another thing to note is that if you go back down below a whole point you loose the .4 again.

A reply to the other guy who was talking about getting so little SR in a race even after winning. You get no bonus points for going faster or winning. So if you go SUPPER slow and get lapped every other lap and get 0 incidents you get the same SR bonus as if you won first place in the top split. Also don't read much into each races gains losses. You can gain a bunch of SR even if you had a few incidents that race. This is because only so many of the last corners count so if that race made a race you did horrible in drop off the list than you will get a gain because your average incidents per corner would go up.

REALLY? I wasnt aware of that! good to know seriously 👍

Is about the same thing, you will need at least 4 races or 4 time trials in a class D car before advancing to C, so my advice is just do 4 TT's in the Mustang and that should take you up to C!
I missed the promotion to B by something like 5 minutes! Don't let it happen to you!

Eh? So i can level up from rookie by doing Time Trials??? Sweet I'll give that a try

However, SR is rated by your CPI. Corners per incident.

That means if you only do 15 corners and get 1 incident you will get less SR than if you do 70 corners and get 2 or 3 incidents. I guess thats in place to stop people sitting on the side of the track for 20 minutes to boost SR. I think I also read that there is a certain limit where the CPI will stop in a race but I am not too sure about that.

Hey guys, i have a question. I'm using a g25 and use the H patern. I was wondering if some of you actually use the "heel and toe" technique. Is it worth it?

I'm planning on making an investment in iRacing in the very near future. I've already decided what wheel I'm getting (Logitech G27). However, I'm indecisive in choosing a new desktop.

I had a 1 month subscription to iRacing around August/September 2009. Unfortunately, my computer struggled to run it. With minimal graphics, I'd get somewhere around 15 FPS, give or take. A small track like South Boston would take around 3 minutes to load. Head to Charlotte, and double that time....at least. I still have the same computer, with an additional 2 years of age. Needless to say, I have my doubts about it running successfully on this one.

Long story short, I'm looking for a good, solid desktop that can run iRacing to it's absolute full potential. Somewhere between $400-$700 is what I'm looking for. Any recommendations?

Definitely! I use it and it works great for me, if not for it I'd be spining out every corner!

I was on the same boat as you a few months ago, some of the guys here recomended a refurbished PC from Newegg with a video card and power supply upgrade, it ran me about $600 and I have to say I'm loving it! The sim plays fantastic with the graphics settings maxed out.
Here's what I got:

Ok, i'll practice cause it's not so easy... thanks Jav. Last few days i was cheating, I was braking with the left foot and while downshifting i was hitting the gas with the right foot to get the same result. Now i just tired to hear the noise coming out from the drivetrain :yuck: I'll try the real technique.

I actually left foot brake and blip with my right foot. Obviously on rare occasions I have to right foot brake but that's only if I'm caught out. Left foot still manages the clutch (obviously) I just do my shifting when I'm not braking. That being said, it provides for some very fancy footwork at times :P

So you guys heel toe on this game? I generally brake early if there is no cars behind me which lets me shift slowly on the downshifts. Otherwise I get a snappy downshift which can sometimes lead to a spin or a big slide.

I am...well...quite bad at the technique. I can do it but sloppily, I am sure with practice I could fix it up and use it but is it really worth it? I am using a G27 for the record.

Worked on heal toe during my first league on here and gt5. Heck first ever. This was a H pattern shifter league. All involved used bangers. Many learned from my domination of the first season how important heal toe is. Most of them figured it out and improved.

Personally came from years behind a manual. Mustangs, Camaro, Evo. Having done spirited driving I thought I knew how to race a manual. NOT. Hit first turn and was like I need another foot. Truly you have to heel toe if you plan to be fast with a h pattern manual IMO

^^ I've been doing left foot brake and right foot gas. T500rs has no shifter yet as you know

----

So I did a LOT of Lime Rock Time Trials (well only 2) then jumped right into a race. I am hitting 1.04 at my best however others are getting 1.01s. I will just have to keep practicing.

