M5 needs to take a chill pill and go take a nap :p :D  The question was "If YOU had could have...", (lol, just noticed the typo, hahaha). Anyways, emphasis on YOU. Depending on where somebody lives, their lifestyle etc, maybe a Cobra would do them just fine. Me, I'd probably stick with what I've got-if I had to have it the rest of my life: a 1993 Mazda MX3 GS/SE. Why, it's a great, reliable, economic, sporty little ride, that gets me where I want to go, in style, is unique, is familiar, is FWD (something I need-as I will always be in the mountains somewhere, and FWD's tend to get better milage than AWD/4WD's-can go about anywhere they can, if driven right), is just my size, has plenty of cargo room, a back seat and bla bla bla, bla bla bla bla, bla bla bla, bla. I could go on and on about the car, but there's no point, I have it and I am in heaven :) I only wish I had the time/$$$ to finish restoring it to new, and tinker a lil here and there. (mazkid, in case I haven't told ya, which I prolly haven't, the 2.5L should be going in this winter, if all goes as planned-almost free to me :D )

Cobraboy, I think M5 forgot about the thing circled in red, because his diecast model isn't cool enough to have anything but an opening hood and doors :p . heck, I'd bet his steering wheel doesn't even turn :D . just playin around, hehehehe.

Price no object: R34 GT-R 4-door. (I hate getting out to let peeps into the back seat)

In the Real World. Ford Taurus SHO. Fast, good handling, easy to insure, good gas mileage, good people and cargo capacity, reasonable purchase price, no justifying it for the wife...etc.

The 1971 Oldsmobile 442 has a unique set. Can you say gas-guzzler? I think those cars get around six or seven miles on a gallon, now. That, of course, is if they can pass emissions. Don't know where space is living, but here in Illinois, it'd be tough.

Hey the question was"If you had could have only one car for the rest of you life what would it be?"

doesnt say anything about driving it:D

I live in florida, i've seen several around, but i agree it would be tough to pass emitions.

Hey if worse comes to worse, i'll take to body off and strap it to a honda accord chassis:p:D

That's not a handle, it's there to frame the plate. A lot of old cars made, particularly in England, had those things.

That's what I was thinking. But in a Cobra it would just blow away!

Did they ever make hard tops for Cobras?

Ah the famous or infamous 4door GTR. This was a project not so much by nissan as it was never officially mass produced, but by Autech in Japan. They are extremely rare as less than 50 were built. Taking a GTS4 and graphting on GTR front and rear guards, and dropping in GTR Running gear with a special driveshaft and loop assembly.
The hp was the same 280ps factory standard but in real life they produced just on 317 hp.
All were manual except 2 which were special ordered in automatic! Good choice mate.

Cobra boy, M5, and F50
Who really gives a rats arse whether a cobra has a trunk/boot ! The topic was your choice of car. FFS get a life aye

haha, I was pretty sure it had a trunk, be it small and shiny :) M5, time for you to stand down :p oh, and about it blowing away, that's what racing harnesses are for, isn't it? that's what I always thought, to hold my chair in the seat :D In the case of the miata I had, if I had a passenger, and the weather was good enough for top-down, I just bunjeed it to the shelf behind the seats. this is an amazing one too-if you're really good, you can sit the frame behind the seats, under the roof and on the shelf, putting the two main wheels in that lil trunk-like hole in the back :)

They didn't make the Countach in 1971. 1981, yeah; but not 1971.

On the original question - if I could only ever have one car for the rest of my life it would be a first-generation BMW M5.

I dunno, Duke - aside from supercars (and the case could be made that that is a supercar), that is one of the most costly to maintain vehicles ever.
