Two question:

Does anyone here have the Impala 2009 car (The old Nationwide car, not the new COT) and does anyone have an AIM account?

I'm going to post a video in a few mins and I'm not sure what to do, I've never reported any incidents before and I didn't look into the replay to see if it was retaliation. tell me if I should report it or if I Should let it be.

edit:

this kind of upset me but not really my "issue" for lack of a better word, to enter, what should I do?

I have the nationwide cars. You get both the old one and the new cot when you buy the nationwide car. I've only driven the old one a couple times. Just once since the NTM and it's much better just haven't had the time to race it or drive it much. I ran the new cot car in the last oval league I was in for 10 out of a 12 week season so I have a little time in that one.

I love the added skill necessary for standing starts in some series, especially the faster cars where you can easily gain a position or two before T1...But I wish we could protest drivers who start so poorly that the field has to try make an emergency lane change maneuver. Has happened in my two most recent Cadillac races. Really sucks when the car in question is 2 rows ahead of you on the grid, so the car between you is able to react in time to just go around, but you're going 70mph towards a 25mph car. You either rear end, get rear ended (from braking), or otherwise get ran over trying to swerve around it. I think the problem is that they don't have a clutch so they wait to hit the throttle when the light turns green. Have had the same happen in GT Challenge once

Do you have AIM? I have some painted cars I'd like to send you so you can get pictures and send directly to me. Getting abit annoying sending them via links or that very tricky trading paints program.

I don't have a clutch (stock DFGT) and I can still get off the line pretty fast, I put it in 1st and it'll auto-clutch and I just mash the gas when the light turns green, I think too many people either spin their tires, are trying too hard not to spin their tires. I usually have to back off of people so I don't hit them but it's even more noticeable for me with rolling starts where people just seem to be sleeping

Press print screen and copy to your paint program but only when the window isn't full screen

I mean I want to send finished TGA files. Right now, I don't have iRacing so I have to rely on someone who does have it to get pictures of my paint schemes.

I have not had that many races but everyone that had a standing start I had trouble, one was a guy in front of me not do anything and I clipped him trying to get around him. It's like he left the room or fell a sleep. Another time at Okayama everyone slowed for the 1st corner except the last 2 cars who were jockeying for position and they took out about 6 cars that slowed for the corner.

I too like standing starts but I think they lead to more crashes then rolling starts. I will go for whatever you guys decide. I will be at the back of the pack anyways. :)

They've added new ways to deal with protesting now so I'd say lodge one, and they might face something like a weeks suspension or something and that'll change their ways for sure.

How long does it take for the support team to change your id name? I sent them an email and the request has been sent through but my name hasn’t been changed?

It took them a day or two to process mine, they were very helpful 👍

Decided to go ahead and put my CST pedals and CSR-Elite wheel up for sale a little early. So I won't be playing iRacing again until the CSW and CSP V2's are out I guess :/

I think it was my internet connection, I joined the next race and only the first 2 guys had qualified, I started 10th and finished 4th as the 2nd car 1 lap down and gained 48 irating and .02 SR.

right now, I'm class C 2.14, If I drop below 2.0 what happens? am I then class d or class c 1.xx?

C 1.xx. If you're below C 2.00 at the end of the season you'll be demoted to D. I believe also if you go below 1.00 you'll be demoted, but I'm not entirely sure.

But for the moment you're OK. I just got myself up into the 2.xxs again today after a while stuck in the 1.xxs. I take it as a sign to stop trying to win and focus more on driving safe.

You can assign the clutch to a button if you wish. I assigned mine to the circle button (DFGT here as well). It helps, for starts anyway. Still pointless for racing. :)

Looks intentional

something quit similiar had happened to me in a cts vr race yesterday even though it didnt neccessarily ruin my race, but my SR.

I spun out on my own and went off into the gravel, when suddenly out of nowhere a "Nick C." came and totally crashed me. When i looked at the replay i saw he was aiming for me perfectly... he was full throttle until he hit me .... even though i was quit a distance into the gravel .... SOF was 2400+.

iracing becoming like GT5 ??? :D

Report him. Same to Roush_fan_99.
iRacing is no place for immature people who are not racing seriously. I report every blatant intentional wreck I see, whether I'm involved or not.

Just watched your Nurburgring quali lap. I wish I was you. :)

iRacing is amazing. Tried the caddy for the first time in a race today and came 3rd. But my safety rating has dropped a lot any help for a noob?

Glad to hear you're enjoying iRacing:tup:

As far as SR, it only has to do with staying on track, not losing control, and not hitting anything(cars, walls, etc.) I would say just race within your ability and you'll see that SR go up over time. Don't get too involved with battling for position unless its near the end of the race. Just take it easy and have fun.:)

that last CTS race was just absurd, I was running 3rd when I was hit by spun lapped car and I had to pit, then the rest of the race went downhill from there, I was brake checked twice on I think it's turn 6, the one that was the cause of the gt5 lancer seasonal to be cancelled and runs up to the corkscrew, resulting only in body damage but the other guy's rear wheels came a good foot or 2 off the ground, and even the top 3 guys don't know how to pass, I left the door wide open and 2 of the 3 found a way to hit me and one even spun me on exit to the hairpin, I lost .32 SR!:grumpy:

edit: up .16 SR, after the last one, I also dropped below 1:30 for the first time with 5 to go, I did a 1:29.972:)

The CTS is massively out of place in the license progression. It should be C class at the very least. You're taking rookies, who have trouble driving a Miata cleanly at the best of times, and sticking them in a very powerful and fairly unstable racing car. Most of them simply don't have the skills to deal with it. And unfortunately there's little incentive for them to learn safe driving skills because they already have access to a great car. Previously they would have had to get out of rookie to get to something like a CTS, which would have necessitated learning a basic level of safe driving.

