Can someone explain why some folks just run limited amount of races to win a division? I'm sitting in 12 I think in division 6 trucks fixed and have run probably 60 some races this season but most around me have run alot less?

I know some folks run only handful because of time but I race as many races as I can to get better and just race.

They average points per week.

Your best score out of 4 races is the one that counts. If you go over those 4 races it'll kill your score as it starts averaging it, it used to be 2 races before this season so that's why some people might still be used to doing just 1 or 2 races per week.
Also many of the classes have an SOF race where the big boys come out to play, you might wanna check that out too!

I understand all that but oval side races aren't hard to find at all which now I'm actually getting close to top split which sucks as my talent isn't up to par for them but just makes me push harder.

I guess when its easy to find races why aren't more running more than bare minimum in most series? I've been known to race 3-4 in a row in same series per night, and it might kill my averages but I've still been moving up.

My new computer will be here soon, but if I can’t race by the end of the season can I still get class c during week 13?
And what is week 13?

Don't be afraid of week 13, it isn't as bad as these guys are making it out to be. As long as you are in the top 2 splits you will be fine. Some of my best races have been in week 13, including 2 wins in the official SRF series in the last week 13. I have gained both SR and IR in the 2 week 13s i have been a part of, hell, my first week in iracing was week 13 and i managed to get promoted to D class. Most people won't qualify, so if you do you will start near the front and should be able to avoid the 1st lap wrecks.

Edit: And congrats Spooble of getting out of rookie! Good luck in D class, you should get some better races.

I know your talking about the fun races where SR isn't affected, but I still wouldn't call it 'Relaxing'.

Well, just turn off your rage mode and you'll be fine. :)

If you get wrecked out of a race in T1, just relax and move on. Nothing is on the line, so you can just relax about everything and have fun.

Too many people take this game so seriously that they forget to have fun with it. (Not saying you, just a generalized observation)

Hey guys, does anyone want to practice for the Roar Before the 2.4 this weekend? I'm willing to pay for the Hosted Session...

Thing is, it's still a Hosted Session, so you'll need to have the Jetta... Since the Jetta is one of the three cars.

Otherwise, I'd be willing to also test for the actual 2.4, with only McLaren and DP.

Also, I'm really happy to see that KIA. And, it looks like it might be done before the Honda? I like FF cars, I need both...

I think what Wilbur and superbike are talking about is related. Different people play the "game" differently. Some are all about the championship. They practice practice practice to get fast, but know they only have 4 shots each week to get in a good split and do well. It's all about the points for them.

I'm more of a "relaxed" user. I'm here for close, clean racing and could really care less what my numbers say. As long as I'm battling it out with somebody, I don't care if I'm racing for 1st or 21st. Don't get me wrong, it's a little more special when you're at the front. But I'd rather go door to door with someone at the back of the pack than coast to an easy win.

Last night's Mustang Challenge race was the most fun I've had in iRacing yet, and I only finished 9th of 16.

I think the Kia is RWD.

It's FWD for sure. I don't think Kia makes a RWD car, though I could be wrong (it happens all the time). :)

I'm psyched about more FWD cars coming into the sim, FWD is where I started racing and is a whole different discipline in itself. In fact, I may end up battling Mr. Mel in the Jetta in the Roar. I just don't know how horrible that car will be at the end of the race with tire wear.

Mr. Mel, let us know when you are going to set up a test session. I'd be down if I'm available.

Even with long distance races, is tire wear an issue at all in iRacing? I've never done an iRacing endurance race.

The skippy at mid ohio will show alot of tire wear by the end of the race. For some reason that track will really wear out the tires on that car. I didn't have to pit becuase of it, but my times were almost 2 seconds slower by the end of one race. Another race i had to pit because of wheel damage with a few laps left, and i had no trouble closing gaps on people with my fresh tires.

Really though that is the only track I have seen that really effects the tires to that point, that fast. In the skippy I can always tell a difference through the wheels FF by the end of the race from my tires being worn, but it's never really been an issue other then a little slower lap times.

