Well, the extra seats dont' seem to matter all the times that the Mustang and 350Z have been compared. Granted, the Z will probably be pricier, but magazines will see two asian, FR, similarly-sized coupes, and they'll be compared.

It'll be interesting how they compare to one another. How much would the Genesis stack up to that Z, for a big undercut?

Kind of like Comparing the AMX and the '69 Corvette. ish. not really.

-> If I'm talking a benchmark for an FR sports car, that would be the S2000 if were talking a full fledge FR sports car. I've driven the Z, it was alright, but short compared to the S2000 for full driving pleasure. :)

-> I'm really looking forward on how determined Hyundai really is, stacking up against the Mustang V6/GT, RX-8, Civic Si, GTI, 350Z (JP), and S2000 (VB). The Eclipse is a joke being on that meeting, other than its sound system. :indiff:

To be unveiled in LA in a few hours.

Edit: I LOVE that color.

Hey! Hyundai! I'm peeeekiiiing...

It does look interesting thus far, a bit more aggressive than that silver one. I also don't see that odd kink.

-> I can't wait too see the car in person this weekend. I will post my initial reactions to the vehicle after I get back to LA. :)

Hyundai Press Release
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2007 – Hyundai unveiled its highly anticipated Concept Genesis Coupe during a press conference at the Los Angeles International Auto Show today. The concept car heralds the introduction of an all-new, rear-wheel drive 2 + 2 sports coupe scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009. Following the introduction earlier this year of the Concept Genesis sedan, Concept Genesis Coupe signals Hyundai's second step in broadening its appeal to driving enthusiasts.

The Sonic Orange concept is complemented by a Ballistic Black carbon fiber hood, roof and ground effects for reduced weight. Strong hints of the production version are highlighted in its "Z" bodylines and powerful curves. When the production sports coupe arrives, it likely will be the most affordable 300+ horsepower car on the market, and the most dynamic performance car yet from Hyundai.

It looks like the Tibby and the LF-A had a baby, and I like it. I wish they would have done the V8 package, that would have been awesome, but I guess I'm more interested in prices anyways.

This segment is still dominated by the Mustang IMO, but with the Camaro and Challenger coming, this could get interesting quickly...

I have to say that this thing is quite attractive.

I'd probably lean towards the Camaro V6--but if there is any V8 possibility in either the Hyundai or a Mustang GT priced the same or cheaper than the V6 Camaro I'm all over those two.

And quite frankly this thing is more than attractive...check this photo out.

That is by far the best view of the whole car...and if those exhausts stay I so want this car.

OMG... a Hyundai I actually want.

The world is ending as we know it. I can't wait to drive one of these around...

I wish it lost the Tiburon lines and that hitch caused by the rear quarter window. Rest of the car looks great. I love JCE's shot angle, too. Those tail lights are awesome. 👍

Back end is awesome. And if they're really benchmarking it against the E46 M3 dynamically, I only hope it's as fun to drive. This could be epic 👍

Hyundai has made up for our eye injuries from the first two generations of tiburon.

I strongly disagree. THIS is a good looking car...especially in black on black.

It didn't take Hyundai, or Korea in general to leap from "Worst new car available" to "Good For The Price" to "Quality to match and Prices that beat the Japanese"

-> Wow, this IS the coupe to get!

^ Alright! D1GP's newest drift car is here! I can't wait to drive both I-4 Turbo and the V6!

~> 2-door fastback + RWD + 4-cyl Turbo + less $$$ = next drift car

:)👍

Thats pretty kick-ass. I don't know if I'd be willing to swap it out for a Mustang GT any time soon as the "King Coupe," but nevertheless, this is going to be one helluva car for the money!

Its damn close. I just can't believe the production model looks THAT good. I LOVE the odd quirky front and the rear is just heavenly. I'm actually very interested to hear some numbers from each engine choice. The 4cyl turbo might be the one to get for value's sake while the V6 & V8 might compete with the Mustang. Give me one in black on black please with those rims and I'll call it a day. :D

*edit*

With a rear wheel drive platform and the entry level engine as a 2.0 liter turbo producing 215hp, the Genesis Coupe is off to a great start. But Hyundai is out for blood and takes it a bit further with a 3.8 liter V6 making approximately 300hp

!!!! SOLD

Oh, and I'm seriously believing that Hyundai comes up with a tuner company to rival Nismo, SVT, and etc--and they WILL use the new 4.6L V8 in this car which should be orgasmically brilliant.

I bet this one will be even better looking in real life. I don't like these two paticular shots.

Random thought: Its too bad the Tiburon name will be murdered. I think it would be proper if they just named this the Tiburon. Its a cool name for a coupe...

The are not murdering the Tiburon name. I remember a quote from a certain high end Hyundai employee, that this car is completely different from the Tiburon, and that they plan on keeping the FWD Tibby around.👍

Edit: and I still hate that rear window. Rest of the car is good, especially the rear.

One problem:

It already looks like the Tiburon

If I got this new Coupe I'd pay to put the Concept's body kit on. That nose looks a little thin, but still very cool 👍

If the Tibby and this will be sold concurrently, I tihnk Hyundai needs to take serious steps in making the Tibby the Civic competitor it once was rather than the Eclipse/tC competitor it is today.

Ummm...wow? That interior...

Really wow... I mean, I can see some cheap materials on the dash, but it looks shockingly good!

Damn, look at those seats! I bet those are fantastic. Wasn't the whole point of this car to be a Tiburon revolution, basically? I think they're gone beyond that. The side profile looks much more "performance coupe" than the 350Z!
