@Jordan , how about adding to the 'address bar', (1) what we have to discern from the URL(2).

I often times forget which thread I am in, I hate having to squint at the URL.

My browser (Firefox) puts the thread title in the title bar as well as the URL and also in the tab title.
 
It's the same in Chrome. Just hover your mouse over the tab header. Not much help for tablet/phone users admittedly.
 
This isn't really something I can add, as it would require significant refactoring of the breadcrumb system, including how it behaves with deeper forum paths and longer thread names. Dealing with how this would behave on smaller, mobile screen sizes would be an additional complication.

As Bob noted above, the thread title is usually displayed in the browser's tab for that page, which should make for an easier, always-visible reference of what thread you are in.