And there goes any chance I have of racing any time soon, think I broke my hand.

Oh my, I hope you have fast and good recovery from it. I had this super stiff neck last weekend and couldn't race. When Monday came it felt better, then I started practice for the next one on tuesday and now my neck is locked itself down again. So I would also need a longer break, but I can't seem to stay away long enough to heal properly.. 👎

Anyway, take care of your hand and have a good recovery.

The car is pretty much done, at least it is for Kia's purposes. It now needs to be finalized for us in the service, it won't come out on the new build but I won't be surprised to see it at some point mid season and the best part is that it will very likely be a free car!
For the Roar Practice, I don't think you'll even have to host it! There's servers going up every night and I'm sure there'll be quite a few during the weekend, just pick one and we will follow you in!

It's a FWD car.

My guess is you've probably overheated your tyres rather than worn them out. Colder tyres will always be faster (well in iRacing anyway) which is why you gained coming out of the pits. With the Skip you should be able to run the whole race averaging less than a second off your PB with no issues from your tyres no matter what track it is.

Thanks for the concern, after a bit of thought I realise that I still can play. Drive left handed and use the DFGT Shifter. So it'll take a bit of getting used to and probably mainly oval races but still do able.

Roar... Is at Daytona.

I'll still host a few hosted practice sessions. I'd like to be the one setting it up, just to control who we have flipping Jettas. I'd like to be the one accidentally flipping the Jetta.

Also, everyone thinks the V8 Supercar is hard to drive? I loved it! I still hate the MX-5, but, the V8 Supercar is just awesome. The Jetta, the V8, the Mustang and the Star Mazda seem to fit my driving style (I race go-karts, and autocross FF/4WD in real life. So, I like cars that either naturally have a big slip angle (and drive like go-karts) like the Star Mazda, or cars that push on exit (like a Hyundai Accent/Subaru Impreza.)

The MX-5 seems to skid on transitions, never seems to understeer (like, I like cars to understeer,) and has a twitchy entry/apex. It seriously doesn't mesh with my driving style; I've adjusted to driving different things.

If you like cars that handle like go-karts, how come you don't mention the Spec Racer Ford?
That car loves to be driven loose with lots of throttle and has a nervous rear on the brakes.

I see that you like cars that understeer (whereas the SRF has off-throttle oversteer combined with entry understeer) but it is more like a go-kart than anything else I've driven on this. Especially the way it brakes.

I cant drive the V8 for s***. Defenitly the one I have the most difficultys with.
The Mx-5 is by far the easyest one for me.

Trying to learn how to drive the Lotus now. Such an awesome car! I enjoy every turn I do with it! As long as I dont spin out :P
Gotten down to 1:19:1xx at Zolder now. So im pretty happy with that.

Dude, it's irresistible. I can't tell you how many hours I put into just lapping around it when the Williams came out. It's just sultry.

So fun in the Skippy.

I'm gonna be running in the next race in about an hour and a half.

It seems you and I are polar opposites. I love cars that oversteer, but can't stand cars that under steer. I find oversteery cars like the SRF to suit me best. And I agree, the V8 isn't as hard to drive as everybody makes out, it just takes a little practice and smooth driving. It's pretty much my favourite car so far, but the SRF is up there too.

Also, is there any way to disable the Mclaren's downshift assist? I just can't get used to not being able to engine brake, it's killing the car for me.

To the guys having problems with downshifting on the mclaren. Make sure you have all the clutch/driving aids like auto blip and auto clutch turned OFF. The mclaren is like the F1 and HPD. You run it with no driving aids and you can still up and downshift with out using the clutch. If you have a clutch aid on the mclaren it won't let you downshift properly.

From a couple pages back.

Anyone running their Skippy at Zandvoort tonight?

Just did the 8:45 race and will most likely do the 10:45 race (if my health hangs in there). I feel like I'm coming down with something. :grumpy:

From a couple pages back.

Yeah I saw that, I am running with no clutch assists but it still refuses to let me downshift sometimes. It's really inconsistent about it, sometimes it will and sometimes it won't.
