btw does someone remember lotus elise gt1 from gt2? was one of my favorites back then was very upset they did drop it in the succeeding games. there are like 200+ cars easily which would make the game more interesting (ford gt90 etc. speed 12 (no idea why speed 6 is there but 12 isn't) design is much more sick, they could also add an engine swap to chirons etc). but i guess current fidelity level doesn't allow to "mass produce" cars anymore. you need very good 3d artists (specialized) and it probably takes around a month to finish a car (if they are fast, someone needs to provide them with very good reference materials so you need dudes who fly over the world and photograph, scan and record all the data). and it becomes a question of economy, they (pd) should literally open pools where people can vote for cars they want AND DONATE to make it happen (so they can hire extra artists to do the job) i think they just balance this out (can't overhire people, cause it basically won't pay off)
i think this would be fastest and fairest way to add more cars to the game. (i think they have a lot of contacts and experience so they could estimate costs for the desired cars)

Just need to utilise what's available (3d modelling studios). Pretty sure Forza use Hum3D & PMR utilise Assetto modders 'Race Sim Studio' and the like.

To some extent, they have given outsourcing a try (I believe The Honda Civic FK8 is one of those models, unless I am mistaken) and when you look at it, you see why PD chose THAT studio to do so.

models are in decent quality right now i don't see much sense to push it further (i am talking about LOD0) to get better (realistic) representation i would "wait" till neural rendering matures and let it do "the heavy lifting" (which basically will make stuff look photorealistic without needing to have super detailed geometry/materials) you are now in "diminishing returns" territory, you could up the poly count x4 but basically it would do almost nothing for the overall perception of cars. (but this would require decent chunk more of storage and processing memory etc, which will make stuff slower)
the only thing i can think of is improved representation of entrails of the cars (cause now they are skipped if not visible) but thats just another layer, you could basically do it on top what exists right now (as separate models which sit inside and are only used in showcase mode and similar, in races there is no point in it, just wasting resources)

it's not that simple, every game has it's own requirements/pipelines etc. you should make sure all the dimensions (and technical things like topology/uvs) are correct etc. so if you want to make it right "it's simpler" to remade the model following all the guidelines and requirements (i bet pd has plenty of them)

Let me know how often you drive it when they add it and the 992 GT3 R is still 5 tenths quicker around every circuit under BoP, which is the only place you'd use it anyway because anyone asking for more Gr.3 garbage is not creative enough to make their own fun and needs the game to feed them their slop.
I don't race online and don't care about how cars perform online. The GT7 BoP nerfs the cars so much, it doesn't correspond to reality (the Gr.3 are running 400-500 bhp which is 100 bhp less than they do IRL).

I want the car because it's BMW's current GT3 car. What I do care about is people having to paint the WRT and ROWE cars on the M6 with stupid painted beaver nose on the car.

Since you mentioned the 992, I'm not sure how it translates to Sport Mode but it already has an advantage in the form of better fuel economy than other Gr.3 cars. It's not the best (Lexus has better range, but the Lexus has poor performance unlike the Porsche), but it's up there. It's no wonder people hate it if the BoP also makes it fastest (when it shouldn't).

Even in reality. Spa 24h proved what happens if Porsche is left unchecked. The Lionspeed won from 60th place, with two other Porsches fighting for the Top 5 against lone Ferrari and Mercedes.

Say what you will, even in single player mode, I get far more out of Gr.3 "slop" than from meme cars like Twingo, Suzuki Carry, etc.

He's that guy who would get extremely triggered over fast cars (e.g. supercars and exotics, basically just about any high-performance cars) and race cars, attacking and harassing people over enjoying these cars and wanting more of them for the game, all in favor of ****boxes, like that extremely annoying Renault Twingo that everyone really hates.

