GTP_FastM3
I've been following this thread for a few months and posting occasionally. It normally isn't like this. It seems to have gotten off the rails a bit lately. I'd recommend sticking around a little while. It's bound to get better

Im def Gunna stick around! Let's make gtp a happy place! Lol

Guys, I'm gonna buy 2 tracks for iRacing soon. One of them will be Watkins Glen for the GTP CTS-VR cup; and the other one I'm still deciding between Oulton Park, Suzuka, Road Atlanta, Mosport, Mid-Ohio and Zandvoort. Which of these ones you think is the best?

Mid Ohio
Road Atlanta
Suzuka
Oulton Park
Mosport
Zandvoort

They all good tracks tho. I'm just thinking bout popularity.

Are you saying that that's the order of popularity of those tracks in that order? I'm lookin to buy 8 tracks this week for mustang cup and CTSVR

Also I'm curious what the most popular oval is, Bristol? Daytona? Another?

Def buy daytona if you plan to get the NASCAR for fun series. But even more for the road course. It's used in most series. Tbh oval circulates a lot of tracks. This season no Bristol. Next season I bet it will be there. I noticed this when I went to buy oval tracks only to find out they seem to rotate.

Bottom line is IMHO, in race, just race, accidents happen. On the forum it is up to you how well you communicate with others. I find that the more pissed you get in a race the more you're likely to act an ass or rage quit. In a forum you can speak your peace of mind and hopefully get your point across. Just me and my point.

I'd recommend picking up a third track (or a car) so you at least get the 10% discount on that purchase.

Finally got a good race with the Caddy. Winner made a couple aggressive passes to retake his lead...Lap 14, turn three he dove inside of me and then used the whole track width on exit, letting me take the grass, then in turn 5 he tried to go inside of the leader and hit his rear bumper. Zero patience or racecraft.

Good stuff Eric! I hate to race with people like that, very very high iratings but yet 0 racecraft. Unfourtunately there's a lot of those on the higher splits and ussually at the start of the season they'll come out and try to win a championship on the first week by driving like that! My SR and iR took a huge beating at the start of S1 thank's to guys like that...

That was just my best guess though. Oval wise not sure. Bristol is on the schedule for SK Mods and Late Models so not sure what pingwhen is referring to.

If I had to choose on Road side I'd go Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, Road America and the rest it's really just a toss. maybe I'm just biased towards those tracks though :dopey:

* That was my first 3 road tracks I bought and it was the best choices I could have made.

Nice finish! you are doing really well for a Class C driver! Props

Wisdom! It is much better just turn the money into iRacing dollars and then wait til you can buy in groups of 3 or 6.

I got a jigsaw, and I'm thinking about enclosing the sides and maybe the front. What wood do you use? Plywood or...?

I'm buying tracks now, I have the entire Mustang series and Cadillac series covered plus daytona, I can fit in a car or a cheap oval but I can't make up my mind, I'm looking at the GT or Riley or late model but all 3 have about 5 or 6 tracks I don't have in this season or should I save my $10

Awesome! Hard to choose all 3 have their pluses surely. I dont have the Ford GT cause I'm burned out on multiclass racing for now

You might want to decide by how much time you can dedicate to whichever car you want to drive. If you get the GT, are you going to drive it this season? What if you don't plan to, but you happen to love it, so now you need to buy tracks for it's season.

;)

And I just pulled off 4th place, with a higher SOF, so more points.

That's my fourth race, so the first two bad ones don't even matter right now. Even number of races means that the next one can't hurt me any because it rounds down. So I'll try for another good one tomorrow. If I do poorly, my week is finished.

I guess I'll get the GT, it'll save $2 and leave my account with 22 cents

972.3 MB download:drool:

Also another question: week 8 is legends @ lime rock, do I need to get my oval rating up to participate or since I'm now class C road, I can run it and week 8 only?

What's up with the Indycar schedules? Both oval and road only have six tracks, but two weeks each?

Had my first official Indy race yesterday at Watkins for the fixed series, it was fun. Now I've got to train for the regular series. Anyone has a good setup?

Think I'm going to try something this season, not sure if I'll have time to do it but.......

One official race for every car in the game, road and oval.

So far I've got Caddy and Late Model down, the only one's I'm worried about getting are F1 and V8 Supercars just because I hear they rarely go official.

@livemusic, and you had a very good finish too. Good thing you bought that Dallara eh 👍

I'm looking forward to the Indy Oval fixed race @ Homestead next week :dopey:

I was messing with the graphics settings yesterday to try and see what each of the settings do. Was messing with different screen resolutions and noticed when you change it, it also changes the recomended field of view. Was wondering if anyone knows why it changes the correct fov? I would think it would stay the same. Just kinda curious is all. The lower the setting the father back it suggest as correct fov.

Just drove the Mustang for the first time in a while. So much fun at Laguna Seca. Its half race, half Formula D. Actually took the last right turn at full opposite lock behind a guy and didn't lose pace at all.

I really like that Stang at the Mazda course. Did pretty good in my first race there for a while. Then some knucklehead lapped car tore into me and well, you know the rest of the story. It was my fault too. Should have just let him by and been done with it. Still learning here but with a price.

The 'Stang is just awful if you can't make it steer with the throttle on certain turns. Just a tiny powerslide and it gains so much time.

I concur. It is such fun to drive for a fairly new driver.👍

This and the Solstice are the only two cars I've had a chance to drive on the Old Tire Model. And sometimes I think they feel the most like real cars. But then I've never driven anything on R-comps or slicks in real life, so really they feel the most like cars on street tires...

There is no correct or right one. Have a look in the iRacing forums and there is a helpful guide on what is FoV and what is best for you etc.

Everyone will have a different opinion so best to move your FoV around where you get the best feel vs things you need to see like rear view mirrors etc. It will also depend on your screen size and distance to the monitor. iRacing has an inbuilt calculator where you put in all that info.

FYI - I am at 68 and I drive the Skip. I use 68 because it allows me to see when I lock up my wheels etc. and also the side mirrors.
