Hopefully the do include support for proper clutch usage, even if its mainly aimed at people with wheels, at least have the option there for those few who will try using it on a controler.
Is there still a big difference between the wheel with clutch times and the controller times?
I remember there was always about 1.5-2seconds difference (wheel was faster) when the fast laps/league started here on GTP
Can't disagree with that. Except for the Clutch. The Clutch on the G25 is essentially an ON/OFF Switch. This can be achieved just as well with a button.
You guys do realise real life clutches have very little feedback, the 'feel' of the clutch is mostly dependant on the diaphram spring, position of the engaging spot is adjustment and wear and ~95% of the actual feedback is from the vehicles reaction in motion and sound (to a lesser extent vision and even more lesser vibration through the pedal due to friction) .
In games your feedback will pretty much be sound and visual and the main ingredient missing as always will be motion. The general feel/profile can be added with springs, like the Fanatec Porsche clutch that is springed to be 'poppy' rather than linear.
The clutch option in FM3 is great, I don't really like to use it, but the problem is that it's either ON or OFF, no slow gradual take offs to prevent tire spin
It's quite difficult to actually get a hold of them. The only way is really through Sony of Japan
How many additional fingers do you have to grow to be able to manual shift using a controller AND use the clutch.... ?
Left analog for steering
X - Acceleration
Square - Brake
O - Clutch
L1 - Shift Down
R1 - Shift Up
Thats my purrrfect set up. I'm not a fan of L2 and R2 as they don't have enough feel to them for racing, although you get more control.
Left analog for driving
Right analog as shifter
L2 for brake
L1 for clutch
R2 for acceleration
In my opinion that would be the most realistic set up for a controller, but nothing beats the real thing.
