Jav
I am! The Hankook C6.R is ready!

You painted that Jav? Killer work.

BTW is Seebring going to be at night? I hate driving at night. :nervous:

Does damaging your engine from gearing take off points? And im trying to have clean races just to get out of rookie but my last race i was braking at a corner while there was someone behind me but i had to break to turn and the car hit me. I lost points but wasn't that his fault?? And then my wheels got screwed up and i had to spend 6 minutes in the pits GRR!

The only time you could loose iRating during a race is by quitting early or if you have a green notification at the top of your screen. It most probably was his fault, but iRacing gives the blame to both cars as it'll be quite hard to determine who was in the wrong on certain cases.

I've had a few people who go out with damage just sit and watch the race, I was guessing this was so they don't drop too much iRating.

As for setups, I suggest doing one and keeping it the same, also depends how your driving style is on the Skip. I am a NON-twitch/sliding driver, I like it "stable" so I am currently +0SPO, +6ARB, 20 psi for front wheels, 21 psi for rear wheels. This isn't "my" set up, but Ahmed's on Iracing forums whose a super top driver. The "twitch/sliding" setup I would suggest Ian Bevan, but its not my style, you really got to be precise and no offensive to Ian, his record is super hot or super cold and not consistent enough for my liking.

Good luck, let me know if theres anything you want to know about the Skip

Hi,

I am a non-twitch driver, too. I can only keep my car on the track with a solid, stable setup.

I tried the setup in the Oulton thread by Andreas and it is working for me. I am a slow pilot but I was comfortable enough to get a fastest laptime of mid-1:49. :)

I tried AY's setup for Mosport and it was simply awesome for me. However, I was even slower on Oulton with his Oulton setup compared to the baseline setup. I was running average Oulton laps in the skip at 1:51.000 - 1:52.000 range. I knew I could go a little bit faster, but the setups are making the car 'twitchy' and I push a bit harder.

I will use Andreas' setup as my baseline and try to tweak it to see if I can get a bit more speed (though I doubt it because i am so slow! LOL).

Your iRating changes based on final position, not whether you disconnected. If you take last place (nobody disconnected or anything) you get the same iRating change as if you joined the race and never even started.

...green notification?

Corrected it to avoid confusion :) You will lose iRating if you place in the second half of the field and gain iRating if you finish well.

No...you don't lose SR by quitting early. You lose SR by accumulating incidents. That is it.

I tend to think that if I only run 1 lap and have 4x incident, I'll lose more SR than if i run 20 laps and have 4x incident, going by this, quitting early does make you lose SR. However I'm new to iRacing too so I could be wrong...

Well yes, because SR is calculated by Corners Per Incident. Drive through fewer corners with the same number of incidents and your ratio is poorer.

Sorry for the mis-type, I meant to say Safety Rating.

As for the green notification, I meant the little message which you get at the top of your screen when you have a incident, I couldn't think of any other way to describe it.

I must've had a 'senior moment' (at the grand old age of 26!) and became confused over the two. I did however think that quitting early affected some rating, as isn't this a method used by 'sand baggers'? Join a race, quit early and eventually run in a lower division?

Quitting early is just the same as finishing last (or next to last, if you aren't the first quitter). You'll lose the same iRating as if you placed in that position while finishing the race. Won't hurt the SR though if you don't have incidents.

I see. I'm clearer now. Again, sorry for confusion before - just got the two jumbled up in my head!

Swift of petro, can one of you please post a link to the iRacing thread containing Ahmed's setups for the Skippy?

Don't need to link, here it is :)
0 SPO, +6 ARB, 20 psi for front, 21 psi for rear tires. 58 BB.

Yea, funny you point that out because I noticed too. AY's setup is slow on Oulton. I had a chat with him (how awesome is the Skip community?) and he told me to increase my ARB by another notch. This means +7. I might give that a go otherwise I will try Andreas one. Thanks for the tip!

Can someone tell me what the "F" icon on the What's Hot, Race Planner, etc of the Dashboard screen means. Its a large black icon that is displayed for some of the races, but not all. I've been racking my brain trying to figure it out, and read through the user guide and still can't find the meaning.

Wish I knew about the safety points thing before i started iracing :( because i just got +.57 points! :) But now im at 2.54 :( How long until D-CLASS?

Joined i racing yesterday and ran my first race today. Ran talladaga 70 laps with 35 trucks and ended up 7th. I pretty much hung out at the back and avoided all the crashes. Cautions were a little tough to get used too but I was in a gt5 league and we ran cautions so that was a big help. I had one incident were someone decided to just stop right in front of me during the caution lap. I nailed him and spun him out but I got a green 0 for contact.

How soon does it take for your licence to update?

Those are fixed setup races.

Hmm...... the truck race i jumped into was just a random race i was eligible for,
yet i dont see it on my licence. Are there "expedition races" that don't count toward your licence or safety rating?

A truck race that you jumped into? As a rookie?

I'm confused how that would have happened.

Did you accidentally join a league race or something? What's your real name on iRacing?

Well, if you can get over 3.0 and hold it until next season starts in April, you'll become a D-class. But if you can get over 4.0 safety rating, you'll get D-class automatically. Remember, when you go above/below a whole number, you automatically lose an extra ~0.50. That's why you went from 1.97 to 2.54. When you get to 3.0 you'll end up around 3.4-3.5 automatically as well. Same with 4.0, but when you move up a license level you lose almost a full point if you fast track (4.0+)

Maybe a hosted race? Only thing I can think of besides a league. Would make sense cause I don't believe SR and iRating are affected in hosted races.

Yeah it was a hosted race. I drove like grandma for 70 laps thinking it would help my safety rating only to find out it didnt count.:yuck:

I decided to spectate a practice today, and the test button always gets me, I'm not in front of my computer now (due to some sort of unknown issues) but If I hit test, I think it spawns me as a ghost car right? Can they see me but drive through me? Or I can't see anyone and they can't see me either?

Also, when in a server under the options menu, one of the memory slider bars (either the main options menu or graphics menu -- I forgot -- specifically the upper slider of the two is all the way right, is that good or bad (I wish I could explain better).

Maybe we should open a new thread purely on Q&A with the first post with a list faqs and guides thats already made?