Its nice to read other people suggestions, as it serves as a window to see what others thinks its missing / could be improved.
So, out of my headspace I think
  • Silverstone and many city tracks
    • I guess with the obsessive attention to detail of PD they will argue that they need to revisit the city and take photos again
  • Lotus, Koenigsegg, Arta Garaiya, Saleen, Honda HSV cars
    • maybe they werent included for licensing reasons?
  • Variable transparency and/or transparency setting for the ghost car
    • I can not be the only one in here, sometimes the ghost car is just opaque enough to be a burden. So making more transparent as you approach it or just have a transparency setting for us to decide. This setting cannot be that hard to implement
  • In replays, make some settings permanent, like the amount of race info I want to see.
    • Its a minor thing, but I have to set every - frigging - time set this to "I want to see all the info" because my main reasons to watch a replay is to see how the other cars do, see myself so I can get where did I messed up and for that I need all the info
  • Engine Swap Cars
    • Please for the love of god, give us some aerodynamic pieces for cars that lack them, like the Renault R4.
    • "But hey that would distract the designers from other things" I hear you say, so... why would not make an aero parts design contest? If the decals has showed us anything is that out there are really talented people, let them show their talent.
    • Yep, that has been already mentioned, give the engine swap cars more fuel capacity, maybe there could be some trade off like big tank -> more weight
    • Is PD afraid that engine swapped cars would affect too much other races? make some custom races for Engine Swaps, and / or cars that deviated a certain percentage from their base PP, this could be implemented as a category, just like the "V category" (for vintage) that were also suggested
  • A comment textbox for a car setting
    • Why? I like to race some tracks with different cars, and different cars are handled differently, let it be tyre and fuel strategies, how did you feel that last setting changed the car..
    • let it be a 140 character (unicode is 2-4 bytes per character right?)
    • lets suppose 1000 cars per player
    • 140 unicode characters times 4 bytes times 1000 cars = 560,000
    • divide that by 1024 and you have 546.875 Kilo bytes extra per player save file
    • I dunno the ins and outs of the savefile cloud storage shennanigans but it doesnt seem that it will consume that much space
Those are my 2 ce... well more like a dime.

The Renault Twingo is a fantastic car, an icon! Maybe everyone in your circle hates it but judging by the liveries and the tuned version is see - your conclusion is completely wrong

The option to choose a level of realism or even customize it to our liking, I think would do a lot of people happy.

This and making the penalty system actually punish the offender instead of most of the time, the victim. I've seen a lot of videos on YouTube where drivers were rammed off track and they were penalized for cutting or some drivers were knocked off of the track and the offender cut the corner after and the victim was penalized for "Forcing another car off-track" while the offender who blasted through the corner afterwards ended up scot-free.

Edit: Oh! Something I almost forgot. To not only penalize the player in Singleplayer events for mistakes but also doing so for the AI! I've raced in some of the stricter, penalty-including WTC events where the AI blatantly cut the corners after they shoved their car in on my car to rubberband back into first place and they were unaffected.

Another three ideas that I'm quite sure would be popular:
1. Giving the players the option to, if they want, to do a qualification session. Edit: And if they don't want to, to let them skip.
2. Adding the option to use standing starts instead of starting last and in some events, half a minute behind the leader.
3. Adding the option to remove rubberbanding.

Nitpicking indeed, I am not the one who expressed its complaints by overreacting. His reaction was deliberately exaggerated; it didn't necessarily call for a literal response. I just came to shed some light on what he might have been feeling.

Now go tell Polyphony Digital you're grateful for what is good, a bit less for the flows, without telling them what these are. I am not sure that this will be more constructive than a simply random hot-tempered message. No response along the lines of "it's all garbage" or "there are some good things and some not-so-good things" will help them achieve their goal.

They are in their own bubble and need an outside perspective that will home in on very specific points. But good news, they are aware of it, otherwise they wouldn't be asking for our opinions.
sorry make out of it what you want, but i don’t got time for a conversation like this

this could also be "pay to get" (tracks/cars/something else)

the same goes to this, this all is basically "a lot more extra labor" they don't add too much stuff at once because it would overwhelm them in sense of capacities (they would need to do too much) you can clearly see it in all features they add (initially) it's very minimalistic/recyclable, so they have to do less potential work and don't shoot themself in the feet, overtime they extend it.
gran turismo bottleneck is basically visual assets.
temporally hiring "extra hands" is the only solution idk. well in the future ai will help with that as well, but you still would need "supervisors" etc. and also in the end you shouldn't forget what everything takes space in storage (persistent) i mean gran turismo could allow itself to be a 1TB game but still you need to watch this so it don't get overbloated.

LMAO I'd love to hear about this weird-ass cult you're in that's convincing you everyone hates the Twingo. Maybe it's the same one that told you Blackpink was "weird and creepy" and full of "stalkers". Go on, tell everyone about that too while we're here. I wanna hear about it.

If we could refrain from the snide remarks on either side of the isle, that'd be great.

We get it: Each side has something they like and don't like, but resorting to these responses (and intentionally mis-using "We" to describe what you don't like) is not necessary.

I would love for them to allow you to fine tune the AI. What I mean is allow you to adjust the the aggressiveness and maybe how closely they follow the racing line

The only thing I hate about the Twingo and the R4 is my lack of expertise to make them Sarthe ready.
I mean I did win 1 time La Sarthe with an engine swapped R4, more thanks to a heavy rain than to my skills. The twingo is also in that "almost there" territory

Or when the AI takes a Pit Stop in Suzuka Circuit, If I take the same route as the AI, I'll get a 3 second penalty, I have to take a long route in order to avoid the penalty, but I get the feeling that the "correct route" takes more time than the penalty, so you know what they say:
"If the penalty of doing something wrong is less than the benefit of the wrongdoing, You'll assume the penalty as the cost of doing business"
And dont get me started on the AI when under heavy rain, the AI is supposed to be careful but on zones previous to sharp curves the AI is prone to ram you

There isn't a "long route" for Suzuka's pit entry.

