Man, it's going to be one looong push for me to get to lvl 30... only on lvl 21 and trying to find a way past GT All-Stars and Like the Wind. Going to take me months.

Considering we've probably got 5 years or so until GT6, I'm glad this game isn't progressing super fast.

I've been playing a ton and I'm just now level 20A/15B.

" .. we all know how simple silver and bronze are... " haha

Are you being serious?

i guess i am, i usally oneshot silver ..then get stuck on gold. im not saying he isnt fast, he took gold in less then half its required time.

From what I'm reading, you have to complete two laps in that allotted time. Thanks Notpig53 for pointing the times out.
This driver has some phenomenal skill though, he probably makes it look easier than it is.

I can't wait to spend a weekend on this challenge.

I think you're misunderstanding.

There is no logic in your sentence. "he took gold in less than half its required time".

If you're referring to the lap time in the video, the 2:10 or whatever is what's required for 2 laps combined.

And if you're "oneshotting" silver on this challenge, I applaud you, though I have my doubts. No disrespect, it's just that the challenge is very very demanding.

You're in for a treat :) I got mine yesterday :)

yup your right.

TBQH, this car really goes against the game's title as a "driving simulator". I doubt we will have cars cornering at over 260Mph like that.

Not taking away from the player who has obviously become very situated the car and put in a blistering lap.

Yeah, that looks like he nailed every corner and at that speed it looks like a VERY, very hard thing to accomplish. It will take tons of practice and getting used to that sort of speed will be its own accomplishment! So, when will we see these things racing in real life? My guess is the audience stands will have to be at least 300-400 yards from the track just in case of crashes! :D

The top speed isn't that crazy. This car has extremely low drag because all of its downforce is generated from fans. An F1 car has a terrible drag coefficient, it's like a brick wall.

But yeah, the tires wouldn't be able to handle the cornering, they'd just come apart.

Not necessarily. Its not as if that car would just have any old racing tires. If it were real, it would likely have specially designed tires specifically for this car because of the cornering speeds it takes.

Keep in mind, this was designed with no rules or regulations and it uses some banned racing technologies, which naturally make that possible. Also, you never know. We might have cars that manage to do it twice as fast.

is it true that they don't need the thumbs to drive?

The second time I watched that video I found that odd too...

I noticed it at the first turn on the second lap, I might have taken a 3 second mental excursion to think about the handling of the car, graphical modeling at PD, etc. and the driver was all the way through the "esses" portion of the track.

That is my favorite portion of that track, I can't wait to try it with the X1.:sly:

To all who say it's impossible, there is this...

but there's a catch.

I agree, especially considering the trouble CART had at Texas Motor Speedway in 2001 with drivers exceeding 5G's...

Yeah, that's the part that never sat well with me, and its not just for this car. There are other cockpit views were the driver doesn't use his thumbs. Never understood why Poly did that.

But back to this... 300k at esses, 400k at 130R. Ridiculous.

Regardless of what rules it does & doesn't have to follow, it still has to follow some form of real world physics, and unless PD has made up some type of new tire, I don't believe we will have a tire that can grip the corners of Suzuka at over 200Mph like nothing to begin with. Formula 1 cars are pretty advanced, but even with banned technology, I really don't see the capabilities of the X1 ever coming to life.

You're an idiot talking about CART and what it can handle in this thread. CARTs have generic chassis, as well as generic aerodynamics. Arcade? Not quite. GTFO. . .👎

Seems appropriate, considering it was the X-1, and we're talking about the X-1, and there's a demon that lives behind the 250 MPH cornering barrier I heard.

Try understanding his post before you call anyone an idiot.

The CART series in 2001 had drivers running around the track at 230Mph, experiencing 5G's. Drivers reported several signs of dizziness and sickness. Now considering how much more advanced the X1 is, it is going to be nigh impossible for the X1 in the game to anything like that in real life; the driver would blackout.

There is one thing that makes this car from being possibly being real. That is the fact that no tire could handle cornering like that, the tires would have to be advanced as the car!

But the problem was continuous G forces in 1 direction, because it is in oval. In theory an F1 driver like Vettel should be able to handle this car around a road course of some sort with not too much issue. Probably only for a few laps but enough. F1 drivers are in far greater physical shape than any of the CART guys back then or IRL guys today.
