I think it's pretty fair pricing considering the amount of work and cost that goes into scanning new cars and tracks. And again at least every car on the service are the same price no matter if they are new or old, roughly the same idea with the tracks as well.

And what do we get in return? High quality cars and tracks, and because you have to pay, the racing and most of the people seem great and are fair.

Sure it has its bad points, for example it goes down for maintenance quite a few times, and it has some weird glitches, but every game does.

And like Erik said, it's much cheaper than real life.

If you consider it as a game you shouldn't really play it, I spent 686.19 USD on it so far and I do not have it all. Compare it to another game and it looks ridicules. But if I compare it to my last hobby witch was high end car stereo. That amount wasn't enough to buy the cables used in a car. So it's a expensive game, but a pretty cheap hobby.

A friend of mine used the same quote

its a cheap hobby :p

I just think paying 10 quid for a track when you need 10 is a bit steap. I guess I will just buy half now and half in the summer!

Or 1 track a week. When you think of it as £10 per week it's pretty damn cheap.

True, but I meant if you couldn't afford 50-60 one week you could just go 10 per week. That's basically what I do.

I joined in October. Ran the free rookie stuff the first 2 months, then purchased 6 items, once a month for the last 4 months. It doesn't break the bank, and in just a few more months I'll own everything I want. After that, it'll just be the new stuff that comes out here and there and $50 a year for the subscription.

Looks like i am going to give this a shot... however ill need to wake up at 4am to get the engine started OUCH

The good thing is you can pay when you want, I have been on there for roughly a year exactly. I don't own all the tracks trucks run but those weeks usually their are hosted races or other series to run.

Iracing isn't overally expensive if you plan it out compared to other hobbies. The biggest expense is really a computer more than anything as I still run a DFGT which I'd love to upgrade but not sure where to go for money nor do I want to speed $500 for it upgraded wheel.

It all depends on how interested you are, like me I spend alot of nights racing back to back. I think last night I race almost every hour from 7pm til 6 am with few breaks because of being wrecked out or did something else. I don't run for championship really (I keep up with where I am) but i just want to race as much as possible.

It's really only expensive until you buy what you need, after you own the cars and tracks it's only $49 per year. Well at least until the next car and track is ready. :)

So I just bought the Jetta, it's not as bad as people say it is, I like it so far. Maybe it has something to do with me liking less popular and "different" cars.. (The Solstice is my favourite on the service..)

Well I'm sorta glad you didn't, so you didn't see me embarrass myself. Was running 4th and put it in the wall...
V8s are running Phillip Island this week, might give it a go as I'm racing there for real next weekend. Probably wont be much help, the track just got resurfaced :(

Alright, I'm registered. The V8 was annoying me, I really struggle with that thing

I just won my first race in the Jetta, pretty happy to get the first win so early on.. I was planning on running a full season in it next season, I think I'm going to now. :)

My confidence for the March on Michigan tomorrow is really low.

I just did a practice race for it and I wrecked on Lap 5. It seems that restarts and the laps that follow it, the field is really bunched up. If one guy gets loose or oversteers then they can end the race for 10+ guys. If I can somehow survive tomorrow, that will be an accomplishment on its own.

Also, I think I finally got the lag issue resolved. It's much better now. Hopefully it is like this tomorrow.

I'm with you on the race, the set is way too loose honestly. The B class car is perfect in fixed it makes you drive the track not worry about snapping loose if you make a small mistake or someone gets under you.

I probably will practice some in the morning and then nap and back up to qualify and practice. I haven't put in much time to find out when truck settles out from being so loose.

The lag issue was just plan weird lately, I've never had it happen til this week and it happened every race.

So I take it that the Jetta is one of those cars that's fun because of it's abnormalities? 💡

I like that you can hit curbs as much as I please and get no damage, it doesn't handle very well but I like driving it.

Wife kept me busy later than I was hoping. Not going to be able to wake up to do the March on Michigan. Oh well, I'll be in the US for the next one, should be easier to make it not being in this Asia/Australia time zone.

I finally got a complete fuel run today in practice for the March on Michigan race. I got 40 laps in with minimal draft. The tires fall-off in the first 5-10 laps then you run laps around the same speed. It seems that when you are really loose for the first ~18 laps then your car feels great for the rest if the run. My fastest lap during the stint was my first at a 41.598. I averaged a 42.2 during the run. After I pitted, I ran a few laps and it felt like I was on ice because I adapted to the older tires.

I enjoyed that run. Now it is time to come up with a strategy.

EDIT: Good luck to you GTPlanet guys. Hopefully someone on here brings home a win.

Anyone else not able to see any sessions for the NASCAR iRacing Series? Every day I click on the calendar shows nothing.

No races this week so they won't put up any sessions for Martinsville until the next track change.

Finally it is over. It almost took us 3 hours to get the race done.

I decided not to qualify since I did not want to be in the top split, but I was still there since it went by my iRating. I started 34th out of 34 drivers and was trying my hardest not to cause a wreck or wreck my self. The first few laps were hectic. People were brake checking . After two laps I was tired of it. I passed 4 cars in turn 1 and 2, 2 on the backstretch, and 3 in turn 3 and 4. Then we had a few caution periods where we would go a couple of laps then a caution came out. Then we finally had a green flag run with a green flag pitstop (The only of the race) where I was picking off cars one by one. I knew how to adapt as my tires got worn.

I pitted with the leader when I was in second place. I had the first shown pit stall (pit #34) and I picked up spots on pit lane by keeping myself at 55MPH speed limit. By the time we had another caution I went from 18th when the run started to 5th when it was over. After the caution i ran into two problems. My lag came back with vengeance and my incident total started getting higher. I got into a lap car when he was badly damaged and turned down into me. Luckily I did not get damage but I did get a 4x. I also hit the wall a lot and eventually I got a 2x.

The rest would be extra. I almost spun twice and almost wrecked the same guy twice under caution. I finished 5th and my Sr went from 2.96 to 3.92.