You only get a penalty (of three seconds) for touching the solid white (or yellow, at some tracks) line demarcating the pit lane and circuit.

The AI never gets penalties for anything, for reference.

Bring back shuffle racing and allow us to use the cars we've built for daily races. It would be a lot of fun to pit our vehicles together online without needing to join an open lobby. Like Forza Horizon, you'll have a rotating roster of tracks and classes so you aren't driving the same car on the same track for a week straight. You won't be able to qualify either. Imagine having 600PP, 700PP and 800PP classes where anything goes! Another thing this game needs is better ghosting so people can actually survive the race without being punted immediately. It works rather well in Forza Horizon so there's no reason why Gran Turismo can't do it.

I've been doing "the long route" for months...😲
I feel like I've been assisting to a pool party while wearing coat tails... for months...
Now I remember a shame that I had not feel since elementary school😖
thank you for the correction

I'm trying to work out what the long route that you are talking about is.

I admit, I'd love to see the Custom Race credits bonus not being dependent on Circuit Experience completion.

I'm not very good at all at these and I can't manage to get more than Silver or Bronze in some sectors because I'm slow and restarting the same sector or track many times makes me lose hope. I recall trying out the full lap on Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve about 35-40 times to just get Silver.

Not only that but when they change the physics it feels like the required times get harsher and harsher.

I think you're conflating the Twingo with cars like the CR-V, Qashqai, and C-HR that are kind of wasted space with how slow and how few engine tuning options they have. Racing is possible in almost any car but these are very disappointing and are understandably hated. And the crazy aero that two of them have is troll behavior from PD lol

I'm trying to work out what the long route that you are talking about is.

I assume they've been using the pit entry before the Casio Triangle.
heres the link to a google earth view of Suzuka Race track
In the attached image, the green is the normal, the orange is the "long route" :ouch:

So as I thought, you've been using the one that starts before the casio Triangle (which I believe is the Moto Pit entrance given how narrow it is)

  • I was thinking of how to motivate me more to use other cars and a thought came to me of doing a sort of level system for each car. I know maybe this can't make to GT7 but there is a chance it can make it to GT8. Basically it would be a level system for each car. You race the selected car and you gain Exp. Level cap to 30 or 70. I kept thinking maybe add in some unique body kits that can only be unlocked by reaching those maxed levels in each individual car. There would be also some sort of special type of decal that could be place in your car once you reach those levels. (In Tourist Trophy if you won a championship race series you would get a special number 1 that could be visible in your bike this could be done to every bike as long as you won the championships) i just felt like it would be a cool idea.
  • I feel that maybe something can be done more about time trials. You could choose the car and there would be a time trial for you to gold. So for every car there would a time trial that you needed to gold. It would apply BOP settings. But there could be a tuned version of it. So there would be 2 Time Trials in total for each car for every track. A BOP one and a Tuned One. Make them challenging and you would earn Credits for Golding them. I feel this won't make it to GT7 but it was just a thought for GT8 (And again. The main point is to motivate everyone to use more cars) (Not just some specific ones)
  • This one might be only for GT8. To be able to make my own body kits. Like to be able to shape them and mold them to the way i want them. I feel there could be a way. I know it would be more complicated then the decal system. But there was once a time i thought the decal system was never going to happen. (GT8)
  • To able to modify the interior. The seats. Or the steering wheel or the manual shift. (GT8)
  • To be able to look at the engine and see all the details of the engine including modifications done to it. Long usage would make it look dirty. It can be cleaned at GT Auto (GT8)
  • So there would be Car level. Account level. And Character Level. Character level is for your character. In here You can unlock different type of suits and clothing. There are pants jackets boots shoes etc. But it would cost credits. That way you can grind. So there would be race type suits obviously. Motorcycle type suits. Then there would be street type apparel. (GT8) (And this is because i do hope they add motorcycles) lol
  • To be able to add gauges to interior. GT6 had it and you could change their colors.
  • This one is one that i've wanted for some time. To be able to to gift cars to other accounts in your PlayStation. (Or Sell them)
  • Then lastly. I was thinking of maybe like a prestige type system. Where once you reach your max level on whatever it is. You can reset it and you get to prestige it and it adds something to your account so that everyone can see (Like in Call of Duty) (I don't know if it's still a thing) lol Maybe max is 5 times. So you can prestige 5 times.
  • Actually one last thing. If possible in GT8. To be able to modify the exhaust system. So if wanted it from the sides. Or i wanted a centered exhaust i could create it.