Disclaimer: Some rookies are completely capable of handling the CTS-VR, but for every one like that I'd say that there are 10 that should spend a couple months racing the Miata first.

The options are:
1. Don't race. :(
2. Race only in really big races and get yourself in a high split. Requires 2000+ iRating.
3. Drive super defensively. Race like everyone is a complete moron. Trust no one and nothing.

That's it, really. You're in an overpowered car with the least skilled drivers on the whole service. Adapt your driving accordingly. Pretend you're driving in India or something, I hear that's quite risky. ;)

I've taken option #3 and sometimes it just doesn't matter how defensive I am and sometimes it pays off really well

another question: does anybody else use the trading paints desktop or desktop express? I an't seem to expand the window and make it large enough to see everything

Finally bit the bullet and gave iRacing a go. I was cautious at first as I wasn't sure my laptop would handle it after issues with other games with similar perfomance specs. However I was pleasantly surprised to find my laptop could handle it pretty well albeit on low settings - kept a nice steady FPS of around 70.
So I jumped in the Miata on Okayama Short as I had noticed that the current week is on this track as well as being a track I'm reasonably familiar with from watching various "1st day impression" videos on the internets. I took it steady at first and worked my laptimes down from a 1'17 to 1'04 and eventually 1'03s. Each lap was a learning experience really, learning how my new DFGT reacts and getting a handle on the car, the track and well everything.

I have to say the most immediate thing that I noticed was braking - having become so used to games either having ABS or having instant-locking brakes I was surprised to find there was a fair bit of play you could have with the brakes - you can be hard with them or soft with them but you need to adapt your approach to however you use them. This was quite new for me as before I'd become used to their being only one way of braking and only really one line to take. Now suddenly I can play around with different braking styles and manipulate the car to take different lines. Needless to say most of the laptime gain I was finding was trying different braking points and turn-ins.

Anyway I moved on to taking part in an official practice session so I could run a little bit with other cars and try to get my times down. I think I managed to get them down to around a 1'02.3xx but I was making a lot of mistakes. I then took part in qualifying and ran a 1'02.2xx and qualified in 2nd position for my first race.

First race was a bit of a nightmare. Up to this point I had run around 50 laps or more in practice and I felt I could run a consistent pace. But inevitably I under-estimated the pressure and sheer concentration required to keep it together in race situations. I battled for the lead for the first 2 laps but then made a mistake at turn 5 - turning in a little too much, riding the curb and half-spinning. This dropped me 3 positions to 5th. I then had contact with another driver who made an optimistic lunge into turn 1 and gave me moderate damage. I pitted and from there I just made a comedy of errors suffering more and more damage until I decided enough was enough.

On the bright side, I learnt a lot of things from my first race - start procedures, pitting, etc. I also kept up with the leader so I was confident about going into a second race.

Second qualifying session didn't go so well as I continued the string of errors every lap but managed a 1'02.6xx. I got put into my second race on pole with a slightly easier field. This time around there would be no mistakes, I kept the lead from the start and made one mistake taking an accidental shortcut. I dropped the lead for a couple of laps but then swiftly took it back and never looked back. I build a 10 second lead and then just took my time on the last 18 laps to take home the win.

Bloody hell that was hard work but I'm more than happy to come away with a win in only my second race.

I think the main thing that I'm getting used to is tyre and brake temperature - or at least it seems this is modelled anyway. The first few laps on track and after slowing for incidents or passing other cars I'm having to think about my braking points and lines as I'm not used to such large effects on the handling of the car. But I'm loving this element as it makes it such a challenge keeping your own pace and judging how fast you push it. It makes the laps when everything is up to temperature feel supreme as you find the extra grip!

An intense but awesome first night on iRacing. Loving every second of it, even the disappointment.

I won my first race, in the cts-vr! and only by a fraction of a second!:D:D I also did a 1:28.8xx

Iracing can't change the class, because since caddilac gave them the car for free (basically) there contract says they have to use it as a rookie class until it ends.

Yeah, still they could've made a "Fun" series for everyone and a C class official series, or at least a Class C "Open" series...

The four weeks at Laguna Seca will be the worst since all Rookies will have that combo.

That worked as a good test session for me. Okayama is so glassy compared to other tracks. I think I realized that every time I spun, it was on a corner after any of the slow 2nd gear ones. Diff seemed to be a little too open and spinning a wheel on those exits, giving me a cooked tire for the next turn.

Some scary driving in that group, during practice at least. :scared:

Alright that's what I'm talking bout 👍

I reached my goal qualifying time for indy oval-fixed this week. So I was ready to go try to win me one but I got unlucky and got tossed into a 'higher' split (1800+) much to my surprise. They have just as many wrecks as the mid split but they are a little faster. I'm going to have to step up my game now if I want to hit Top 5 :scared:
