Ah, my bad... I see that they only sell TrailBlazers... that must be what I saw back in Chiba. On another note Corvettes are rather expensive over there...

Besides 300ZX, I was also thinking of the MX-5 Roadster... but I dunno how the Japanese think of it as opposed to in the US ppl look at it as a girly car.

Eunos Roadster is not a bad car over here. I was also thinking of a Datsun 280ZG or something similar to that. I'm thinking of how a 280ZG would run with an RB25 or a VG30DETT tuned to about 450ps. It would be seriously fast, but it would also have serious traction issues. I actually want to start highway racing just for fun. That's something I would do if I didn't have any battles to participate in. Hmm... it might be a good idea..

Hm... put in another vote for the Sil-80, I have a great deal of interest in that car, and not even I know why.

Well after work my dad picked me up the RPS13, a.k.a. the Sil-eighty. The engine was blown which is good, I didn't count on using the stock 209ps SR20DET. I'm currently looking for the Nismo SR20DET that comes in the S15 Silvia Spec R. But it's midnight, so I'm going to sleep getting ready for Motegi tomorrow morning. I'm racing my dad in my FC against his R32. If I win... well hopefully something good will happen.

Hah, that'd be interesting if they made an Initial D movie using real people as actors. I don't feel like doing anything tomorrow, but I must work. I got my list of cars on my e-mail... all I see is Soarers, Aristos, and MR Spyders... tomorrow is going to suck. At least they're giving me a Supra to work on though. And the Sil-eighty is sitting on my driveway... I can't work on it until this Saturday. But my dad is getting me the Nismo SR20DET this week, so I'm not complaining. I don't know the statistics on that particular engine, but I know that it's going to be pretty quick. I think this is going to be my last or second to last car of this year, I need to focus on my Trueno... to make it faster. I'm not sure on how to make that engine any more powerful without changing it from N/A. I guess the only thing I can do is make it lighter. I'm tired. I goto sleep now.

I just finished going through all the threads, and i must admit that i truely look up to you. I wish, i was living in japan, and rancing down the toughs every week end! >_<~

Well thanks, I didn't think I'd be getting this kind of feedback. And it's touge, not tough ;-). Even though they are a little tough to drive on.

I got off work early because I finished every single car that was on my list, so I was given the rest of the day off. My dad and I are going to rip apart the RPS13's blown engine, so I can get my new SR20DET into her. I need to pick up my suspension in a little while to finish the car. I need ideas for wheels. It's a black Sil-eighty, so what kind of wheels do you guys think will look good on the car?

-Tom

Volk GT-Ns or Advan Gymkhanas or wait, wait ummm SSR MkII or even IIIs!!! Now you got me all excited...

IMHO Black and Gold/Bronze look real good together. Well, at least that's just my opinion :) .

Oh I wanted to ask you something. I'm getting a '89-'90 Cefiro (hopefully) this December (they're pretty cheap here). I just wanted to know what people in Japan think of 4-door drift cars? Especially the Cefiro. Anyways, that's it...:)

Everyone loves 4 door drift cars over here. The Cefrio is an awesome car for drifting... now that I'm thinking, I might want to start a 4 door drift project... I like them, especially you know... ER34? Thanks for the wheel options, I'll look into them. I also love the black/gold look. My FC has the gold Mazdaspeed 5 spoke wheels on it.

 You are just plain cool..I read all your posts two or three times over just to make sure I read it all right..how much money do you people have over there? I'd kill and kill once more for any one of the cars you have in your sig..it's so unfair, you/ your dad get those, and my dad gets a Sunfire and I got a bicycle....:banghead:

My dad is quite wealthy, but he spends it on productive things. He said he'll never own any "high-class" car (Ferrari, etc.). He made a lot of money racing when we first moved here, but then he just didn't want to anymore. So he just stays home, building his cars, or his friend's cars. I make decent money over here. Being a supervisor for Tokyo's Toyota dealership is quite an honor for me. But the reason I never have money is because of a few reasons. First, gas. 100 Octane gasoline is expensive. My car is no Honda... Second, tyres. I go through a set of tyres every other week. If I race on the circuits, I'll bring two sets of four tyres with me. Combined with gas... there goes a whole months paycheck. Lately I've been doing rain battles. It saves your tyres, and I don't really have to "try" to initiate the drift. It just does it for me. Third, parts. I have to replace my suspension on my AE86 usually twice a year. This year has been good for me, only once I had to replace my suspension. Brake pads are pretty expensive for me too. Like I said before, it's no Honda. A bicycle isn't bad. Have you ever seen China? Everyone and their mother has a damn bicycle... I'm really considering doing a 4 door drift car after the Sil-eighty is done. Well, right now I'd like to focus on the problem at hand... finishing this damn car. Well I'm glad you think I'm "cool." ;)

-Tom

Yep..does sound expensive. But I've always wondered: With the touge and races that go on there, is it for money? Bragging rights? Just for fun? And it is every night, every other night, certain days? and last, how many people are usually racing/watching? (Sorry to bombard you with questions, it's just it all seems really interesting to me...)

Hey, by any chance could I crash there? I could sleep in the garage. I wouldn't mind. I was thinking of going there, probably next year.

You should start a 4-door project. I remember a guy asked me why I think 4-door cars are cool. I said "Because everybody has coupes and hatches". I still think they're great.

Oh, in case you were wondring, I was kidding about crashing there... :dopey:

It's usually not for money... actually it's never for money. I've never seen a race that involved money. Bragging rights... of course. Fun... damn yes. The races are 90% on the weekends. Friday and Saturday nights. On the weekdays, the locals usually practice at night. Since I live in Tokyo, I'm in the middle of all the passes. So I'm not a "local" to any of them, which is why I goto every pass, I don't stick to one like most people. I want to dominate everyone, at every mountain pass. That's my main goal. Only that damn silver BNCR33 has beaten me though. But I think I said it on an earlier post. Since my dad always goes with me to the passes, if he sees that BNCR33, he will race him and beat him for me. When there's a huge race going on, the galleries (dumb name, but if you watch Initial D, you know what it is) are always jammed with people that just want to watch. When there's not a big race, the galleries is just a big car show down every other hairpin. When I race somebody that's tough, my friends will tell everyone to come to the race so they can watch me. I think the coolest thing I've done on the passes, is drift on a straight, going from 4th gear, to a 2nd gear hairpin in one drift is a good accomplishment for me. I always wanted to see what I'd look like if I was watching myself race. How many people race? Well it all depends. If there's a once in a lifetime race occuring, there're usually one or two battles. My dad has raced twice... both times I didn't go (I think I was doing something to my car), and everyone told me how awesome he was, and asked why I didn't go, etc. On a normal night, where they're no pre-scheduled battles, there's about 5-6 good races. The most I've seen was I think 8 in one night. One of these days I'll hopefully ride shotgun in my dad's next battle... but I seriously doubt it. Don't worry about the barrage of questions, I came on this board to answer questions about Japanese racing. Hope this helped.

Pay for your ticket, I have an extra room.;) Good responce about the 4-door cars. I'm wondering if I should start a JZX100? Now that I think about it... it gets better and better.
