I'm tired of players not fair play!

Well, to be honest, you cut the chicane completely, of course you get penalty.

/s

Joking aside my experience is great so far. The vast majority of my races have been fair and clean, with the occasional exceptions that are bound to happen when competing with human opponents.

I do agree though that certain aspects of the penalty system needs some refinement, as is obviously the case in your example. I've had a similar scenario and it's really frustrating.

I have replays for about 20 races over the past 2 days where I was punted off the track. At one point I was DR:B SR:S, within about 10 races I was all the way back to DR:D SR:S. Most of the crap happened in yesterday’s Alsace race. As I sit here right now, I just finished a Willow Spring race wher I was in 8th place and got punted on the first turn on lap 11. He finished 8th, I managed to claw my way back up to 9th. Its frustrating but unless (or until) the rating/matching system changes, there’s really no use in getting all bent out of shape over thing that are out of your control.

Just had the same thing as OP happen to me, turned in to chicane got punted across exit of chicane ended up on line & continued.
I didn't get a time penalty & when I crossed finish SR showed green arrow, SR was blue at end of race.
Only thing I can think for why I didn't get penalty was I didn't hit barrier in chicane & didn't go off track again when re entering track.

SR S from Oct til last week was actually pretty good, this past week was diasterous, doesn't matter what DR, SR S has been a mess with all the dirty racing.

Here is a short excerpt from my race of a moment ago when I get hit and I take penalties. I'm fed up with bad players and unfair penalties !!!watch

Your problem was you were in 11th...

In all seriousness though you did get hosed. At least you did not get put into the wall like that other guy. It sucks, there is no way around that. At least your not out thousand of dollars and over 200 hours of work on the car.

Some of these are unavoidable, and in your case it falls into that category. The benefit of this if you can find any is to be more aware of what is going on all around you at any point of the race.

It is most likely you could not have seen this in rearview or done anything about it, but moving forward it may help you become a smarter driver.

Im sick of people not giving you any room on corner exits when on the outside, lost count of the amount of times i have been put in the weeds when they could of easily taken a slightly tighter line or getting punted up the rear enterinh a hairpin or ecen worse taking the slow in fast out line through a hair pin to find the bloke almost a second behind you smashes into you as you take the apex

Made a French account to see how Europeans race. It’s a demolition derby. We hear bad things about Brazilians. It’s far worse in Europe... I deleted my account promptly. Unbelievable...

How E/E Europeans race probably. Did you expect clean driving in lower ratings? How many races did you make? If you make a new NA account you'll probably find a destruction derby pretty often too.

Also, Europe has a lot more people playing GTS than the Americas so the likelihood of a clean driver finding a dirty noob or inexperienced player is higher IMO.

Well no need to generally make a separate account - go to lobby and remove the region restrictions. Then you can log to more region specific lobbies. Had a very interesting "japanese" room yesterday - mostly clean train driving disrupted only by errors. Still, generalization is not so possible - you can have two next to each other races that are totally different. Also depends on time of day due to demographics :D...

DR:A SR:S is full of clean drivers. It really is. Problem is though they're all so fast (get matched with DR:S all the time in dailies).

True but it also has enough dirty drivers to cause a problem, the game just lets them do it without penalty, so it's no surprise more are starting to drive dirty. Earlier on I watched one guy have intentional contact with about 5 cars (including me) in just a lap and a bit, only ending when I turned away from a corner and he failed to make it as I wasn't there for him to bounce off. Imagine my surprise at the end when he was one of the very small number with a blue S and had incurred zero penalties too.

I apologize... Not my most constructive post ever.

Ran 17 races on Bathurst (I know it’s an excessive number of races) and even on a track like this, I only had a few incidents. Mostly B/S backmarkers trying to crash me when I lapped them. Made a few friends already and got some hate mail because I used a strategy to avoid having to pit.

I guess I should stay away from GTPlanet when I’m frustrated. Sorry again for my unsubstantiated claim.

That's Ok. :) Bathurst at night is probably mayhem worldwide, if you're not on pole / top of the grid.

Actually it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Only the backmarkers were really an issue. You flash your lights and remain patient but they still try to wreck you from time to time.

Got so much hate by winning without pitting against faster drivers. Those who tried to copy me failed miserably other than the occasional German Viper driver.

Seems like I won’t easily get to S/S in Europe.

Sorry for the language but couldn’t help it...

They definitely dont see you or they think you are still behind them, these people dont use the "radar", and probably dont have any keys assigned to look left and right... I dont blame these people too much, but in these situations im usually with my front wheels behind their front wheels, so i just ease out the gas and just let them drive... sometimes i am clearly in front of them and i counter their "nudge" to let them know im not goin in the grass.

I wish there were more tutorials that taught players how to really behave in the game. You watch two videos that explain that good behaviour is important but they don't actually create any real situations where the player can practice it.

And these videos look like they’re for toddlers with 5th grade language. No offence to Tom haha.

There was supposed to be a section with missions but it never happened.

I agree with the OP - there are bad drivers out there, however, if you think about your races, the nasty drivers are in the minority. Most people racing are clean - at least by the time they get to AS or SS level. So IMO, there are a couple of options:

Join a Racing League
If you really want to race with people who are out to improve their race skill, try to find a race league. On GT6 I serendipitously found a Tues/Sat league called Car Of The Week (COTW) with great drivers, all looking to improve their driving skill. We'd pick a car to race that week and everyone would drive that car with the only modification allowed: an oil change ...and paint. The field equalized through the 2hrs of racing since the winner of a race was required to take on the next lower tire compound - and winners learned to run with the downgraded tires as a badge of honor :)

On GT Sport, I joined SNAIL Spec Racing - they have 4 divisions depending on your level of skill, and well outlined rules on what is and is not allowed, with moderators running each race (they race as well). I've only done one race night with SNAIL and so far it is great, epic, gloriously clean racing! Sure there are incidents, but from what I've seen people take responsibility for their errors and apologize when appropriate.

Race Steward System

I was on iracing for about a year, and the racing enjoyment was dramatically better. In addition iracing has an "incident report" type of mechanism where you can submit vid/pics of an incident and they can take some action. When I heard about FIA sanctioned races on GT-Sport, I really thought things were gonna be different, that people would take these races and treat them as FIA level events. But obviously FIA means nothing to these folks, and IMO frankly GT Sport is ruining the FIA image by allowing reckless racers to take part in those events. The FIA races really should have some reporting mechanism where a "race steward" is able to look at race footage, and take some action - eg. disqualify them from the race, suspend for some number of FIA events, drop in DR, etc. Is this a labor intensive job? yes - initially it would be a lot of work, but over time people would learn that these events are not for them, and the number of incidents should drop over time.

Hey GT Sport - implement a "race steward" system for FIA races!! it is badly needed!
