), and have a huge blast paintballing. Also, since i'm more than obsessed about cars, and so is my best friend, I take him and a few other close friends karting, followed by hitting the bars, then playing some GT5 back home. Doesn't get much better than that (: (well it does, the auto show's coming up soon, an if it's anything like last years, i'll have VIP access to many high end car brands (I have a thread or two about that from the 2011 auto show).

Hmm, what else to say? Oh, it is really easy to get good grades, the boundaries are remarkably low. As an example, I got 100 on my French IGSCE exam (I took it last year instead of this year because our teacher felt us capable), and my whole French class got an A* (or A+).

So, while I think of more stuff to say, here you go (: .

I could be wrong, maybe I would need to know it but or what I want to get into it's pretty useless. I don't think it should be a necessity to take it. As for what I think we should be taught that's a good question. I'd say basic things we'll be doing for the rest of our lives that we'll definitely need to know. More courses with things to do wit managing money and the like. I have no idea what balancing a checkbook even means, I think things like that should be at least explained.

I cannot for the life of me remember what class it was,but we did have a class specifically for balancing checkbooks, understanding mortgages, and basically everything you would need to know when you finally got out on your own.

The teacher was pretty cool and i took the class the required 2 years.

Thanks for making me want to leave this planet.

High School was stupid. In a good way. I want it back.

I agree to an extent. On reflection high school was moronic. But I'd love to go back and do it again with the attitude I have towards life these days.

This annoying kid who keeps getting "together" and breaking up with "girlfriends". And by that I mean he was with this girl, and broke up with her 2 or more/less times, and got back together, yet they never saw eachother in real life for this period, and nor has he before. I think.
I said something I guess "offended" him in math class, but he didn't say or react anything, and he kept talking like normal. He then proceeds to create a huge drama on Facebook accusing me of saying something bad. He told his "girlfriend" #1, I think, well at least her friends. So I get into a message argument with this girl I don't know. She's saying I'm being a b*tch 'cause he's happy and I'm trying to break them up and get her for myself.
This was all before they broke up for the 1st time. Now he has another girlfriend, which I presume is a friend of his old one, who I also think he hasn't even met. They talk via text (him and all of these people)
In math today he says he's going to delete on Facebook and block me too. Oh, and he said he's gonna kick my ass. Eherm... TRY... To at least. (Also he's been saying that part for a while)
I'm thinking, if I was in the wrong, he would've been offended or show some emotion or something when I said "what I said". I'm thinking, it feels like he wasn't actually effected by what he says that I said, because he just went and made an attention-grabbing drama over Facebook. I don't care how many "girlfriends" you've had, or what you gloat about.

Other than that, I like high school. Global project on Hindu Holidays due tomorrow. Lol

Tell him that if he messes with you, I'm comin after him.

He'll be beat with an Outdated DFGT. Lol
I doubt he'll do anything, he says but doesn't do. And today someone left a very gross feminine item in the main hallway while we were leaving :yuck:

Wow you guys are terrible at being descreet, the only class in my school you really need to be good for is Maths, cause the teacher is a strict one.(She is hot though, might attract some kids to detention:sly:) Oh, and Computers, cause the teacher is also strict, but he is a real 🤬 and he thinks he's all that. He gave me a detention and started bitching cause I had a jacket on in class, and another time I started laughing when he was lecturing us about attendence cause I was taking the 🤬 out of him beforehand, and he asked if I cared about the attendence lecture, I said 'No, cause I haven't missed a day'. I also started laughing at him another class and he asked if I was having a fit.

And luckily I have no problems in my school, and since we're on the subject of friends, me and another friend are going to see who can eat the most chili's without having a drink on Saturday.:D

You are REALLY suffering without the What Grinds My Gears thread.

I got kicked out of class for opening a snickers bar. Put it away. I proceeded to take a giant bite and chew obnoxiously loud. At this point the class was rolling. She said do you want to leave? Kinda but if you want me out so bad call for an escort. She got on the phone and I lol'd. Igot up, mumbled a few naughty words just loud enough so everyone could hear. WHAT DID YOU SAY??? Oh, you heard me. Walked out.I got down there and got snobby with the principle and then got kicked out the offices. All for opening a candy bar.

You made them take all that action over a candy bar? Yeah dude, you're really showing them who's boss...

Life story.

Not sure if srs...

But for real though. It was so stupid.

I was being sarcastic. Grow up. Listen to your teachers. If it's just a candy bar then save it for later. But no, you're Mr. Cool and you have to eat it in class right now. Get over yourself and learn how to respect yourself and the people around you. Your teacher is trying to do a job and you have to make a scene? What's your deal?

^ Lol. Around here teachers are nice enough to let us eat our snickers in peace. Maybe even some skittles. As long as we're not obnoxious about it :)

If the teacher allows it then no big deal. But if you come into someone's classroom and they say "don't eat in here, it causes distractions" then you're the one with the problem if you go into that classroom and start eating. Then the teacher asks you to stop so you go louder? Then make a scene?

Would you go to your best friend's house and do that? Imagine that scenario. You go to your friend's house and his mom asks you to take you shoes off before walking around. Would you leave your shoes on anyways and then walk all ever her stuff? They're just shoes, right?

I would have been ok about doing it but she made a big deal (mind you, it's only towards me. A kid ate a pop tart the next class and she didn't say anything.) out of it so I felt I needed to make a scene lol. And it was one of those little bite size ones that are gone in like 2 bites. The other fact was it was already opened before she even said anything so I figured I'd just scarf it down real quick ad get it over with. But noooo, she had to start something. This was a few years ago now and I've grown up since.

I'm a proud nerd who wants to be a jock. a huge problem. advice?

Don't be, jocks will always work for the nerds 20 years down the road. Be yourself and treat people with respect and it will open up a world of possibilities socially.

Ok didn't say i did that... teachers are nice here but discipline is strict... getting written up is basicaly asking for In School. And yeah that's just disrespectful

👍 Trust me, i know all about teachers making big deals out of little things. Took a little box of tic tacs one day and put a dollar on the table for the teacher (this was like a school store), apparently i stole it, got written up, got In School, and they never found the dollar. Honestly. Why would i steal a box of tic tacs... :grumpy:

That's BS. I would have flipped. I have, or used to have a short temper. However at the same time I take a lot from people so you learn to shrug it off. Now it takes a lot to **** me off.

Doesn't seem like it..

When i was in High School or grade school if we made a scene we would have our rear end beat with a paddle.I remember this one teacher who had one with holes in it so he could swing it faster. Then they would contact my parents and I would get it even worse when i got home.

If they would be able to do this(which they can't anymore, which is stupid)more kids, teenagers wouldn't be acting up like they do now.I got paddled quite a bit,but i soon learned pain isn't good,so I didn't act up anymore.

Same at my school, you can eat pretty much whatever you want. Only exceptions are the science lab and computer rooms.