My 1st Time Trial (TT) I only got +3. 2nd attempt I got +7 SR. Then when I did the race I got -1 SR :grumpy:. Some rookie decided to smash me in the rear for no reason and I think I went off track twice

Will probably keep doing TTs a bit more and try to improve. I wonder how much SR a good driver gets from TTs?

You get the same SR from TT's that you do racing, Limerock is a pretty fast track with only 1 real braking spot.

Got no idea, that's not me, just something I found on the rookie forum and posted here for the benefit of the ones that have'nt had the oportunity to look over there.

I only just broke under 1:00 yesterday getting a 59:8__ which I am pleased about considering most people I race still only 1:00:9 and above.
I think I am losing at least half a second every time I approach turn 3 because I have no idea how to enter it at all. That video might help but I am yet to try.

HELP!

I'm setting up my G27 for IRACING and I'm setting up the H shifter, but there is no reverse, and it won't let me skip it?

never mind I figured it out

There is reverse, you push the shifter down while its in neutral and then while pushing it, pull it down into 6th place. If you have done it right you shouldn't be able to put it anywhere but 6th while its pushed down. A good way to check if it is in the right spot is if the shifter boot is touching the knob while in reverse and if you push it out with a finger it should spring out instead of sliding out.

I forgot to mention I watch the iRacing Indy 500 this morning, that was a really cool photo finish with who I think was Tim Doyle and some other guy.

Ok so I've been sticking to time trials cause these races too risky for me atm. I'm up to 2.78 SR now. So when I hit SR Rookie 3.0 can I do the mustang events then or do I have to wait til I hit SR 4.0? I'm looking at these mustang races and I see Class D 3.4 ish racers doing the event. I should be there in another day

Oh btw is there an easy way to farm these time trials? Can I just do my 8 clean laps & withdraw to force it to compute my SR? At the moment after I hit my 8 clean laps I'm not seeing the benefit to keep rolling around the track -edit

You need to be Rookie 4.0 to advance to license D. Once you are in license D you can do the D events. Rookie 3.0 only lets you do the advanced Rookie races.

Thanks, I havent been able to get below 1.04 yet but I'm going to stay at it. I was actually looking for that film thanks 👍

Nope! This is not Gran Turismo man! You need to grind it out and earn it!
The required ammount of laps to complete an official TT apear on the F1 screen.

Yeah I'm a bit confused atm. When I hit my 8 clean laps it seems to want to require me to wait the 30 minutes even though I've filled the requirement. was wondering could I withdraw to force it to close out that session

[edit] Gonna go try it now, just read somewhere else I should be able to build up my SR this way after i get my 8 clean laps.

It doesnt work like that because the SR as I have mentioned somewhere in here is calculated by CPI. I tried the 8 laps and waited half an hour but only got a .03 gain which is because I only did so many corners.

The more corners you do without incident, the bigger the gain, so if you do 30 mins of racing with 3 incidents you will get way more SR gain than 8 mins with 1 incident.

I just took a test drive in the miata.

I'm loving the game so far (I better, I bought a year membership lol), this is going to take some time to get used to. I'm going to be doing a lot of test laps tomm and maybe just maybe do my first race.

Yeah if I quit right after 8 clean laps I end up with +0.03. But right after that I did 16 clean laps then withdrew from the race and got +0.06 I think.

Trying to get my racer to break that 3.0 barrier tonight. I'm at 2.87 now

So I joined Jav's race hoping to race with him and apparently he blew his engine on the pace lap :S. I was stuck in something like 6th or 5th for most of the race made my way up to 4th and finally got the pace for 3rd and that's where the action started! Last couple laps I was storming up to the top runners and caught up which made for some very excellent battles!!! On the last lap the leaders screen went black in the first corner and he bombed it off into the sand he still manged to hold third though. I held the 2nd place off and took the checkered!! :D I'll definitely fraps the good parts and put it on youtube.

That was no fun for me! Was hoping to give you some trouble but blew my engine at 35mph like a dummy!

Got my SR up to 3.8 today and now its back to 3.48 after two bad races, im a bit annoyed .
