Now (next season) would be a great time to start racing the Ford GT or the Vette. With the new series being implemented where the Ford GT and Corvette racing in their own multi-class series the racing *should* be great and field sizes for both cars should be significantly larger. The HPD's scare away quite a few GT drivers due to there being so many of them and some of them not understanding how to pass correctly.

is there any word on how the CTS-V will be raced? I was doing some research into the car trying to find lap times to see how it stacked up to the Grand-Am GT cars. Found out the Mustang we have is very similar to one that was raced in '10 in the GTS class where the CTS is GT. So I'm thinking the CTS might be a good replacement for the 'Stange in our Grand-Am, but also having a CTS-FR500-MX5 series that would come close to the actual World Challenge series.

Any who the point to my post is this: anyone know what the lap times are for the WC cars? I can't find anything on past seasons to compare with the easy to find GA GT times.

For the first year, the Cadillac will race in it's own series. It will not be in any multi-class series due to the agreement between iRacing and Cadillac for one year.

I got close, SR of 3.8, not much more to go, maybe one race and a time trial will get me to 4.0. I beat my goal tonight, to do a lap faster than 1:03 at Okayama short in the MX-5, I did it once, 1:02.851:).
I had a guy try to push turn 1 (Okayama MX-5) deeper than me today, and I had already gone in pretty deep, and he locked up the brakes hit me, and spun around my bumper, part of me wanted to laugh at him and part of me just was mad that I got 2 car contacts for that, and part of me wondered if that could've been my fault (I highly doubt it though from the way I saw it).

Edit: what happened to our car reviews thread?

OH SHEET!

3rd win at Suzuka this week. Fitting note as I might be hanging up the drivers helmet after this race as I am not super fond of the car. But what a way to finish it...uploading video right now, it was the BEST race I have ever had. Even took a shower after. +300 irating for this week, good note to finish the season off as its time to concentrate on getting that B Class.

first few laps 6 cars were about less than a second apart....and it was close until the very end. You probably could even watch it 3 or 4 times from different drivers because it was that much going on. Even first turn had a cris-cros over take!

I'll share link as soon as possible!

edit// here it is!

Quick noob question?! I fast tracked to c class a few weeks ago and since then I have completed many races, but it still says I have to complete 3 races to be eligible for promotion! Any ideas why the number of races I have to do isn't going down??

The races you've completed. Were they C-class races?

They have to be in the class C sessions. Skippy is class D so they don't count towards your MPR.

So you have to buy a class car to be eligible to move up to B class?

Yes whatever license your trying to move up from you need that car. For example if your class B and trying to go to A you would need to have a B car and do 4 B class races or time trials and get your SR to 4.0 to move to A. You can get by in D class since you can use the miata in mixed class D races to move up to C.

I'd say move up to C and wait for the Caddy, I have a strong feeling it will be a C license car, that way you won't have to invest on a car to move up to B license.

I really do think the Cadillac is going to be a rookie car for the first year. Unless they decide to run it in a "FUN" series that everyone can, and then a championship series for higher license levels.

Personally? Yeah, I think they'll do just fine. This is a game, and I don't find the high powered cars to be any more difficult to handle than the MX5 or Solstice. Think about the Riley DP, it's infinitely easier to drive than the MX5. Sure, the extra speed means you must alter braking points and things move quicker, but I think rookies can handle this. Most of the problems in the rookie series have to do with racecraft, not with losing control of the car.

So, it all depends on how the power is delivered in the car, could be just fine for rookies, or might not at all.

I would prefer not to have it be a rookie series, but they have said this deal with Cadillac specifically states that the car must be available to ALL users. So there are only two possibilities: 1) Rookie class 2) "Fun" series.

The Riley have something a GT car has very little of, downforce. Granted the downforce the Riley produces will never be at the levels of the HPD, but it still is more than a GT car does.
The Caddy will be more along the lines of the Corvette, maybe the Ford GT wich are by no means easy cars to drive(at least drive fast). I think it might happen the way you picture, fun series for the Caddy with a more advanced license series. Hopefully we will get it for week 13 and we can all fool arround in the car with no concequences!

I'm getting a lot more consistent with the skippy, I managed to do 6 laps at
lime rock without spinning! I was slow though, I was getting 1:01's and 1:02's :(

try to play around with your settings, that does a big deal.

I went from a very stiff and safe skippy driver now to d a very twitchy and faster driver.

No one liked my Suzuka Skip replay? :(

Yea that's what I'm doing, or at least trying to do. Anyone know a good tuning guide?

Do you expect Rookies to be able to drive a 500hp GT car correctly?

iRacing's news posting long ago confirmed that the Cadi would be available to every iRacing member. This requirement is part of their contract with Cadillac. The only way to satisfy this requirement is to have the Cadi a rookie car or in a FUN series, isn't it?

The Skip Barber forum board on iRacing. Each week there is a new thread for the new track. Setups are usually shared by the fast guys in these threads. Check the first few for this season and you'll find plenty.

I use Amjed Yamin's setup. It's very stable and he uses it (or a slightly tweaked version) for every track. I use have used it almost all season and it's very good for me.

There is a bunch of boneheads on the track tonight 👎. people who are 1 lap down trying to race me and still clearly slower so they go real deep in the corner entry and people cutting across grass and spinning me, people rear ending me on straights from a draft etc.:banghead:

^ yeap to what Nastra said.

I started off with Amjed's setup but later I moved away because it was too stiff for my liking. I am currently using Christian's setup (Skip barber Premier series no.1/Skip barber champ) - his setup is very very loose and tricky but its great for tracks with a bunch of corners like Suzuka or Laguna. I modified it a bit because it was a bit too twitch for me to handle.

just watched some inracing multicar races, so dirty..haha..racers ramming each other, what a joke!

inracingnews is normally shocking.... Every time I do them it's avoid all the carnage and you win.

Anyone keen for a hosted session? If so what car/track combo?

Star Mazda / Zandavoot (this week's upcoming course)

But I'm down for whatever I think

* Btw grats Swifty on your Suzuka wins!

Hosted going up now for Star Mazda/Zandvoort.

One thing though, it's an aussie server. :) It's called GTPlanet.net too by the way.
