Nice, Spa is a great track. One of my favorites for sure. 👍

So, I got the three months for the price of one offer. Just started playing last night. I only have the basic pack of cars and tracks so I headed straight to Laguna Seca since that's the only track I already knew, back from GT3 and GT4. Lots of fun! Didn't try to race yet, just some tests and practice for now.

What are you guys names in the game? Mine is Felipe Andre, feel free to add me on your friendlists so we can play together sometime.

Laser scanned Spa coming to iRacing...that is pure awesomeness :D
The quality of iRacing's tracks is unparalleled at the moment, and I can't even imagine how epic Spa will be when they get done with it. This is great news :)

I bet they will see a noticeable boost in subscribers once they have Spa ready 👍 There are also a lot of people who think Suzuka may be coming soon, along with tracks like Okayama. Just imagine if they ever do the Nordschleife

This is great news. I almost jumped out of my chair when I heard about Spa.

Hey Felipe, my name in iRacing is Carl Posey. Feel free to add me, and I will add you too 👍

I was yesterday racing with Trellet.net guys, who are all Finnish simracers. We have our own Summer-Cup going on... it's like unofficial Finnish 'not so serious' Championship. Very tough group of racers.

I did not manage very well, (too less seat-time... like all others too who did not :D ) but even that, I will share this race-recap. I'm just looking it first time too. I only 'frapped' in-car camera without any bigger editing, so if you can/want, you can imagine easily yourself to being me in that race.

Why I do this there is two reasons... first, I'm learning/practising Sony Vegas editing program... and second, that race end up to be very very great race to watch and see what iRacing and Simracing is all about! So many things what you can afterward watch and try to analyze to being better simracer, and how you should treat all your fellow-racers. Racing with this kind of guys is just awesome and thrilling.

Enjoy...http://vimeo.com/13147437

That's the biggie right there. The Ring, Monza and Monaco. Once they get those, it's a WRAP for SimBin/ISI. They may as well just close shop.
Not really.
Some people - like me - are not interested in online racing, unless it's in a private lobby or LANs. As long as iRacing doesn't give the option of practicing, hotlapping AFTER your subcriptions has ended, people are still going to be interested in other racing sims.
And then there is iOpener, which is more appealing to me than conventional online racing.

Photo courtesy of Dave Moulthrop who is on location laser scanning Spa! It’s probably the most anticipated track by the European community to be announced by iRacing. No news on how long it will take to scan and or finish. I would guess that would will see it sometime early next year, but you never know.. Maybe they’ll “fast track” this one.
Dave Moulthrop is a great guy by the way. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Infinion last year and he really hooked Shaun and I up. We had some pretty good access through iRacing, but he got us full photo access and we got to go anywhere we wanted that weekend. Thanks again Dave ! I bet he’s having a great time in Belgium working on this one for us all to enjoy. It’s probably the most I’ve anticipated a track for iRacing as well.

Nice livemusic! I got my first pole and win in the Solstice and have been on drought since.

I haven't done any qualifying yet. Since I'm pretty new at iRacing I thought it would be better to start more at the back of the grid to avoid any incidents at the start of the race.

Love this game!

I only have an D license at the moment because everytime i try to improve my SR to 4.00 something happens so i have to wait another two hours for the next race etc.
The skippy is loads of fun but abit underpowered for a track like Watkins Glen but still massively fun.

I´m just waiting for the F1 and SPA, and Eau Rouge/Raidillon. Just need to get my A license before it´s released.

I had two good races last night. In the first one I started at 7th place and finished 4th. Third place was a friend of mine, I was really pushing to try and overtake him, even bumped him lightly while we were lapping another driver, it was very exciting. Here's how it ended, my car is #3:

I got +0.60 SR in that race too, no idea why that much though.

At the second race I started in 8th and managed to grab 2nd place. +0.12 SR and a total of 3.61, so now I'm qualified to race the Advanced Rookie's Challenges. If I keep getting good results like these I'll be Class D by the weekend already! 👍

For my next race I think I'll try the qualify first, since I'm more confident in my driving now. At that last race by the time I got second place the first place driver was already nine seconds ahead, and pushing hard so I didn't even try to catch him.

