Seems rude considering some of the questionable aftermarket crap Domestic companies have thrown on cars. Also there are plenty of high end models dressed up now days, not sure how this is a ricebox...

Key word: Aftermarket.

Key word: Aftermarket.
No it's not because it comes from the factory like that, (e.g. SLP on camaro and others) manufactures do have partnerships with various parts companies. Also the term ricebox in general is a stupid term muscle car drivers use, I should know I grew up around one and was raised in that car culture.

I don't consider factory options like SLP to be aftermarket. Aftermarket to me is something you buy out of a Jegs catalog or something. I was also raised in the muscle culture so I guess that is is someone true.

They're an aftermarket company...thus it is an aftermarket part that the manufacture is okay with thus making it an option from the dealer...

I agree aftermarket is also ordering on your own from various places and installing it. Even manufactures have their own parts that are considered aftermarket and can void the warranty, this is the case with Mopar

Yeah that's true.

nice! I'd take it over the Si for look and performance, of course

Anyone using the word "rice" to describe a Japanese auto is racist. :unimpressed:

To all the real enthusiast...

Any car, ANY CAR, getting under 8 minutes at the Ring is impressive and genuinely worthy of attention, none the less sports car status.

To think anyone would look at high spoilers, big fenders, and unusual designs while reading less than 8m at the Ring and use a term like Rice is ridiculous and says far more about the ignorant poster than it does about the car.

Doesn't change the fact it's ugly as sin.

It would look bad if it was slow.

It's not, so it doesn't.

I think the people who are afraid of 350hp through the front wheels greatly underestimate automotive engineers. You get torque steer and undesirable handling characteristics when you put too much power through a specific chassis. If you improve the chassis, you can improve the way it transmits power.

Yup. Back in the mid nineties people thought front-drive hatchbacks with more than about 150 bhp would be impossible to drive. The other month I drove a FWD with 270 horsepower (and a manual box, and an LSD, to clarify that it wasn't just a Camry or something) which was an absolute hoot. Modern suspension, tyres, electronics and more really make a difference.

I had a similar experience with a 250hp Focus ST. I was wary of the infamous FWD handling characteristics and experienced nothing of the sort. Anecdotal evidence from forums being wrong? Mind blown!

Maybe I have the wrong definition but to me ricers have always been people who add purely cosmetic mods to their basic cars in the form of big nonsensical body kits and wings. I've always thought of it as people that buy a Cavalier and put a fart can and a big wing on it or something, not someone in a car that will smoke Camaros and Mustangs off the line stock.

What model Mustang are we talking? Most cars aren't left stock anyways

The ones that are sold and seen on the road the most, the base models with the V6 from 2005 on. Not sure how it would play out between the 3.7L and this car but it would be interesting.

I'm guessing you never saw a Civic before? :sly:
I'd bet that 99% of civics are left stock, too. Seriously, I'd put money on it. Sure, there are a few older ones that people get and rice them up and they look absolutely awful. But most people buy them as a reliable and quality form of transportation. And there are a lot of Civics in the world used like that.

Nevermind the wing what about the fake vents on the bonnet?
