I lost 300 Irating and over .20 SR these past 2 days. I cannot use a rubber band modded g27 shifter. I need a real sequential, the rubber bands snap sometimes during a race, I went through 5 sets in 3 days.

Just finished up my Indy 500 race. Was in the Rookie division and 3rd split out of 5 since I did no qualifying and rarely do Ovals. Was able to pick up the win! No inc and the racing was actually pretty close!

Congratulations! 👍
I damaged my car too hard, so I 'finished' 19th with 4 inc. :ouch: But I was happy enough, because I was in the top split. (Rookie to D Indy 500)

Anybody racing at the World 600? Maybe I'll take part, maybe not, because when it starts, it's 12pm here in Germany -> big chance to fall asleep during a caution. :nervous:

Get the Pro Sequential from Derek, you won't be disappointed. It's not like all the toy shifters on the market.

I always had my eye on the Pro sequential from Derek but I'd have to figure out a way to mount it, also since I would lose 10 buttons from switching to this instead of my g27 shifter, I'm going to have to buy a button box.

LayneSP's button boxes look really good.

Also have you tried the TSW sequential shifter? Its 50$ more then the pro but has a clamp and looks bomb proof.

Derek's pro shifter is double bomb proof :D, it is very solid. Doesn't take much to mount it. What do you have for a rig?

I was thinking about making a slit through the wood. Then stick the sequential shifter through it, and mount it with a ram mount Derek recommends.

I hope its stable!

just cut a rectangular hole the size of Derek's shifter through your plywood, then bolt it through the 2x4 underneath the plywood. Derek's shifter is solid, it takes a lot of force to shift it.

Another solution is to do what I did I used a flat piece of iron 4" wide and I think it was about 17" high. I drilled 2 holes through it at the bottom and my rig. Then bolted it to my rig, it is solid.

Using the Ram mount is also a good idea, it would probably be the easiest.

I like your idea, but how long are the screws for mounting it? Is it more then 2 inches? If not then I would have to countersink :scared:

They are actually bolts not screws and they go through the body of the shifter. They probably wouldn't be long enough to go through a 2x4.

the FFB is perfect now did some adjustment to the Logitech Profiler, but i am still getting some rattling from the wheel when braking its annoying, did a 1:02:244 in the Mazda No Aids 5 laps done so far :D

When braking? It's not the ABS kicking in, is it?

I don't get how the Ram mount would work, I can't think of an attachment that would hold a shifter like that without breaking. I'm used to seeing window/dash/yoke mounted Ram mounts holding iPads, I'm probably thinking of the wrong mount though.

Also, what is that FFB clipping software that was mentioned months ago, and is it free?

If you need the buttons you could also get Derek's Econo-Sport Sequential. It's not quite as hefty as the Pro Sequential from what I hear, but it's cheaper and it's got buttons.

just won my first iRacing race with the Mazda cup! my best lap was a 1:01:5 :) very proud of myself because this is only my second day :)

I'm taking advantage of the spring credit offer to buy IndyCar content but do you reckon the fixed oval series will run the same tracks in season 3? (Indy, Michigan, Texas, Milwaukee, Miami and Iowa)

As I don't want to buy all of the tracks to find that 5 of the 6 aren't in next season.

EDIT: Never mind, bought them anyway; who said money was important?

that's 2 mustang races now where idiots have nailed me hard once on entry to the chicane with a pass that the guy decided to take the whole track up, and the second, there was a wreck an a guy came out right in front of me and slow, so I checked up then out of nowhere a guy about 4 seconds back rear ends me, since he had nowhere to go since it was already 2 wide, with no brakes at all when I was already a little damaged from scraping the wall to avoid the massive first lap pile up at the top of the hill, then he CAME BACK AND DID THE SAME EXACT THING AGAIN!

it hasn't been a good week, I have last over .30 SR and for whatever reason I'm slower and more incident prone:yuck:

New deal from ISR that gives you 3 months, Watkins Glen, the Riley DP, and all of the other base content for $15.

They are doing a Riley DP + Cadillac 2hr race at Watkins Glen on June 30th, hopefully I can make it! I'll be in the Riley DP if I do.

That's a pretty good deal. Watkins is one of the most used and most popular tracks on the service. It's also great. :)

i have a problem guys, how can i avoid these wankers :( my SR got to 2.08 because of them and i always want to fight for the win i cant see myself driving in the pack of the field and doing slow laps :(

I feel your pain. There is a famous saying in iRacing...I think it is attributed to John Henry, the millionare financing the game, that goes to the affect of, "the goal of a rookie is to get out of rookie class."

some ideas...not mine, but from the iRacing veterans...

Assuming you want to move on to other race series I would bet a lot of people will tell you to run clean races or TTs in order to get your SR up to +4.0. If you get your SR to +4.0 and have completed 4 races/TTs for your MPR then you automatically get promoted to D License.

If you still want to to stick around the Mazda Cup racing then I bet people will recommend that you qualify for the races. Most pilots don't quali so chances are you will be in the front of the pack (and with your fast lap times above I bet you can grab some pole positions!). This way you can avoid the race pack and associated collisions and wrecks.

Another common problem with rookies is that they do not understand race strategy. Often if they are a 1+ laps down or about to be lapped they will still fight for positions at the same time ignoring or not understanding the meaning of the Blue Flag on the screen! LOL This is dangerous for both pilots. When I have found myself in this situation I will go on voicecomms and quickly and POLITELY explain the situation ("hey, I'm a lap ahead of you, no need for us to fight for position"). More often than not the other pilot will allow me to pass safely.

FWIW...Do you know of the F3 feature during the race? it will show you relative positions of cars around you - blue cars are lapped by you, red cars are laps ahead of you, white cars are on the same lap as you.

I am sure some other GTP/iRacing vets will be along to give you some more options!
good luck!
:)
