Possibly some bad news...due to finances I may have to give my Prelude back. One of my jobs is shafting me on my hours and pay raise. As in shaving my hours and not giving me my pay raise that's over 3 weeks overdue. The WHOLE POINT of me getting a second car WAS the pay raise and more hours.

So, there is a possibility of no more VTEC for me. :(

Ouch, that sucks. Atleast you got to have it for the short time that you did.

Theres no possible way to talk to someone to get your raise, or even the hours at all? Usually HR would be able to help you out with that.

+1 for selling the Camaro.

And I love my tires. Grip is fun, especially when you can hear the rear inside tire skipping around. I need a better suspension, but man it's a nice sound to hear.

I need brakes though, I can't lock my wheels even with the pedal on the floor.

Lol, PB. If you can't lock your brakes then yes, you need brakes badly. Stock brakes should still be able to lock up anything you can throw at them.

Sell the Camaro. This could be a new, sophisticated chapter in your life...

+1 for selling the Camaro.

I'll sell both of your children and your children's children before I sell my Camaro. I have an emotional attachment to it.

And I'll know in about a week if I have to give back the Prelude. What's really crappy is I have to replace the entire front brakes and rear rotors/pads on the 'lude.

I don't have any children, so you can skip that whole section and move on with the Camaro!

Selling the Camaro would probably be the smarter move as I could see the 'lude lasting longer, being more enjoyable to drive and costing you less to maintain in the long run.

Just my 2 cents.

My Camaro has already given 240,100 miles, whats not reliable about that? Again, I'm not selling the Camaro--ever. I'd rather set fire to the Prelude then sell my Camaro.

I guess no one here understands what an emotional attachment is?

GM + love?

Anything from japan + love = tru dat. lol.

I cant lock my brakes either, dunno what the problem is, tyres arent THAT grippy that it should stop it locking, dunno.

thought you guys would want to see the progress

Sorry, but nothing could make me love a Camaro more than a 'lude...nothing. (Might have something to do with my emotional attachment to my 'lude, but still....its a Camaro. And yes, it might have 200-jabillion miles on it, but whatever it falls dead at, the 'lude will surpass.

@showoff3civic - Awesome! But whats with the black roof? You leaving it that color, or is it still to be painted? Props for giving it a proper paint job too (compared to those cheap resprays that leave the inside of every opening the stock body color). 👍

I had it painted black,

black engine bay, c/f hood, black roof, c/f spoiler

And that is the point. You have an emotional attachment to your Prelude.

And the good news is I talked with the guy that I'm making payments with and he's going to let me keep the car and just make a late payment.

But, that brings me to a problem--my front left brake rotor is warped (making a lovely clacking noise) and all my pads need replacing. Looks like I'll have to drive the Camaro to work while I save the money up to replace the brakes. Thankfully I can replace the rotors and pads myself--so I don't have to rely on a shop to do it.

*edit*
Oh, and I have a question. Has anyone here done a dash swap converting their LHD car to RHD? I'd love to swap my steering to the "proper" side. ;)

All the mounting holes and etc are the same in the USDM as the JDM model right? One of the concerns is the pedals--and more specifically if I need to drill holes or if they are simply plugged on the right side. Any info in that regard?

So is $7700 usd too much for a 1999 Civic SI with about 60,000 miles?
I'm looking at cheaper sporty cars since my parents may decide to just take my car and give me the money for something else (wish I would volunteer to be well under 10,000).

Any advice on what to look for would be great, thanks!

I've never seen that before on an EP, but it sounds like it could turn out good if done properly. Keep us posted, I'm kinda looking forward to the final result now. 👍

@JCE3000GT - Yes, I do have an emotional attachment, but sometimes you have to think with your brain instead of your heart. I had a huge emotional attachment to my old Shelby Z, but after it started becoming a money pit I knew I had to get rid of it. I still miss it every summer, and especially when I go to the track and see the SRT-4's whizzing down the track, but I still know I made the right choice in selling it.

And a left hand swap is more than just replacing the dash and drilling holes. There is a guy on one of the Prelude forums that I visited doing a swap on a 4th gen and he was basically doing a whole front clip swap (firewall and everything) and it looked like a major feat. Good luck if you do try it, but unless you have some major skills (which if you're debating on doing your own brakes or not probably means you don't) I wouldn't attempt it.

Pedals, dash, steering rack I think, master cylinder will have to be moved to the other side, which I'm guessing also requires you to move the battery and a couple fuse boxes. Latches and stuff will have to be switched too, like the trunk latch and such.

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more.

Edit:

I had a 1989 Dodge Daytona, so I know how fun those cars can be...especialy in the faster trim levels. (assuming you're referring to the Daytona)

Yuck, I'll pass then. I'd rather import some beater from another country that's already RHD than do the swap if it means I have to virtually hack off the front clip and weld another one in its place. I guess it wouldn't of been more economical just to have a uniform chassis with all the holes and ports in place than to have to stamp out more than 1 firewall/engine bay?

I wouldn't say its to much if the car is in good condition.

I think the black going all the way up the car will look fantastic. I've told my cousin to do that on his CRX. Good choice!

PB, nice rims. That offset is pretty wide, but it probably looks better than what the picture shows. But who cares what it looks like as long as it goes like stink.

Also, the few extra horsepowers are welcome, but the noise is getting ridiculous. I didn't realise that CF intake I got from Password would be as loud as it is, but it's damn loud. Sounds like a Subaru boxer, then at 5400rpm it turns into a classic carbureted Ferrari V12. Or something mean sounding like that. Anyway, we had to hunkyrig a few things in the engine bay, like a bracket with a bunch of connectors on it. Those had to be moved to fit the intake. It wasn't a big deal though. There was actually a nearby hole where we screwed it in.

The only early Civics I'd be seriously interested in would be the EM1, like you've mentioned, or an EG2 like my car. They're the ones with the B16A2 engine, and that means you don't need to swap if you want fun VTEC fury. Neither are rocketships by any means, but they're definitely fun. Otherwise you'll be stuck wanting lots more power in just about every other Civic, bar the EG Si hatch. Of course, it still could use a little more go.

I had a 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. White with T-tops and a bunch of Mopar performance parts I found on a bunch of wrecked Daytona's in the junkyard. (turbo, intercooler, etc.) It was probably the fastest car I've had and a blast to drive in the summer...that is when it wasn't in the shop with a blown head gasket for the 5th time that month. :grumpy:

@Perfect Balance - Nice, and the offset doesn't look too bad. 👍
But wheres the side shots?! We demand more!