If you go above a whole number, e.g. > 3.0 or >4.0 iRacing gives your Safety Racing a boost of, I think, 0.4. No idea why!

I've just recently got started with iRacing and am really enjoying the great physics, bumpy tracks and the (relatively) gentlemanly racing. I've spent far too much on it already but it's worth it. It even has 2D trees to help us feel at home. :)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that bonus thing. Thanks for reminding me.

And I agree, the "gentlemanly" racing is quite pleasant. People you're lapping or that spin in front of you actually give you way instead of trying to hit you. That's something rare in online racing games when playing with strangers.

It is so that if you have one or two bad races right after going >3.0 your license doesn't fluctuate like mad.

I am gonna do a few races w/ the solstice this week, so maybe I'll run into you guys :)

Here is a video of my first race with my new Club Sport pedals :)

....................

and 1st win of 2010 :p it was in rookie solstice though heh

Oh oh oh :D I worked with this Leica HDS scanner before, scanning a wind turbine. The time for it to scan depends on the set resolution and how dense the setups around the track is planed be. But Leica released a new scanner that is 50000 times faster to scan then this one, about ½ year ago :-).

Cool, I've grabbed a victory at Lime Rock Park last night too. At my first race of the night I screwed up. Started at first place but after a couple of laps I spun the car and crashed. Tried to recover but it only got worse. I've abandoned the race at last place and -0.10 SR to me.

Raced again and starting from second place I managed to hold my position until around mid race the driver in first place went out the track at the first corner. I didn't even notice I had passed him until the spotter announced it to me when I completed that lap.

I was looking into the 3rd season schedule and thinking of what to race. I'll probably leave oval alone and focus in the SRF Challenge. Though I'd need to buy Watkins Glen to participate in all the rounds, and that will depend on if I'll renew my subscription after the three months promotion I got is over. I definitely want to, just not sure I'll be able to afford it.

Let's hope they get the new one.

I've been thinking of going to Spa to see the iRacing guys working on the track. Take photos etc... .

I'll ask another time although I don't usually get a very clear answer. I know nothing about computers, what's the least I'd have to pay for a computer to play iracing at a decent graphics level? And what's the minimum I'd need to pay to play it on the lowest settings?

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/advent-centurion-cbe1401-refurbished-desktop-pc-04735186-pdt.html
Would this be good enough?
That pc will suffice. I was able to test iRaicng once with a weak nVidia 8500GT graphics card, 2 gig of DDR 2 and a 2.8GHz Athlon 64 X2 dual +5400. The pc in the link is more powerful so I guess it's good enough to play iRacing.

That PC can run it just fine with all graphics maxed out and in full HD resolution I'd say.

I run it on a Athlon 64 X2 @2.7GHz, 4GBs of RAM and a GF 8800GT 512MB DDR3 in 1440x900 resolution. I don't have the graphics set on max but mostly on high with AA and AF on and it runs between 45/65 frames per second. I still have to test other settings to get a more constant framerate around 60 fps but I'm too lazy, and I'm ok with how it's performing already. :p

it would probably be better to buy all ofthe parts yourself, but a decent speed dualcore and a 5750 will be enough to run iRacing. I've been

having pretty bad luck today in iRacing. got another win, but before that, a rookie crashed into me, and then during another race, a lose wire slipped into one of my fans and started making a loud noise, then in ANOTHER race, I lost internet connection because I must've loosened the network cable while adjusting the previous wire...

Thanks for your replies, I seriously looking into iracing and if you guys say that PC's good enough I struggling to resist. Is it all relatively straight forward to get involved in iracing? I have a brief knowledge of the ranking/progression system.

And I assume my Fanatec PWTS w/clubsport pedals will be good enough?

Yes, it's very straightforward and easy to get started. It's probably the easiest PC sim there is in terms of getting set up and started, and you have a great wheel and pedal set, so you should be ready to go. They have the buy 1 month get 2 free promo going on still, so that's a really good deal--3 months for $14.
And just to chime in, that PC you are looking at should be able to play the game really well, with most graphics on high (except shadows, but even guys with monster rigs can't run full shadows in big race grids).

Thanks, mate.

Another Question: Which cars car you drive straight away as a rookie and which of those do you need to purchase separately?
