Unfortunately at the moment, i don´t think so. But since they now have a collaboration with Mclaren there could very well be either an F1 car like the MP4-26 or even the MP4-12C or MP4-12C GT3 in the near future ;)

Atleast now we know they will be working together and is fully aware of what both of them do, so i think the chance is very high to get a Mclaren in the game.

Personally, as much as i love the cars mentioned there´s only one Mclaren for me, the Mclaren F1 GTR Long tail with the stupendous engine BMW managed to produce. I´ve never heard anything more brutal and vicious in my life :)
And i´ve stood 2m from Alonso´s F1 during start up :P

Kaemmer said firmly that it will be understandable for the noob (you and me) aswell as the person who has ambitions of working in a real team in the future so i think they will dumb some things down for us.
I´ve had the chance to use it in GTR2 but i couldn´t be arsed, but i thought i might give it some more time this time. I´ve got some extra memory in my brain that i think can be used for some telemtry stuff :P

They've definitely done it. Initially the TDI Jetta Cup car was put in iRacing for an awesome competition. But it wasn't just time trials. It was open for anyone to come in and race for championship position,.

Here's the article from the inRacing news site when he got confirmed as a driver for the 2010 season. It was so awesome to see him progress. 'cause he actually won races and was nominated Rookie of the year at the end of the real-life series.

They also featured him in a currently on-going racing documentary called " Rookies to Racers" chronicling his new career. Link to show times and preview clip at the Pole Position Driver site: here

They did it in the U.S before GTA :D but I'd much rather race in ILMC like Ordenez.

That's why we have amazing community members who will all lend a hand in helping you make sense of it all with tutorials, apps, and demo set-ups. All pretty indispensable in the long run,

Does it say somewhere how many parameters will be monitored by the new telemetry?

They've just released a new way of outputting the information. Telelmetry's been around for a while but you could only see it by downloading third-party apps which pulled all of it together. It was a great community effort so now it'll be an official one.

It's pretty much just a long needed increase in the resolution of data that iRacing outputs. They've been holding back on it for a while because of the older cars' reduced output but they've taken care of it with this last season update and more's gonna come tumbling in through the Summer.

I know exactly what you mean ;) I´m in the same boat as you.

To me it´s just graphs and numbers added with video and controller inputs.
But i think we should give it a try even though we won´t be the Technical Director at Ferrari in the near future ;)
Maybe we can even help each other out with some tips or so.

I never make my own setups but i think that it´s time to atleast try and understand how it all works and how it´s affecting the car.
That´s what i loved about GT4, good explanations on EVERYTHING ;)

But i think if we now would get a Mclaren it would be in 2012 when the car is "old" sort of. Or just one of the slowest cars on the grid like the Ford GT GT2 :P

Would to have another F1 car aswell with a working DRS system together with KERS but apart from Mclaren F1 GTR Long tail like i mentioned, video below btw.

You know! I think that most likely tey'll do that car since it will draw so much more people in than the MP40-12C GT3... Still I'd love to see it in the game!

Thanks dude, just gotta do the rear and side backish area. Then some touchups. If you want it I'll post the targa file when it's done. Just pm me the name for the back wing and the color for the mirrors/wing flaps.
 
Woohoo!! Just recieved my pc today!! Can't wait to get home get it all set up and sign up!
Only thing is my video card won't get here till tomorrow...

What kind of times are you guys getting with the FW31 at Okayama? I can only manage 1:10.1 in race trim.

I've done a 1:07.3 in qualifying trim (9kg of fuel). Race Trim that would probably equate to around a 1:10 i'd imagine.

Hmmm I was running 1:09.2 in my quali trim (40 lbs of fuel about 8 laps). I seem to really struggle through T1. I get mad understeer from apex to track out. Everywhere else it oversteers though /:

Edit: I don't really know much about setup with the car though, so many things to play with.

I'm 7th in Div 2 points for the season. I'm thinking I'm going to do a lot of practice before I race here at Okayama. I can't seem to go 10 laps without making a mistake and crashing. It's so hard not getting over zealous and over powering those slow 180 corners.

Jav: yea that´s the one i look forward to the most. Especially the new tire model which is iRacing 2.0 ;)

Suzuka in the F1 will be awsome too but i think the ALMS series will be the one i will take on seriously i think.

Really hope to see BMW Porsche and Ferrari in the game aswell. I absolutely hate torque engines.
 
Ok i did some testing now at Okayama, not driven the F1 much and the first time at the track.
Got some really good help from some guys and a setup that was MUCH better then the high downforce one provided by iracing.
Much better turn-in aswell and gave alot more confidence which is crucial in these types of cars.

Session isn´t over yet but i managed a 1.09.3something i think with an Opt of 1.09.034or5.

Still haven´t found a single braking point so it´s by feel right now lol. Definitely feel low 8´s and maybe even a high 7 is possible with a better setup and just more practice. Some places i gain around 0.40 seconds so there is heaps of time left.

Will for sure do some more practice tomorrow, usually i´m around a second slower then WR if i really get into it. (Riley at Mid Ohio it´s a second exactly (or was until Jaroslav squeezed out some more)
 
I´m also not sure wether to use 1st gear in some corners like the 2 lefthanders and the right hander that comes after one of them..

Would anyone like to start a GTP F1 league where we only run on proper F1 tracks?

Spa Franchorchamps
Suzuka when it arrives
Silverstone

They could be run 2x so you have some experience going into the the second race.
