I too will hold off until the Ford's released, I'm in no hurry. I was hoping the L49 would've been released by the time it comes out, so I could get the but 3 discount, but I haven't heard anything on it

as a roush fan i would hope so! Im in the same ball park you guys are, Im waiting for the ford. I dont normally drive in the sprint series as it is. im normally in nationwide or trucks.

Well after the fun I had at Daytona and am having at Charlotte, I'm definitely going to run in the the new NASCAR series. Class d and above, follows the real sprint cup calendar including road courses, half distance races, 2 race times to give them a special event feeling. Bring on the ford.

I now know what to spend my birthday money on when I get it! Ford and all the tracks I need for that because it does sound like a lot of fun.

I wish I received birthday money. I'm the tooth fairy too.

They should bring the Toyota as well. Any word about it?

I think they are in talks with Toyota to get them on board but so far nothing is in the works. I really want a Toyota in trucks as I get tired of just Chevy to be honest and like the look of the Toyota's alot better.

I have one race with the new Gen6 car at Dega which had a huge wreck that I missed but pushing is still there but it doesn't take alot to get it loose in a corner while pushing which I like.

Same here. The Saturday time slot fits my schedule perfectly even if I have to work. I know alot of people are complaining about the fixed setups, but I like that too. Don't have to bother with tuning which is a definite plus with my limited iRacing time. Just have to decide on the Ford or the Chevy. I personally think the Ford looks better. Still undecided though.

Just had a massive brain fade. Logged on and my credits for the Gen 6 popped up, then I got the Chev straight away. Completely forgot I was waiting for the Ford :( oh well.

Took it in a hosted session at Daytona, definitely feels like it really loosens up in traffic. Guys were running 43s easy too

Nope, and really it isn't needed. A new Truck would be nice though, or maybe concentrate more on the new DW12 or DW13 (IndyCar).

Even though I do very little oval racing I would rather have a Toyota truck or nascar before that butt ugly DW12 indycar.

Well I agree it isn't the best looking machine, but the IndyCar Series really does need a boost and I think the DW12 or 13 would do just that.

So... I finally have my D license for road. Skip Barber or Mustang? Damn this is a hard decision.

Depends if you want to go open wheelers or touring cars/sports cars later on. I went the Mustang and really like it, and then on to the V8. I try to run both usually. The Skippy and SM seem to be really popular though, I just don't like open wheelers

Both! The Skip will help you to adapt to more cars in the service though. I love and have raced them both, a lot. Frankly I'm having more fun in the Skip.

Truly you can't make a bad decision between the two.

I can't drive the skip, it just slides around and breaks away under braking. Any tips? Or am I just rubbish

Yes, both! 👍

I cannot drive the mustang to save my life. LOL

I do love driving the skippy and SM! I never drove open-wheelers until coming to iRacing. I am not fast by any means but the car is not too fast and mostly predictable.

Mildashers, I am not a skippy expert by any means but I was always spinning the car. The driving tip that made the skip much easier to handle was to apply a bit of throttle in the corners. If I understand the experts they said applying a bit of throttle in the corner will provide rear grip and stability.

Ironically I basically went Mustang to Star Mazda with a little GT class here and there, both are fun cars (mustang and SM) in completely different ways, but I do not own the skip simply because I have no need for it atm. It depends on if you like the light agile style of racing, or if you like flogging a big old pig around the track (I don't mean that in a bad way either).

It's a hard car to drive. If you're having problems under braking, consider moving the brake balance forward. As you develop a feel for the car you'll be able to move it back and brake harder, but early on it's faster to make sure you're stable in the braking zone and pick up speed through the corner.

Remember that as a mid-engined car, it's basically the opposite of a FR car with regards to under and oversteer. (In general) in a FR car, you get off the throttle to provoke understeer, and put your foot down to create oversteer. The Skippy is the opposite. Lifting off the throttle will give you oversteer, putting your foot down will create understeer. Although usually it's less understeer and more that it just makes the rear grip and drive you through the corner.

It's very important to try and keep at least a bit of throttle on through the corners, it really helps to stabilise the car. Once you start getting the hang of it, it will do wonders for your throttle control.

In my questionable opinio.

Skippy, hard to learn and hard to drive slow. Gets easier (not easy) as you learn it and pick up the pace.

Mustang. Easy to learn and drive slow. Gets harder when you begin to pick up the pace.

I'll have to get some practise in with the skip then.

Also, thinking of getting a series going here for us, euro racecar style (NASCAR road racing) using either the impala b or late model stock cars. 6 race series. I'll make a tread for interest but drop a post here too if its something that can be of interest to people here.

My last series flopped before it got going thanks to having to move house twice. But with more time and Sundays free will be easier for me to host a series.

Not needed? What's needed anyway?

I'm just saying it would be cool to have all three manufacturers. Makes it more realistic you know.

I guess it would, but then again Holden, Nissan and Mercedes would make V8 Supercars more realistic.

I would however love to have an LMP1 car on the service. And an updated Formula 1 car is also needed so I would pick one of them 2 options before another Nascar.

But I can see where you are coming from by saying it would make it more interesting. 👍

Yeah, an updated F1, IndyCar and a LMP1 should be on the list ahead of another NASCAR,

But who will let iRacing scan a new F1 car where the technology is so secretive that even a 2010 car would give away too much. Considering Codemasters probably use scanners to scan the outside and then mimic the performance and handling.

Hey guys, I have a question. I just got to Class C road and i am going to buy some tracks and a car. I already chose the tracks but I don't know which car should I get. The McLaren or any of the GT cars or the V8 Falcon? Maybe even the Radical. Which one would you recommend?

It really depends what you're looking for. I can only help with cars I own, so here goes.
The Mclaren is easy to drive, and has great participation. It's a really solid choice if you just like to jump in and race with minimal practice. It can be used in both GTC and Grand Am, so that's twice the likelyhood it will be racing on a track you own.
The V8 is super hard to learn, but very fun if you get in the rhythm. There are really only 4-5 official races each week, so if you can't make those it's probably not the best choice. (See the V8SC subforum of the iRacing forums for races likely to go official.)
It also depends on what tracks you chose, look in the schedules and see which series you will be able to run the most rounds of, and factor that into your choice as well.

I would say the McLaren, big participation in that car and 2 series to run in.

Any of the three GT cars are pretty good, and if I were to do it again, I'd choose the Star Mazda over the Radical and not buy the Falcon, it sounds cool but it's extremely hard to learn

The C6R Vette. Hands down the most fun car to learn to drive. Trust in meeee.
