Guys, last night I was chilling with a guy that owns the only K-swap Civic in Dayton. It's a turboed K20 with a tad over 300 whp. It's a piece, with dents and stuff, but the engine was most important to him. You'd never know it.

@Toyomatt - I upset myself sometimes too, especially when I see my friends dads TL in all its goodness and remember the deal he was going to give me on it. :guilty:

@Keef - So wheres the pics of it?! Theres a guy in town with a VW like that. The body is stock with stock rims, but the turbo can be heard for blocks. Plus his lisencse plate says "TURBON8R", which is just awesome in itself.

I didn't have my camera, and I never even thought of taking pictures. If he ever shows up again I'll take some pictures.

I'm just suprised you guys aren't laughing. There's one K20A2 Civic in this city. Just one. And it's a monster!

There's one other turbo Honda that notable, and that's a real ITR. I've never spoken to the guy, but he's met up with my group a couple weeks ago. Everybody kept telling me something about 400 horsepower...

If any of you have ever seen it it's Champ white with a CF hood, stock, black painted wheels, and he's got a hole in one of the driver's side headlights to funnel air to the turbo. I can't imagine that he's never been to Nashville or something.

I put too many layers of paint and it just didn't come out the way I had hoped. I might just take these out or get another cluster since I had to glue these back in.

Does it look bad?

*edit*
Oh, and chalk up about 50 miles on that odometer since I drove my car the last week with no instrument cluster.

lol best. plate. ever.

Looks alright from that picture. Besides, the price of a new (or even used) guage cluster will make it seem a lot better.

@Sp33 - I laughed when I first saw it, then I heard his car as he floored it away and almost crapped myself. Although it wasn't JDM goodness, it gave me a raging hard-on like you wouldn't believe.

Good plate? No, sir. The best plates guys I know have is a 350 whp gen 3 Talon that says NONTRBO. As he shoots 2 foot flames.

Also, a guy who drifts his old RX7 has HEELTOE as his plate. Good stuff.

Its actually SR-V. Basically, the 4th gen Prelude came in SR and SR-V (there was more, but those were the 2 major ones) models in Canada. The V stands for VTEC as it was the top model and the only model to come with the H22 VTEC engine. Its basically the Prelude VTEC that you had in the states.

Even lower? Damn. PICS PLZ.

Now, questions. I was telling my dad that I'd just install my exhaust myself whenever I buy it, but he advised me not to. Knowing something always goes wrong with cars, he's suggesting that this will break and that'll break, and just give it the exhaust shop because brackets and hangers will break and have to be welded back on...

So what do you all think, or know? I already know the flanges are rusted to hell. Obviously I don't need the bolts. I don't know about the springs. But what about the hangars? Are they prone to snapping off? How about the treads for the header? Are they likely to strip?

Also, I eventually plan to pull a Matt and replace my suspension. I want real coilovers, but not something that'll ride like a rock or drag the ground. I'd like to keep it simple. I was thinking TEIN basics, or an H&R kit from Tire Rack. Both are arounf $800-$900 I think. Does Buddy Club make good stuff? A'Pexi? Skunk2? Any other companies I should eye that make simple, inexpensive coilovers?

Depends on what you're planning for your exhaust. If its made for your car and a direct bolt on then you can do it yourself no problem. Sure hangers break, but new hangers come with new exhausts already welded in place (atleast if its made for your specific ride) and bolts might rust, but thats what penetrating oil and muscles are for. You can either find a place that rents out bays with lifts or jack up your car in the drive way and do it there, but either way, bring a friend along as it makes it much easier (and also gives you someone to blame if you mess up).

I was talking about the hangars that are on the car. Anyway, yes, it's a bolt-on from Buddy Club, which is why I was wondering why my dad was complaining. Also, I was planning on picking up some ramps do drive my car up on in my garage. I've got friends up at the dealership but I've already been kicked out of the garage numerous times.

I have some questions regarding my Prelude, that I can't seem to find answers for.

