The Ford GT class is a joke this season. Picked up yet another win last night. Ran 1 lap of practice around Spa, then went straight to racing. Finished in first by 70 seconds. Where's the competition guys? Lol. Sitting 1st in Division 3 and 2nd in all divisions combined.

Dude, I have no clue how you ended up in D3 this season... You definitely are D1 material, as for the Ford I got no clue about how competitive it is. I know there's a lot of fast guys who drive it but don't know how often or how commited they are to the championship.

I haven't totally clicked with the GT yet. Going to give it a better try next season and do lots more practices. I hate that the GT Challenge only races on the weekend, and qualifying isn't open until then either. I ran some practice laps at Spa and kept it together pretty well, sort of decent pace I think. Other tracks I'm awful.

Yeah, they should at least open up quali during the week!

I know I usually post these here, but this race was extremely close and pretty exciting. Take the time to watch it. No cautions until the last 35 minutes or so and then we let them fly.

I'm definitely not D1 material. I used to be D2 Last year. But for some reason I've been moved to D3 a few seasons ago. What is considered a good time around Spa in the GT? I was able to get down to 2:22.7

*EDIT*

I should mention that I only run the fixed series so I can save time not doing setups. A bit busy at the moment to do the whole setup thing this season.

I usually turn to Proto/GT qualifying times during the week to gauge how bad I am.

I have a hard time with the GT, I end up hitting a curb usually and that ends my day, and being on the low end of the Class C range (2.0 - 2.4 consistently, and currently 2.08 SR) I tend to think twice now on what series I run (depending on track) each week.

Also, I need to loosen the rear of the mustang, I can't get it to rotate at all and I just understeer like crazy. The front end is fine, I just have way too much grip in the rear

Mustang is a slow in, fast out car. Slow it down early (adjust brake bias to get the rear a little looser), get it turned, and roll onto the throttle.

Did a couple of races with the IndyCar at Spa this weekend. The open series is very fun as it requires a pit stop for fuel at least. The race is pretty long also, over an hour, kind of hard to keep focused the whole time.

So now I'll buy Infineon and Barber to race the next two weeks and I was thinking of getting one more item so I could get the discount. Just not sure what to get.

Finally got iRacing back after 2 years, still an oval C-Class

nice! Welcome back! Did you stop paying for the service in your 2-year hiatus? I have read some posts where people say if you stop paying and rejoin the service you still have all of your content and license?

Yes, you could of joined in 2008 and came back today and you would still have all your content licensed to you. You don't have to pay to keep your account, just to play.

Less front brake bias I assume, this NTM is like relearning a whole new car

Drive it like a (much more stable) CTSVR. Its on narrow DOT legal tires, so abrupt inputs overwhelm them easily. Be gentle, pay attention to the weight shifting. Steering is more vague with the NTM, and requires a little more input than before I think. But start dialing in a little steering to begin shifting the weight outside earlier than you normally would. The NTM isn't going to be as forgiving to slide the car for long races, but it still corners best when you give it enough throttle to get the rear a little loose. When its facing the right way you just roll onto the throttle quickly enough to not understeer or cause wheelspin.

I did stop paying because my old computer broke, so I race Tour Modified and Trucks since I'm eligible. And coming from that I'm eligible, I still have my content and license, C Class Oval. :D

I have about 2 months left on my account, I'm D class for road and rookie for oval, can never have a clean race in oval.

If you can catch a break and string together a few clean races to get your iRating up, the racing gets much better in the higher splits.

Yeah, I'm think if I get the Impala I might level up faster.

Oval races are tough just because people are so close to each other while racing, especially when you get into pack racing in the upper license levels. But you can get clean races in oval, you just have to drive defensively and be aware of what's going on around you. Just don't expect people to make the correct decision at any given time, this is just a game after all, so people are going to make stupid aggressive moves because there's no real danger. Just be overly patient and always be looking a few seconds ahead, you should be fine.

I'm still a D class in rookies but there are two ways to really help you move up without as many dumb drivers. First is qualify good, and just don't over drive or start in the pits while field wrecks itself.

The road side of things have been a little struggle. I'm planning to race the Riley DP in upcoming event at Watkins Glen w boot. I either over brake which causes a spin or don't brake enough to which I wreck. It's tough finding the right braking zones for me.

I started iracing last week, and was getting pretty good in the MX-5 around limerock. I even won a race and came in 2nd/3rd a few times.

Now the series is at Okoyama, and I am having a hard time getting to speed on that track. Would anyone be willing to share some tips on getting a good lap time around that track?

Hard to know where to start really. Where are you having problems?

Where are you struggling? The track layout is totally different to that of limerock, so you have to drive the corners quite a bit different. Most of the time it's about the driving style with the tracks.

Going through withdrawals. My rig is almost complete, so now I'm just waiting on the CSR-Elite pedals to get here. Then back to iRacing at last! I've had Diablo 3 to cover my gaming needs so I guess it hasn't been too bad.

Gave up on the idea of getting three tracks to get a discount. The price of the dollar is too high over here right now so I only got Infineon and Barber. Good thing Barber is cheaper, guess the track is short.

Yea that is weird, what series are the blokes racing then? Private leagues?

I'm really not sure. Of course the CTS is getting huge numbers this season (most likely will drop after the "new car buzz" wears off). But, it almost seems like all of the series are a bit down on participants this year. Maybe member numbers are starting to decline? I know that people are really really starting hurt on the money funds, Maybe they are cutting iRacing for money?

Just a guess of course.

Most people just got fed up by idiots driving HPDs and punting every GT car off. Participation on the GT series is pretty healthy.
