Hours Old and PGR3 Crashing Like Mad

I dont think this was worth making a thread for. If it were say 5 out of every 100 systems then it would be a problem.

A buggy console or game is bound to get publicised on a new consoles launch, it's not an uncommon thing. There was buggy games and consoles at the PS2's launch and at the XB's ect and there still are. It's just that around a new consoles launch this sort of thing ends up under the microscope so to speak.

As well as Dreamcast, I had so many games crash the first week of owning it. And Virtua Tennis had a 2:1 crashs to boot up ratio.

I havent had any trouble. 10+ hours. PGR3 is 720p.

1024x600 is not 720p.

What happend to my other 300,000 some-odd pixels? It may output to 720p, but the image is stretched to fit 1280x720. It seems like PGR3 was ineeded rushed. All other 360 games are 1280x720, but not PGR3.

Yet PGR3 still happens to be one of the best looking games ever released to date, looking at it fom the perspective leaves me wondering what the point is of moaning about it not being true 720p when it looks better than pretty much everything else.

First, it was Microsoft itself that pledged that all 360 games would support 720p. When a top-tier game does not support the 720p resolution of 1280x720, that concerns me a great deal.

When I have spent several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a HDTV monitor, I expect my 360 games to run at 1280x720 since Microsoft has pledged so. I do not care if the game looks great. I know, for a fact, that the image is being stretched.

Engadget, Xbox Scene, and Team Xbox are all reporting Xbox 360 systems crashing with numerous games.

Well, 4 X360s breaking down out of 1.3 million isn't bad.
That's not quite the thing...

Teamxbox had a poll (and yes, I know, Fanboys will **** those up) - But the result was that 30 something out of 210 something had had problems... 1 out of a 100000 is okay in my book, but that number, if even remotely true, is certainly not encouraging - If you're looking to buy a box.....

Those of us here that own a 360, have had no issues with gameplay or the console itself. My box has been on nonstop since Monday - 12:30pm.

Almost every 360 crash thread on the internet is about that one person. The only thing I see all over the place, is people trying to smear the 360's reputation.

So, let me get this straight. I've read all your other pissing and moaning posts in other threads. As I understand it, you're mad at this because the actual resolution the game is being output to the video scaler isn't full 720p??? Is that right??? WHO GIVES A CRAP!!!!! Its just a number. They could be putting the game out at 640x480, I don't care. The game looks great, and is very fun game.

But, not you. You get mad because of a spec and detail number. Do you play games for the fun and enjoyment, or are you just worried about the numbers??? So, because they scale the res back to get the game to run VERY well, you get mad because your missing out on a few lines of resolution. You either need to get out more, or find a new hobby. Video games, especially console games, are about fun. Not bragging about who has a better resolution or framerate.

Are you going to piss and moan if all PS3 games aren't running at 1080p and 120fps, like Sony says they possibly can??? I can only imagine how it will sound.....

"THIS IS LAME!!!! Sony said my GT5 would run at 1080p, but its only running at 1760x990 resolution!! I HATE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!"

At least it WILL be 60fps. I know they'll sacrafice what ever is needed to achive it. Look at GT3/4. if 1776x990p60 is what it takes its cool cuz it still beats 720p30.

Wont bother me since all i can afford in the near future is a 720p HDTV.

WHO GIVES A CRAP!!!!!

I do.

I plan (like many others) to buy a HDTV very, very soon. If the PGR3 box says 720p support, then I expect it to be 1280x720, the 720p resolution. I'm not going to spend three grand on a HDTV and $400 on a console (that crashes harder than Windows) for a $60 game that doesn't support 720p.

But, using your logic, no one gives a crap.

Yes, it does support 720p resolution. That's why all the screenshots we see are 1280x720.

PGR3 runs at 1024x600 and the image is stretched to 1280x720. 1024x600 is not 1280x720. It is like stretching a 4:3 movie to fit a 16:9 screen, it doesn't look so hot.

Any screenshots at 1280x720 are after the video is passed through the TV. A direct frame capture would result in 1024x600, as you can see in the link above.

I know more about the Xbox 360 than the people who actually have them. :indiff:

It outputs to 720p. No one actually knows if it renders at 720p, but we know it OUTPUTS at 720p. You're so thick you can't understand this.

No, I never said that no one cares. Just that I don't care. And, in my opinion, anyone who is worried about a single spec that much is in need of a new hobby. Its almost like your looking for anything to complain and moan about, and this is it. Just play the GAME and have FUN. Stop worrying about your fancy, meaningless specs.

I have an HDTV. Regardless of whats shown on it, it looks good. I don't care if FOX is really recording in 640x480 and then upconverting to 720p. It looks good on my end, I'm happy, and thats the point. Same with these games. Its a video GAME, not video SPEC SHEET. Play the game, have fun, and get over it.

I think you need to read what "720" actually stands for.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p

720 = 1280x720

If the game does not run at that resolution, it is not 720p. You may stretch that image to fit 1280x720, but it will never be 720p, not to mention it will look horrible.

But, no one gives a crap, right?

No, its not. If you take a 4:3 image and stretch it to 16:9, yes that will be out of aspect. But, 1024x600 resolution is the same 1.7:1 aspect that 1280x720 is. So, its not skewing the image, just enlarging it in the same proportions.

No, a direct screen capture would be at 1280x720. The frame buffer, and processing at 1024x600 is done in the GPU, and then the TV output is processed and scaled up, on the same chip, and then output to the display. If the output was actually coming out of the box at 1024x600, it wouldn't show up as "720p" on peoples TVs. I've played a friends, and its clearly reaching the display at 1280x720.

No one gives a crap, because it doesn't look horrible.

If you had a job and could afford a 360, you would see that every game on this system looks incredible. Then again, your job is to harass people all day on a forum about something you know nothing about.

I think you need to stop talking like you're the only one who knows anything about everything here. I know what HDTV resolutions are. I know what the numbers mean. I get all that. I'm not some nunce. I've had an HDTV for quite some time, and am very into the whole "HT" scene. I get all the terms, tech, and knowledge. Stop the pandering.

And again, I'm not talking for everyone. Stop making it sound like I'm saying "no one gives a crap" like you keep doing. I'm speaking for me, not others. Games are for fun, not blabbering numbers. Does the game look good??? Yes. Is it fun??? Yes. What is the exact resolution, frame rate, sound quality rate, color spectrum????? I Don't care, as long as long as the game is fun.