1) I know the RPM meter shows upto 9k, but whats the actual maximum the stock H22A can rev (safely) if the limiter is taken off?
2) What is the BEST first mod to do to this engine. I keep reading about three different answers...from all over the place.
3) Any 17" Acura rims fit the Prelude's bolt pattern?
4) Not specifically Prelude related but--what's a good way to mount a camera/camcorder inside to show either the road or instrument cluster?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

@Keef - You shouldn't have any problems with the hangers on the car, they're usually pretty thick. If anything you'd have a problem with the rubber on the hangers, they could be dried out or worn which means you might have to replace those aswell, but they're cheap and easy to replace.

@JCE3000GT

1. I know of a lot people that take theirs to 8K, although I found that going above 7200 was a waste.

2. I went with a short ram intake with mine and was pleased. Throttle response was most noticable, plus it sounded alot meaner when VTEC kicked in yo!

3. I don't think any Integra rims will fit the 5th gen as its a 5x114.5 bolt pattern, you can look into most late model Accord or TSX rims though (theres a guy here with '04 TSX rims on his '01 Prelude and they look pretty good).

4. Velcro works pretty good, although I'm sure someone will be able to answer this question with a better answer.

Oh, Accord or TSX rims. Those would look pretty cool I suspect. As for the intake, I'd probably get a TB spacer with the air intake just for that added noise. 👍

Throttle body spacers are some of the biggest wastes of money. They only prove to be useful on carburated cars, where you put them under the carb.

Agreed. Don't get a throttle body spacer. Also, I wouldn't worry about the intake manifold, either. Your engine is decently large so you can expect very noticeable gains from simple mods like an intake, header, and exhaust. What do you guys think? Fifteen to twenty whp?

EDIT: I just found out my flywheel is STILL on backorder after a week. Do you guys have any other sites where I could buy this thing for a reasonable price? You can imagine I don't really want to spend more than the $250 on Summit for the same part.

...I see the Exedy flywheel for my car is just over 9 pounds, but is over $300 from Password. Damn. I'm tired of waiting...

The hardest part I've experienced with exhausts is when the bolts are basically welded to the peice, and you have you heat it with a torch to get it loose, but other than that, it should be very easy.

Also, I've got some goodrich stainless steel brake lines on my car now. Not a big difference, but it helps. Changing them is so insanely easy though, I was surprised.

They are really easy to change, plus they're pretty cheap compared to most parts out there. I liked them on my 'lude and I've been thinking about sticking a set on my G sometime soon.

I haven't driven my car hard enough since I put my new front brakes on to notice enough fade to make me uneasy. I didn't even have a problem on the Dragon, and that was very hard on my brakes. I imagine if I got on a track for an hour or so I'd be feeling it pretty well though.

I ordered a powerchamber intake from Password on Saturday. Hopefully I'll have it this week.

The carbon fiber one?

What about wheels? Have you ordered any yet?

I should be getting my tires soon. And a new computer, so I'll be on more often starting sometime in the next few weeks.

Yes, the CF one.

I'll wait a while on the rims and tires. I'm satisfied with my car's handling and right now I'm into getting the most out of what it has. And myself, of course. I'd like to make another trip to the Dragon this year.

I just popped back in here to ask if any of you have ever replaced a sunroof assembly/motor before? I need to get a either a new motor or full sunroof assembly for my Prelude. I've found them for decent prices but I haven't installed a sunroof or sunroof motor before so I'm a bit worried that I might need to get someone to do it for me. Thoughts?

Seems pretty simple to me. I can imagine taking off the interior ceiling panel, unplugging a few things, unscrewing some brackets, replacing the motor/glass/whatever, screwing the brackets back on...

It's not custom fabrication. Just don't mix up the screws or break the tabs on the roof panel.

Way less than an hour. Try 10 mins.

Replacing/repairing a sunroof in a 'lude isn't that hard, you can do it yourself, but be prepared to remove most of the interior to get to it. I've never done it on the 'lude, but I've worked on other cars and I'm assuming they're mostly the same. It can be a lil tricky getting the roof lining off so be careful that you don't wreck it when you're pulling it off.

But the Dragon was about 15 minutes and I was driving as hard as I knew how. From 50 to 15 about every 10 seconds. Of course, the fastest we got up to was about 80 and I'm sure I'd be over 100 on a real track.
