Good choice, that is a good promotion. Good luck you are going to need to race very cleanly if you wanna run the COT anytime soon :sly:. Saying that though the daytona 500 world tour event will be a perfect chance and combined with this promotion may get a lot more racers in.

Yeah I've tried the COT at a bunch of tracks and thus far I hate it :p I never realized that Daytona was so incredibly bumpy before, it's like mini ramps!

From,
Chris.

well 2010S1 is here what is everyone planning on running this season? I'm in the Trucks on the ovals and maybe some LM but thats it. On the road side I'm running Skippy and Jettas this year.

Im gonna be running skippy mazda and LM full seasons. I will dable in the radical trucks and nationwide cars. And of course the solstice whenever it is at laguna seca, I some how set a top 70 lap time there so its the only place i win at  Everyone needs a confidence boost sometimes. ;)

Trucks this season unless i can get up to the impala B before week 2. I'm almost there just another race and .50SR to go.

as for the road side im still unsure of what i want to run. I'm thinking of returning to the skippys and run for a Div championship seeing as i did well there 2 seasons ago and placed 3rd in Div 10 in my first season.

are there still tryouts being distributed somewhere? I'm thinking of giving it a try, but i'm not convinced i'd be into it enough. Somehow, i know its irrelevant to the experience, but the graphics put me out a bit, compared to GT5... :(

I might do some Skippy races, but I don't think I'll do a full season. I'm spending a lot of my time karting so I'm finding less time for iRacing... I still want to get into the next Pro Series, so I'll need to do a fair bit of racing, but not as much as I'd like. :/

EDIT: Also here is a vid from some Skippy racing at Laguna a few weeks ago:

I recently signed up for the 1 month Radical SR8 promo offer + free Silverstone track and the rest of the usual noob package for $5
Why Silverstone though? I hate that track .... :(

Love the Radical though, probably my fav of all the iRacing cars - good visibility in cockpit unlike the other ones..

--------

ugh at this rate I'll have a negative rookie rating soon.....after 2 races which I didn't finish :)

so my best lap in the Pontiac Solstice after a few hours is 1:07.801
Now I'm watching some guy in the same qualifying session hit high 1:02, and he is going 10mph higher than me in some turns, and there is no way I can do that without spinning out. Are we driving the same car???

Pontiac Solstice is peice of crap

The Ford Spec racer is a oversteer machine - but once I stiffened up the front and deflated the rear tyres it's better

The Radical is pretty neutral and grippy. A hell of a lot easier to driver than the Solstice!!

The engine sounds are not that great. I keep hitting the limiter, because they don't just scream like they should near the red line

Tyre model seems to be a little less snappy compared to the last time I tried and slightly better throttle responce

-------------

Thoughts so far? I much prefer the GT5 time trial, if PD can improve the force feedback and the tyre model, GT5 is gonna be sweet

Tires and throttle were both redone in the season 1 update, as far as the sounds go I agree they are not what I expected but I read on the forums that is because they are simulating the wounds you would here with a helmet on. :odd:

Daytona 500..... UH..... OH...... Lots of unhappy people over there. Im not upset as i didnt plan to run it. but still Gonna be a bad week on the iRacing forums.

most people got in at the last moment but had to start at the pits but that was the biggest wreck fest in the world. we only went 22 laps in 1 HOUR, so many yellows finally i was happy i wrecked out and decided not to reset.

So I saw there are a few views available for replays, but what driving views are available in iRacing? Visibility in any sim is always so much worse than real life, I really appreciate a driving view with good visibility like we have in Prologue.

as far as i know, the only available view is in-cockpit, although you can move the camera around a bit. Haven't played it tho.

Just signed up for the 1 month 5 dollar promo and wow, the physics are incredible :)

Had an easier time setting up and calibrating the G25. The FFB is just spot on and very smooth. Combine it with the buttkicker gamer and its a real unique experience :D Anyway, ill give it more time and see if its really worth the 12-14 dollar to buy new cars/tracks. So far so good.

