the track is art and it deserves a place.

I forgot to add that they also have those new graphics abilities, I wouldn't mind if they did the ring in the old graphics and updated a season later

So ive been stoked to try indy ovals but then I join a practice session and notice im dead last. I panicked and thought myself a failure. Then I tried again and this time I notice everyone is in one big pack drafting each other like no tommorow! I joined in the fun and experienced a huge blast!

Cant wait to do some races...

Sounds like fun! I still can't bring myself to get the C Oval license...

Yeah that was great fun. Just finished my 1st Indy Oval-Fixed race. Took 6th place somehow... Early in the race I lightly touched the wall. This slowed me down a little bit. I was kind of bummed thinking it was all over but then a wondrous thing happens. Theres a big wreck and the caution flag comes out. I go pit to fix the damage and come back out. I think bout half the field wrecked out by the time the race ended.

I want to do some more races :dopey:

So glad I took the time to earn this Oval C license. I kept putting it off forever.

I too ventured into the fixed Indy oval's last night. These things are great. Had 2 races, one was a top 5 finish and the other was a disaster. Touched the car in front which catapulted me into the wall and gave me too much damage to continue. All this was with 7 laps too go! Managed to stay 10th though.

Going todo a few more races this week, I know it could hinder my points but I need to practise my restarts after the cautions.

Also I'd like to find out the best time for Europeans to get the highest SOF possible.

I think $75-$100 would be good for the Nordscheife. I was rethinking it and a $150 is a bit much. But if it came down to it and it was $150, I'd pay it.:)

A poll in the iRacing forum is a good idea. I don't realistically see the Nordscheife coming to iRacing, but I also never seen a RUF coming so.......

Problem with this pricing point is that perhaps not everyone will be willing to pay this and you end up with 2 cars on a track instead of a 50 multiclass car race on the famous circuit.

Also, I think it sets a dangerous problem if your going to price tracks based on length. Although I agree with you that it should demand a premium, but if we're going down this track then I think it would be prudent to reset all tracks on a price per length basis because some tracks aren't worth the price tag they command. This will cause all sorts of issues I imagine. There was a big backlash against the other big online racing simulator when they started releasing cars on different prices based on the cars real price (% proportion) and this caused much anger. i think it will be the same with "some" iracing people (not saying me).

So what do I think will happen? I just don't see Nordscheife happening, despite my big hopes.

Just my 2 cents.

I think the nurburgring package should be 49.95$, the track is art and it deserves a place.

i think that would be a fairly fair price! But then again, Spa which is just shy of being the length of 2 average race tracks just costs 14.95$.

So your 49.95$ would be a good price!

I dont see how customers will not purchase the Ring. I mean what more do you want, or what more can you get then a laser scanned Nordschleife?

I'm sure car manufactures would take advantage of that too, or maybe the already have a laser scanned version...?

Does anyone know if they have to close the track when they scan? All I know is last time I went to the ring it was about 20 euros and I think they have plans to move it closer to 30 euros! My point is to close a track like that costs mega bucks! That's if they have to close the track!

I cant believe what Im reading $100 you would pay. For one track, come on thats the price of two complete games. I know you all want the ring, but lets be realistic about it. Even $50 is to much for 1 track. I think most iracers would agree. If they did release it at that price it will sell very small numbers. Now if we could talk realistic numbers it would sell great at $25 or $30.

As much as I love the Nurburgring, you have to think about what you'll miss by spending $50-100 on it. That's somewhere between 3 and 9 normal pieces of content. If you're not maxed out on content, you'd get lot more value and enjoyment out of a couple new cars and a handful of new "normal" tracks than you would from a single track, no matter how great.

Milage may vary depending on the person, but I suspect if a track was priced at $50+ it would sell very poorly. As opposed to something like Motegi where you get multiple road and oval layouts for the one price.

Hey so as far as I know we got bout 2-3 Indy Oval fans. I'll make sure you guys on my friends list. I know I got superbike on it. Would be cool to practice or at least holla at you guys in a session.

I did another Indy Oval-Fixed last night. Qualified to 11th out of 17 cars. I see I am still kind of slow but due to a big wreck I somehow get put up there at 2nd place. Would've had a chance to maybe take the win or finish awesomely if I was a bit faster. but since I'm still slower then the others I was lucky to just finish 8th. Need to work on my Oval skills some more. you would think it would be a breeze. Just turn Left and follow the magic green driving line. But even though I am doing that with the gas floored (no brakes) these dudes are pulling away a little. So just gotta work on that. But this can be expected I was racing against many respected Indy Oval vets last night.

edit: Thank God for iSpeed Lap Analyzer! I had no idea people were changing gears. I never changed a single gear all my races so far :dunce:

-----

No way I'd pay over normal price for those Nord tracks though. I can't imagine trying to fly down Green Hell with iRacing's physics. Let a tire touch that grass and your're history. I already had enough trouble with Green Hell in GT5. Now I'd do that GP course (Nürburgring) but once again I would not pay over normal price for it. I'd much rather get more tracks like Watkins Glen into the sim. Not every track needs to be highly technical and tricky like Spa. Of course, like I just said I never did master that long course (nordschleife) inspite of seeing in every racing sim/arcade I ever played (GTR evo, rFactor, gt5, forza, etc)

I'll add you to my list next time I'm on, (that's if you're not already there, hard to tell with different names) will be good to hook up with a few GTP'ers and practice the Indy ovals.

