Solstice and Spec Racer Ford are the two road cars that come with iRacing, tracks are Laguna Seca and Lime Rock Park. Oval cars are the Legends and Legends Advanced. Oval tracks included are South Boston and Lanier.
I suppose you could also include the Advanced Solstice but it is not used in anything so....
The advanced cars have adjustable setups- when you hit >3.0 on the oval side you can race the advanced Legends Cup.

Sometime this month (I'd say they are comming in the new build) there will be two Miatas and two new tracks from Asia. I also think there is a new Oval car but atm can't remember for sure. They have released Thompson Speedway already which is an oval track.

Yes, it's very straightforward and easy to get started. It's probably the easiest PC sim there is in terms of getting set up and started, and you have a great wheel and pedal set, so you should be ready to go. They have the buy 1 month get 2 free promo going on still, so that's a really good deal--3 months for $14.
And just to chime in, that PC you are looking at should be able to play the game really well, with most graphics on high (except shadows, but even guys with monster rigs can't run full shadows in big race grids).

How do I get this?

Thanks, mate.

Another Question: Which cars car you drive straight away as a rookie and which of those do you need to purchase separately?

As Frizbe pointed out, you get the Solstice, Advanced Solstice, Spec Racer Ford and the Legends and Advanced Legends for Ovals.
But, in addition to Laguna and Lime Rock, you also get Summit Point raceway as well. It's a great road course with several very fun variations.
You can run the full Solstice and Spec Racer Ford road racing seasons without having to buy any tracks 👍

How do I get this?

I just looked again at the membership signup page http://www.iracing.com/membership/

And I'm no longer seeing the buy 1 get 2 months free promotion :guilty:
I know it was still going on as of a couple days ago. Maybe it has ended now? Or maybe someone out there knows of some promo codes that can get you a good deal for a new membership, if so, hopefully they will post them here 👍

The three months for the price of one code is PR-2FREE. I posted a bunch of other codes a few pages back.

And there's a Spec Racer Ford track that doesn't come with the basic package: Watkins Glen. But you'll be able to run 10 out of 12 weeks, which is enough.

not that bad this game. :)

:dopey:

I think when I get to better levels I'll buy the main road courses, mainly the European ones. I think I'll leave oval racing till alot further down the line, the tracks and cars cost loads if I was to get all of them.

Sorry to ask another comp question but will this run it? and at what graphics? If this runs it I'll be going to get it tomorrow :)

Rudi, what wheel are you using? make sure that centering spring is off as well as dampening.

Duffers, that graphics card is kinda lame :/ I am not familir with uk prices but you should be able to build a gaming rig that is faster than that if you buy the parts yourself.

Yeah but I know nothing about computers, so that would get me nowhere.

Oh nice... now Rudi is in iRacing... what's next? Zabeu? Timppa?.

I started this iRacing thing cause I wanted to be fastest racer, and now all same guys who whiped my arse in GT5P, are going to do same again in iRacing. Sounds great!

Welcome to iRacing Rudi 👍

Woot, just got into Class D!

Did four races today. First two I won, third one there was a huge pile up at the first lap, including me, so I had to tow my car into the pits and lost some time. Finished in 5th.

Did another race right now, started in first place and spun in the first lap, huge pile up again lol. Got back from the pits in seventh place and managed to get second place.

👍

Is it possible to record the replays. I'd like to see these pile ups. Must be funny.
You can save them as .rpy files and open it up later to record with Fraps or something. I didn't save any of those races' replays though.

How can I tell if a promotion code has worked when I submit it?

I suppose when you pay, register and use the promotional code or any code you'll receive and you can download iRacing you'll automatically see for how long subscription is valid.

If it's a promotional code, let's say pay one month and get a second month for free, you'll be subcribed for 2 months.

an you use multiple offer codes (not at the same time).
So when my $5 month ends, can I use the buy one month get two free code?

I could be wrong, but I think those codes only work for new subscribers, unless they state otherwise.

That's what I was thinking... :/
In a polite way, I hope you are wrong...

I got it to work but I don't think the PR-2FREE one works, I had to use the RACER14 one to get two free months.

EDIT: I'm on the main page but i want to change some graphics and controller settings, where do I go to do that?

You have to be in-sim to do that, just run a test session to play around with settings. Most graphics settings you will have to exit the sim and then restart the sim.

I don't understand what you mean.

EDIT: I've no also been told that 'software' is missing and it's asking me to DL a 216Mb file, is this normal? Anybidy have some info on it?

I don't have iRacing but if it's the same as netKar Pro you have to download the sim, install it and start configuering the controller and other things.

You can change the graphics ingame, just like in any other game that you have on DVD. Instead of installing it from DVD, you have to install the download and start from there.

Hope that makes sense.

One thing that put me off is the cars and tracks micro-transaction. I can live with a monthly payment but $12 for a car/track?

Out of curiosity why don't you have/play it?
I don't have a credit card and I refuse to create a PayPal account (because I don't trust PayPal entirely).

I got netKar Pro thanks to a friend, whom bought the license with his credit card. This was the second time and although he would help me in a heart beat, I'm not going to ask him a third time. I have contacted iRacing a few times to see if I can wire the money but that's not possible.
