Is there anyone else part from Australia who are look forward to Holden and the (Australian Ford) cars being in GT4.

yes, here in saudi arabia (and the rest of the gulf) we get cars in Aussie spec. , we also get two holdens (as chevy brands) , the commodore (called lumina) and the caprice (wich used to be chevy but was droped).

but we don't get any Aussie fords thou, we're quite happy with the crown victoria.

i'd like to see holden just so i can mod a car that i see on the street (most 'every day' cars here are sedans, vans, SUVs and picups).

I might not be an Aussie guy, but yes I am expecting their cars a lot. They simply look as bad as hell and haul more than ass. I wish we had some of these beasts here in Canada, I'd seriously like to buy one. I don't know if America is still THE muscle car land.

See ya :sly:

Well I would like to see a few V8 Supercars. A Ford BA and a Holden VY would be pretty fun, although there arnt any Aussie circuits to race them on yet :(

Bloody oath i cant wait mate! :p Its gonna be awesome having Holden in there after so long. Hopefully its street cars as well not just V8 Supercars, i wanna drive cars i see everyday on our roads.

Not just the Holden range, But the HSV range too. I'd like to see Tickford back and FPV. I want a head to head. I'll be driving Murphs Holden Commodore VY V8 Supercar :sly:

I can't wait for More Aussie cars to be in this game. As a holden fan I was a bit dissapointed at the range we had in GT3

The only ones there, were the Astra and Calibra Touring cars.

give me those beast oh yes i want them. i loved the Tickford in GT3 and i love Holdens. bring um on.

I would be glad to see cars from anywhere in GT4. Australian cars would be especially good though. Who wouldn't want the modern incarnations of the muscle car in GT4?

If you Americans have Speed Channel and at home, I learned that Australian V8 Supercar coverage is on at around 12 Noon Eastern Standard Time. I had a chance to hear the growl of those machines, and they're pretty cool. They sound not as aggressive as Trans-Am/SCCA GT-1 race cars, but have a nice growl that's... Australian. The Aussie V8 sounds in "Pro Race Driver" are pretty mean. But I don't know what game has maybe came close to reproducing the sounds of these Australian race cars.

Of course, Codemasters usually used to have these signature sounds for cars. You know, car engine sounds that sound like engine sounds from another Codemasters racing title and that sort of thing. But this is PD. And if they're going to guess, they'll have to make a good one for those machines. How do some of the Australian cars sound (excluding the V8 Supercars and those Brute Ute machines)? You know, just in case we get street cars as well as race cars.

It depends, in full trot they sound very similar to V8 Supercars, but otherwise they're pretty docile except for the slight V8 splutter you can hear in the background. At least from the few I've been in.

The sound of the V8 needs to be better on track and in the pits. They need to get the speedlimiter sound right. That splutters like a mofo.

According to the Hong Kong game show, the Australian cars in GT4 are:

2000 Ford Falcon '00 (V8 Supercar)
FPV F6 Typhoon '04
FPV GT '04
Holden Monaro CV8 '04
Holden COmmodore SS '04

Unfortunately it looks as though the 2004 V8 Supercars didn't make it :(

If they are in the game, I hope they have that great sound they make!!!. I've never seen one in real life, since I live in Los Angeles. But they've been showing the 2004 races on Speed Channel these past few weeks or so and they're awesome!! I wish I was able to go down to Australia to watch some of these races! The tickford was in GT3...hopfully it and more will be in GT4.

Very happy to see some AUS road cars in the game this time round. You can be sure I'll have a few well worked in examples in my garage.

On the whole I prefer to have road cars over race cars so this is great news to me.

Yup, per person Australia would have many times more V8 sedans on the road than the USA has at this time, The most common cars here that the cast majority of people own are V6 Commdores and straight 6 Falcons (Both around 4 litres and around 140-190kw) (every member of my family has one or the other of these except my brother who has a V8 Commodore) but also for every say 10 V6/Straight 6's there is a V8 Commodore or Falcon on the street (many more Commodores, they range in power from 170-300kw. The current BA Falcon is the best Falcon that's been made for a long time and the XR6 Turbo is quite a weapon, 4l turbo straight 6 and it's got a bit of turbo whine going even on a stocky, sounds nice: ). They have 240kw and can go from 0-100km/h in under 6 seconds and there are plenty heaps of them on the road, it's a very common car. Same with the chev LS1 powered SS Commdores that have like 250kw for the base model, heaps and heaps of those on the road too, you see like 20 of them a day just driving to do your shopping (and I live in a small town)

The V8 supers are basically just road car shells with a full race chasis underneath. Both cars are the same except for brand of engines. Holden race cars run 302 small block chevs (from the old racing Camaro) and the Fords use a 302 Windsor. Neither of these engines are used in the road cars, the road cars actually use much more modern and better engines. Holden road cars use the LS1 or LS2 Alloy V8's. The Fords use the same engine as the current Mustang and GT40. The road cars sound very crisp and nice but are not very loud due to plenty of mufflers : )

Quick question for your Aussies out there..

Since I don't know that much about V8 Supercar racing, could someone clarify if Holden is an actual car manufacture or if it's a more famed car company (GMC I think) that has merely re-branded the name for that particular region (Australia)

Thanks!

Yes it is a "actual" car manufacture, where do you think the Pontiac GTO comes from.

If I had known that Holdens where in fact just a rebranded Pontiac GTO produced by GMC, I wouldn't have asked the question in the first place now would I!

Thanks for the clarification though!

No the GTO is a re-badges Holden. The GTOs were built right here in my state I think.
