Well there is the Clio cup in GT3 professional league. Can't say I enjoyed it much.

Both the street version and the race-prep version are in GT3. I enjoy driving the car, but I like mid-engine RWD vehicles.

Actually not. There are three Renaultsport Clios currently available.

Renaultsport Clio 172 - A 2.0 16v, 172hp front-engine, front-drive hot hatch. Soon to be discontinued.

Renaultsport Clio 172 Cup - Same as above but 100kg lighter. This model proved so popular that the regular 172 is being discontinued in it's favour (despite having a options list that starts with "body" and ends with "wheels"). 0-60mph is 6.3s, a record for a production FF.

Renaultsport Clio V6 255 - Replacement for the 230 as seen in GT2/GT3. Mid-engine, Rear drive 255PS 3.0 V6 - handling much improved over the 230 version, but still suffers from a woeful turning circle (about 30 feet) and a total load space of about 30 litres (passenger seat and a single holdall under the bonnet). 0-60mph is 5.2s.

civic may have brilliant engines but handling and chassis dont match the engine peformance Clio cup would beat a civic round a track

I thought the ford focus RS could hit sixty in about 5.9 seconds?? Civic verses clio cup....hmmm....from EVO magazine: clio cup 5 stars, Civic type R 4 stars (due to having poor feel in the steering from what I remember), but for a daily driver the civic would win....no nasty lift of oversteer on a wet island when you don't want it, although it can be provoked

So will the Neon SRT - 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds or so as described by tha manfacturer. In tests they've done better than that even.

at the end of the day manufacture's 0-60 figures are a waste of time and usally result in failure of the car (clutch or gearbox) in gear figures are the ones to look at. That neon sounds interesting though....will it have the suspension to match the engine???

The suspension is decent, stock - Neons have always been top handlers, believe it or not. If not, the suspension can be brought up to quality spec for around $1500 or so.

Let me put it this way: a Neon SRT, running a Mopar Performance Stage II engine kit and Neon ACR adjustable struts, just placed 8th overall in the One Lap of America competition. You could duplicate that car for a little less than the cost of a new, plain-vanilla WRX; well under the cost of an Evo VIII or Sti.

And let me add that that was against other, much more expensive cars, such as a Lamborghini, Porsches, Vipers, highly modified Corvettes, etc. (BTW, the SRT-4 place first in its category).