Definitely will be aiming for the B license and running in the proper Indy series. These things are easy, yet complicated. Especially if you get hooked in the draft. Concentration is key when travelling a 200mph in open wheeled cars.

I just sent you a friend request (coming from Richard) a little earlier! I might race tonight after I practice in an attempt to improve my qualifying time. The goal is to get into 25.6s. Atm my Qualify time is 25.8 :ouch:

I know to a road-only driver that sounds close but really that's too big a gap for Oval racing at these speeds to keep up with the pack.

Added. 👍

I think I've qualified on a 25.7 - If you find the secret to getting a 25.6 then please share!

I sure will! Looking at the Lap data it appears it's just simply downshifting. For instance I;m riding around in 6th gear the whole time but 'my next target' time guy is riding around in 4th.

No one ever seems to share Oval lap replays like they do on road side. I would've caught this much earlier. Usually my gears are right on the money on road courses so I've gotten out of the habit of checking them on Ovals

Funny enough, I was going to post about the Nordschleife price, thinking that 50$+ would be a fair price, considering the track is 5-6-7 times a regular track. Including the GP circuit even 8 times the length of an average track.

Even spending 100$ would seem much, but the awesomeness of all the bumps and jumps and the carussell ... epicness would be undiscribable!

Perhaps if a poll at iRacing forums would be started, how much customers would pay for the ring, who knows, maybe iRacing would then consider doing the job...

There are so many Ring versions out there, GT5 being a really great one! but laser scanned Nordschleife... do I need to say more?!

Chris

Yeah but - of course everyone here and most of the hardcore players/drivers will pay almost anything. Problem is, iRacing has to remain somewhat profitable so they need to offer the tracks at a price that most people are happy to pay - not one that is necessarily fair.
Not to mention I think most people would prefer the track was priced lower and more people played it rather than priced too high and only a select few play it online.

I'm pretty sure pricing any single object in any racing game at $100 isn't going to be very popular. Not many people, even hardcore motorsport fans can justify that amount of money for one track in a simulator/game.

Anyway, good to see a BTCC car finally being put in a game/simulator! Just one more reason for me getting closer and closer to finally trying iRacing!

I received 106$ for my sold HD PVR, I want to buy some iracing tracks/cars.

I'm a class c driver, WHAT SERIES SHOULD I BUY!
I was thinking:
Ford mustang/ Riley DP series
Ford mustang series
Skip barber series
GT series (hpd and c6r)

Help me choose!

Actually iRacing does not need to be profitable although they do practice good business practices. I think iRacing cares more about their principals then anything. With John Henry's financial backing and his love of motorsport iRacing will never run into money troubles.

Tracks like Nürburgring probably wouldn't do so well for a lot of iRacers. It would have to be laser scanned to meet iRacings status quo and how well would it fit into anyone series ATM? I would like to see it in iRacing at $11.95 or $14.95 the same rate as any other track. Lets see how things pan out in the next 3 or 4 years with all the new cars coming in. Who knows, anything is possible!

I own every car, the Riley is my favorite, then the Ford Falcon, Corvette C6.R and the Ford GT. The Skip barber is a fun car that takes great skill to race well with it. You really can't go wrong with any series because the next season try something else.

I race in the skip barber and think its amazing! Feels fast wen your racing with people on track! Even though it's slow. Once you get the basics of the car down you will live it! I say go for that! Lol

I just spent $99.88 on 8 or 9 tracks (CTSVR tracks and all mustang challenge tracks,( having already owned the glen and spa), plus I bought the GT. That was with $17.6x already on account and 20% discount

I like the mustang a lot, it's fun to drive with a little powerslide to help in the turns. The ford GT is fun to drive too, but I don't own the c6r of HPD

Regarding the Nürburgring, fast tows would be 15-20 mins long and a race 1-3 laps long to fit in a 45 min block. That could be incredibly frustrating. And again I'll say they can split up the track for pricing issues, like placing Nordschliefe for $14.95 and the GP circuits for $14.95 coming out to $30 which doesn't sound like too much or underpriced

Nice! Hope you enjoy all of your tracks & cars immensely :dopey:

At the beginning of this season all I bought was some Ovals, etc and the Lotus 79. No plans to race the Lotus in an official race. It's just something I like to cruise around in for a little fun.

I meant beginning of the season too, but thanks
Ya, I'd buy the lotus but I heard there aren't very many races with it