I had 1 practice session so far in Lime Rock full course with the Solctice. Had a best time of 1.04.509 ...need more practice :D

Top guy i think hit 1'03.4xx

Any rookies in here?

Hi Pal!

Welcome to iRacings incredible racing-environment... I'm sure you wont be dissapointed if online-racing and deeper meaning of it is what youre lookin for.

I'm 100% online-racer... nothing else in the end dont interest me. That's why I know I will be there till end or when something even better comes out. Dont afraid to ask what ever iRacing related... it can be littlebit complicated structure at first, stats,series,licenses,iRating,Safety-Rating, etc etc but I swear everything will turn out to be spot on after some time.

Take a look at Spec Racer Ford at some point. It's very great car when you catch it's nature! My favorite car for 'fun-factor'-races... also when you learn to use trail-braking with it, you can easily move to higher series.

Good timing to jump in. After few weeks there will be huge update coming, and iRacing again is littlebit closer it's goal. I really like they idea to keep developing always going on, not like all companies before did their titles and only few bug-fixes, and then run away with moneys.

That 3-month cycle to launch new builds sometimes can feel long time, but in the end it's only way to do it cause you cant fuss physics between seasons.

Hope to see you on track!!!

( This is me, just send mail if anything comes to your mind. I can also give some training tips if you want. All other GTP's in the iRacing are free to contact too ofcourse! We could set up some own races someday. http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/CareerStats.do )

I just wasted the last two hours watching videos on YouTube of iRacing, and I REALLY REALLY want it. However, I don't have a PC and cannot afford one at the moment. :(

What did you watch... if it was not Florian Godards, or iReviews YT-channels, I recommend to check them out. Some very classy videos from races there.

And absolutely best place is Pro Simracing TV's archieves/live streams about Pro-series! (www.PSRTV.com) It's insane how thrilling/exciting it can be to watch those races with commentators like in real life. :D

I really hope and believe they can raise Simracing to the new level.

Go Greger Huttu!

They were from some guy that had like 160 videos. Lots of Daytona Prototype action.

Hey, thanks for the welcome. Ive got a full week down and im hooked! Ive been racing in the Solctice
Rookie season and already have a couple wins and a few top 2's. Getting more consistent every race.
Good fun 👍

P.S. The link you gave just go straight to my 'own' stats... is it supposed to be yours?

Hahaa! :D Yes it should go to my stats. I thought that copypasting my stats-page address would throw you to there. Fail I see. My iRacing member number is 27250, so maybe you will find Finnish-dude, first name Kristian with that.

Funny... I'm still so tool with PC's. :)

Glad to hear you like your iRacing experience. I'm quite sad that so many great guys from here did not find how great this new way to build Sim is. I cant understand it, but maybe money has something to do with it. Being working family-man who loves racing, I think it's only good that there is no Destruction Derby-kids in the field at all.

By the way... if you decide to continue longer, I recommend to take 1-year subscription. It's 99$, and if you fill 'participation-plan' requirements, you can have 40$ back in iRacing-credits. After that, one-month costs aint nothing imo.

Hope to see you sometime there!

Just won a race not 15 minutes ago :)

Ok, ill check on it. Can you add friends on iRacing?

Well, ive heard about iRacing for a while and certainly the money aspect turned me off. Now ive tried it out, my opinions has changed. I still think that cars and tracks are overpriced though. They should atleast cut it in half IMO.

Edit: Couldn't find your driver page. What's your full name?

They dropped the prices on everything not to long ago. Used to pay like 20/15 for everything

I see. It's still too much though :( If everything's a little more cheaper, iRacing would probably be even bigger by now... that's just me though.

Yep... monthly pay is ok now, but content-prizes should be something like 2-5$.

That prizing-issue is one of the most talked debate in forums. Most of members are thinking that too, and last time when iRacing lowered their prizes with quite big hand, one of their explanations was that 'they have reached so big memberbase that it's possible to lower prizes' ...so there is chances that if iRacing grows nicely, same can happen again and again. :)
