It was said ALONG time ago that GT5 was going to be a huge micro transaction.

You would only get a handful of cars/tracks and would have to pay real money for the rest.

That hint/idea/rumor didn't take long to be taken back. It was also on wiki.

I PERSONALLY think we are owed all the cars... or at least ~500 being /that other game/ has almost 500 cars with full cockpits.

Would I pay for them? no. I find myself only using the cockpit view just to see how the inside looks. End up using bumper cam mostly.

I would much rather them add/fix all these features that were supposed to be in the game, graphic issues fixed, server issues, online races... ect ect.. Then start converting all the GT1/2/3 cars over.

Must admit though I'm blown away at how awful some of these cars look.

If you dont want it, dont buy it? You bought the disc of content you had when installing, anything else, patches, free DLC is bonus, noone is forcing you to pay extra.

While I normally agree with this sentiment, the way gt5 was marketed makes me feel a little less cut and dry on the "if you didn't know what was in the box that's your fault" reasoning I would normally apply.

The missinformation flying around and often surprising decisions were pretty thick.

Also the way pd handled it with keeping the uglies very hush hush you really didn't have a way to know what you were getting and for many what was in the box was not a reasonable expectation.

So that considered I feel people do have the right to be pissed for being charged for stuff that was reasonablly expectable as in the box.

sounds like you bought a REAL car too. Getting charged extra for oil changes, alignments, etc. lol. sorry for getting off topic but yeah. I'd pay for it because it's a car I have that you don't have ;)

BMW/Mercedes/Jag is pretty much all covered :)

Did I mention the genesis coupe? I hate to admit this, but I'm sort of a fan of the new shelby GT500 too -.-

I would find it a bit of a kick in the balls, if we had to pay for the upgraded models, as all those cars are available anyway. I would probably end up buying them anyway, since I have way too much money to throw around. :p

If they buy new licenses like Porsche or Koenigsegg for example i would definitely be willing to pay for it.

If the standard->premium upgrades are going to happen in updates, how big are they going to be. I would expect them to be quite large due to the amount of detail...

I will be happy to pay for new car dlc however if you had to pay to upgrade existing cars to premium then i will not be happy and wouldn't do it.

I doubt cars will be available for sale on the PS network, premium or otherwise. It only takes one person to buy them and then to give them away to all his/her friends as gifts and then re-download them for free. This is how the PS network works. Once something is purchased it can be downloaded as many times as the user wishes on the same account. So the gifting and how the PSN works will kill any kind of profits for PD in the first place. After all, PD is here to make money like the rest of the commercial world. The only realistic way to make money for PD is to sell extra tracks & events as DLC on the PSN. Those can't be gifted.

Yeah, if they were new and different cars (not boring ones like in some of the Forza 3 car packs), or even the return of Venturi/Vector, then i'd pay for them if they weren't too expensive. But the Standard cars should be 'Premiumised' for free in my opinion.

i'd be willing to pay a couple of quid simply to be able to change the god awful wheels my XJ220 has on it.
I'd also buy Testarossa and Lambo Diablo SE30

I would not pay for game updates to functionality for what was supposed to be in the game. I would lose faith in the GT series if they expected this of me.

I might (grudgingly) pay for upgrading Standard cars to Premium.

I would gladly pay for new tracks and challenges.
I would gladly pay for new Premium cars.

No I wouldn't be upset.

No I wouldn't pay much if it were available. 800 cars @ $.50/car = $400! LMAO, not in this house. They'll be included in GT6. I can wait.

Of course I would be mad to say the least. That in fact would actually be insulting. :ouch: I will not ever buy DLC from this game. Not until EVERY car in the game is Premium. If they even think of releasing DLC it sure as heck better be free if the othe standard cars are not updated to premium. This isnt even negotiable at all. :grumpy:

Even mentioning GT6 or DLC for GT5 instantly makes me mad.

Considering i and alot of other payed 40 aus dollars for 10 modern warfare maps i think most people will buy cars. They will cry and moan about having to by cars but i would place a bet on 90% people paying. (dont listen to what i said PD do them for free)

Only some cars will be converted according to the article. I would buy car and track packs more willingly than individual cars or tracks.

Are we talking about paying for cars that are standard now but will be premiums?

If so, then no i wouldnt.

If its actually extra cars, and not the same as we have in the rushed release version, then yes i would quite happily pay.

Id also pay for tracks as well, as long as they are either new ones, or ones we have had before in previous games, but with improved graphics and so on.

AA

If I'm interested in the cars then I'll buy them. It would be better if they were free obviously, but it's not worth making a big deal out of it. I've certainly gotten my $60 worth of enjoyment out of the game already and wouldn't mind paying a little extra at this point for more stuff.

That's not true. There are no leaderboards, online matchmaking system, and I'm not sure but I don't think there is any in game friends invite. All of those are advertised on the box. So not all patches, and DLC, are a bonus. There are still alot of things that were suppose to be in the game that are not.

As far as more cars, there are 1000 of them. I really can't see why anyone would want more cars as somrthing for PD to work on, when there are still lots of bugs in the game. More tracks maybe, but more cars can be put on the backburner until the game is fixed and running as it should. I just want the single player fixed. There needs to be a bunch of more events. There is no reason anyone should have to race the same races over and over to get the cars they need for another event. Why not just make some random events. One you can go to and it just cycles all the time giving you different cars, tracks, and rae lengths to run, and make it go by what cars you have in your garage so you always have something fun to run, that you don't have to keep looking in the used car dealer ship for that one car that never seems to be in there. PD really screwed up the single player. I really don't know how they did this. This could have been the greatest driving game of all time, but it's really only good for about 10 hrs and then the grinding starts.

Not paying anything... I feel ripped off...

5 years of developement and they give you about 200 premium cars
but before the end of the year PD is comming with DLC for premium cars?!?!?
thats really nonsence...
(as if they made that in the few weeks after release.. come on PD ..im not naive
its been on the shelf already.. just an extra moneymaker if charged)

Im also really surprised to read in this tread people actualy are willing to pay, and are even quite happy!
so guess im one of the few who's not

Im a console gamer for a reason.. i hate DLC & patches
I want a finished game....
being ripped off on the PC platform for quite some years
playing half decent games waiting for patchups.. and then being charged for it...
Im only playing on consoles now, because of that...
but hey whatayouknow! DLC seems to be nicely intoduced on consoles to!! how nice!!

times are changing I guess, not for the better imho

+1

I'd probably pay somewhere between $1-$2 per premium car as DLC. Of course, I still will only buy the cars I want to drive which will limit the financial impact. Does not matter to me if it is a standard car being upgraded to premium or not. I don't feel the 200 premium cars was some lackluster effort. I doubt it was logistically feasible for them to have done many more and I'm okay with the compromise of including standard models to give us more car selection.

Where does it say were getting DLC cars or tracks, or is the all based on speculation because people are disappointed?
