Damn I'm sick of school. I would honestly love to just drop out and work with my dad for the rest of my life. I can't stand sitting for 1 hour 40 minutes 'learning' about crap I'll never really use while I could e at work making money and doing something I actually like doing. I'd rather push a broom for 12 hours at my dads for $60 a day than go in to school for 6 hours every day. Half the crap we need to take anyways isn't even important, please is there anybody on this site who could say they ever use algebra at all? That's a completely useless thing to learn in my eyes.
It may seem it to you, but I'm looking to get into mechanical engineering. This certainly requires math courses. The thing is they teach a broad curriculum to fit different people as a whole so that courses don't need to be super-specific to each person and their career choice, if they chose already. I don't ever want anything to do with English, Spanish, History, and a lot of other classes I'm taking. But the thing is you must take them because the education in high school is to prepare you for any branch of careers, and it will be narrowed down when you decide what you do after high school, whether it be college, a technical school, or straight to work. In my school, one needs a technology credit to graduate, and for some reason I never got one, even though I scheduled for one last year and this year. I signed up for CAD, which is essential for engineering, and I can't get it because it's given to all seniors. That means I must take another elective that counts as a technology credit, all of which I care nothing about. But I found one that you would like as I saw your argument farther down the thread: Personal Finance. Look at different electives, there are probably very few that fit what you're looking for, but there will most likely be something. I found a class about rock n' roll, baking (only because I get to eat what I make), and Latin which is great for SATs, as Latin teaches you prefix, suffix, and roots and their meanings.
rb26x - Honestly dude, you should just remove yourself from those guys if you can. You need to objectively look at who you are spending time with and ask yourself what you truly gain from those associations. It is not your burden to "rescue" anyone and you aren't even qualified to do so if you ever tried. If I were you, I'd try to make friends with people who are able to enrich your life in one way or another.
I talk to them less, and rarely ever hang out. I'm pulling away, but I still miss them for who they were. Were is the keyword, but it still bothers me a little. My friend who went into the mental hospital for a few days wants to hang out with a good friend of his (and mine) and I to keep him from doing stupid things again, so that will be good. I can't really make friends to hang out with outside of school, though. I like BMX and longboarding, which nobody likes except a few of my friends who turned into losers. The only other thing I like is cars, which I have one friend to talk about with similar tastes, and he lives 20 minutes away, and my parents don't even want to drive me to my girlfriend's, let alone his house. I also like playing guitar, but with school work and nobody to play with anymore, I lost interest, and only play once every two or three weeks. I have an old elementary friend that I have been talking to more lately, and he wants to play some UFO and Rush with me, which I love, but he's always grounded and we can't ever get together. Things will work out eventually I guess.
