I just sold my first print!

This car got destroyed in a later round of the Scottish Sprint & Hillclimb Championship, and the driver wanted a nice picture of it for his study.

That was taken with a Canon EOS 5d and an EF70-200 F/2.8L IS lens.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Considering that I made less than £5 over the printing cost (some idea for you there Dust Driver) I feel extraordinarily pleased with myself.

I want to establish a reputation for providing quality prints of good shots. I'm not charging a whole lot, but I want to be able to say that I'm shooting well enough that people want to put their hand in their pocket for a print. Mission achieved in this instance.

Do you know anything about istockphoto? Now that you mention it, I might put up some of my photos on there. Do you retain owner, or do they then own the photograph? I'm looking at the site now, but you seem to know something about it. ^^;

You would have to read the site's license to know the exact details, but the way I understand it pictures become royalty free. That means you get paid on a per-download basis rather than a % of revenue when somebody uses your pictures. You have to take a quiz and provide some samples to be able to post pictures, which is a nice crap-stopping barrier.
