I grabbed my first (and probably only) win above rookie-class!
:dopey:

I had a great battle from the green to the checkered last night in the Skip Barber race series. It was the lowest split and everyone was extremely clean in the 12 lap Watkin Glens event. The battling for positions got so crazy that on Lap 4 I even backed off and let two cars by so I could collect my wits! :scared: The only major incident was the race leader being taken out by a lapped car around mid-race.

And a huge thanks to the one pilot Benoit for being such a clean and safe competitor. His race pace in the SKB on all tracks is unbelievably fast. He spun out and put me in the lead with 3 laps to go and then caught me on the last lap. I went defensive and held him off for the win without him doing any crazy rookie moves (he probably let me know since he has so many victories!).

I also have to thank my Fanatec wheel and pedals for allowing me to have a little better control of the car when approaching the edge. Compared to the other pilots I was fortunate enough to have only made two or three slight errors compared to major errors/spins by my opponents.

I did a clean race now, me like. What a diffrence if you have responsible drivers around you.
Although i still have some GT5-thing in my driving style. As soon as the race is finished i might turn my hands away of the wheel. :ouch: But now there is no auto-pilot that take over 💡

Ran a Radical race tonight and really enjoyed it, the car felt much better than it did last season. I'm not aware of any specific changes to the Radical, so I think it boils down to the new linear FFB option. I'll be running a full season in this car for sure.

Oh and I'm dropping the Indy road fixed series, I just can't get a handle on that car, it's too much for me and with all the other series I race in, I just don't have the time to fight with the car.

Still looking forward to the McLaren so much though, that is a car that I will spends hours and hours learning just because it's sooooooooooooooo sexy. Will be the best looking car on iRacing IMO.

From what I have seen in FIA GT and Blancpain its a terrible car lol. Hopefully iRacing didn't model it exactly to spec haha.

That's due to teething troubles, brand new cars that have never been raced tend to do that, not to mention it's been quite some time since Mclaren built it's last GT racecar..

Whats this linear FFB thing i keep hearing about? Is it an option in the game? All i see are 2 sliders for my FFB settings in the option menu. How is it different from what the game has already?

Im finally running acceptable times in the spec racer, i downloaded a tune and tweeked the ride height a bit and now im running mid 2:15's which is good enough for a top 5, but there are still guys running 14's and i saw a 2:14.2 just now :scared: i just dont see how i can push the car much more.

Congratulations! These kind of races are what I like to read!

Just got my Oval license to D 4.44. So, I will now be able to get up to an B 4.99 license and run the Indy Oval series if I have any tracks! Yay! Only tracks I will have are Indianapolis lol. I will probably buy Kentucky though because I used to live close to it, and it usually provides some fun racing.

Shinya, you may just find yourself addicted to oval racing in iRacing. I never thought I would like it, but I worked my way through Legends and now race the trucks, B-car, and A-car quite often. I think the close quarters door to door and nose to tail racing is so much fun.

Honestly, I can't really describe the technical aspects of the linear force feedback, but I think it comes down to making the force feedback even through the entire motion range, where before it was non-linear so you would get different levels of force feedback depending on where your wheel was. Also they added an option that helps to eliminate deadzones. It's all in the app.ini file. There are 4 or 5 new lines dedicated to adjusting force feedback. The overall result in my opinion though is that the cars in iRacing are finally achieving a similar feel to what we get in NetKar Pro. In other words, I actually feel like the car is on the road instead of floating above it, I can feel many more subtle cues to tell me what is happening with my traction.

One thing though, you will probably have to turn up your force feedback level in game quite a bit.

I can't wait till they update the Dallara Indycar. I will probably buy it right before they do so i can get both cars.

One thing to keep in mind, SR still in play until the last guy crosses the finish line, so doing a cooldown lap and bringing it into the pits is always good practice for some free SR!

I notice, i parked my car in the gravel :ouch:

As long as you go off under 15MPH you won't get an SR hit.
Let me explain better how it works, once the leader takes the chekered flag the timer will reset to 2 minutes and will count down to 0, in that time SR will still count unless the last guy crosses the finish line or retires before the countdown is over. You will know this when the countdown resets again to 15 minutes, once it reset to the 15 minutes SR is now off the table and you free to act as a loonie if you so desire.(hint hint doughnuts!)

I think it is a nice improvement on the T500 but those with G25/27s seem to benefit the most. Essentially the game used to compress force feedback effects - presumably so that older, poorer FFB wheel would feel "more"

Also worth looking at is the minimum force needed to activate your wheel aka "ffb deadzone". Can be a good improvement for G25/27 wheels again.

Take a look here.

I might actually run the late model this season. It’s cheaper and I get more for my money. What’s the quality of racing in that series?

Me 2. As well as the analog stick. But my directional pad works in the fanatec tool but not in iracing

I'm finally running in iracing! Not quickly, not always on the track but it's all setup and working.

Hopefully see some of you on the track (in a week or two when I've practiced).

I bought my PC last night and it should be here sometime next week.

500GB HDD
4GB Memory
ATi HD 7770 1GB graphics chip.
3.3GHz

Only little problem with it is that it has a bad PSU, (If memory serves me right it's 700w) but that shouldn't be too much of a problem with it, I know it's not one of those 80% ones. I could always get a better one and put it in right?

What kind of processor is it? Hope its at least a quad core one. That video card is kick ass, but you might want to add 2-4gb of memory its fairly cheap. Whats wrong with the PSU, does it not work?

First win in the Inracing News Challenge in the Solstice, ran a qualifying setup so my tires were dying towards the end but I managed to hold off 2nd. Fun.

Yeah it is Quad core.

I was told by nick09 that it could cause damage because it could overheat the components inside the computer. But I'm not overly bothered, it comes with a years warranty and I have a job for the year now, may only get me 40 euro a week but it is more then I need.

Maxitsu, you're getting taken out by idiots because you're driving with most of them with such a low iRating.

Just make sure all your components get good air flow. If you have to, make sure the PSU fan is facing up so it does not overheat (unless your case has a dust filter where the PSU would go). Most likely the PSU will be louder, but it may add some life for that PSU.

I really like doing oval stuff. I really enjoy the indy car racing around the limited ovals that I own. This being said, I have considered doing the Oval series seriously along side my road series that I run. Only problem is, I am only 3 tracks from owning every road course in the sim. I would rather finish that out then move to Ovals. The problem after that is justifying the money to move to full seasons in Oval.I own little to none of all of the tracks and cars. Which would get very expensive. I would rather spend the money on a good desktop instead of running iRacing off of my low performance Macbook pro.

It's hit or miss just like other lower series. You can have great races all day, then could be the other way around. It's the only car I am running at the moment, and I have had some pretty good races til we have one idiot. I was the idiot 2 races in a row because my driving style was different.

We had one guy in about 3-4 races named Eddie King I believe was his name, he was always overally aggressive, wrecked the leader because pushed him out of the way after 5 laps of trying to get by him. On the start of a race twice, I drove through a guy because he braked alot earlier than I was expecting and couldn't get off him fast enough.
