Yeah no points system will suit everybody or be perfect. There will always be somebody that will disagree. I think if they go with the 25% system most people will be happy. If it's a epic fail they could always go back I guess. I think it will help in participation. It's lacking right now because of it being summer time I think. I know for me I race a lot less during the summer months as I am out doing stuff outside. I think it will pick back up over the winter months anyway, but allowing people to do more races and not hurt their points will help as well.

Maybe it is best to just realise that there is No proper fix to the points problem.

I think you are right on the money with that statement, it is impossible to make everyone happy all of the time.

You should have a email from iRacing

I guess they sent those emails out during the week I had my subscription lapse.

IF I knew what their options to fix it, I could better comment. Honestly any system will be flawed and people will still keep doing same things anyway.

Maybe, they could do this. Keep it at 2 chances like before. But, have a little check box that you could check before signing up for a race that says "Count this for points" or "Don't count this for points" That way you can run as many races as you want, if you have the time to do that. I think this may be the best way. You still get a second chance. And lets be honest, once you get to a series were many people actually take points seriously, you don't really have to worry about crazy drivers.

No offense to the South American members but, the only people I see making stupid moves in higher series are South American drivers. Maybe get them their own servers?

Well, I still think the safety rating needs a look at. Not sure why they chose to look at championship points first?

If races were more "real" and people took damages etc more seriously, wouldn't need more than 1 race. To be honest, if you stuffed up because it was your fault, then thats it.

If you stuffed up because of someone else's fault than I think you should get a second chance. But you can just fix the safety rating system for this.

I know its not a great example, but take F1 for example, if you crash or stuff up, your fault or someone elses, thats the end of your race BUT the actions will be reviewed and heavy fines apply.

That's not a bad idea but you would really need some kind of SOF indicator, but a SOF indicator will probably hurt participation because guys won't sign up because the SOF is too low. I do like the idea of a bit of extra pressure and nerves because you've checked the ''count for points'' box :)

This is pretty much what happens now, you crash into someone or someone crashes into you and you both lose (just like in real life). You protest and actions get taken against those responsible, but seriously how bad do you think the punishments are ever going to be, we have all paid them money and they want us to carry on paying them.

I had something kind of strange happen during a truck race last night.

We were racing in the open truck MIS race, and I took only right sides half way through since my lefts were still around the 95% mark. Checking tire wear after the pit stop, it showed my "new" right sides down in the 80-85% mark. Anyone have a clue what that was all about?

How did you know what your tire wear level was while driving? You only get that info after stopping in the pits. The numbers you were looking at were not live. They were from your most recent pitstop or "exit to garage". Could have been data from the end of the warmup or something. So most likely the tires you changed out were the ones at 80-85%.

I tend to see a huge number of crazy Brazilians. At least when running in the Mazda Cup.

Regarding the 25% points option, I think the goal is to get more races to go official in the dwindling series'

I was confused since normally I don't really worry about tire wear as much in the lower classes. It seems now I understand what you guys are saying and would make more sense, it just threw me off on things.

It would be great to have some servers over here, especially for the league races I participate in as the ping would be really low.

Ah, no problem. I partly agree, there's lots of Brazilians who are very aggressive. Some can pull that style skillfully, some can't.

I honestly get worried whenever I'm anywhere near an Italian iRacer, they seem to be very aggressive quite often. From the couple years I spent in Italy, they drive very aggressively in real life too.

Such a stupid driver...

I'm in the green car.

Hi all! I just got iracing last night, and have done my first race(s) this afternoon after some much needed practice!

1st race- cadillac Cup; taken out on first lap, 10 minutes of damage repair, used the rest as a practice session; that is a beast of a car!

2nd race- Nividia Cup; again, taken out on the first lap, while leading (-.-) I had a lot of fun making my way back up to 6th! Almost had 5th, but after 2 laps of battling, I let him go. He was soooo much quicker than me, I almost felt bad for not letting him through sooner!

3rd race- Nividia Cup; started second, dropped to 3rd in the first turn. Got back into first on the 1st lap, then mess up the first turn. I go back to right behind the 2nd place car, in 3rd. The guy in second was driving like a total maniac! He tries to take the last turn flat out.... Nails the leader, and they go flying into the sand! Now I'm leading again! I mess up a downshift at the end of the back straight, fall back to 5thish. I get all mad and rush... And crash my car! So now I pull a noob move and fill my car full of gas... So I'm a lap down, I had some great battles and make my way up to 6th!

Needless to say, I'm having a BLAST with this!

I'm about to start my first oval race in the street stock car... I hope to make it to the end without wrecking! I've heard horror stories about this race...

Welcome to the service. I hope you have a good time. Good luck on your first Street Stock race. They are fun to drive after a few hours of practice.

Thanks!

I had a blast! I started 12th, and just from wreck avoidance I was up to third in no time. Then second place made it 2 wide with the leader, the leader got sideways and I get collected... I have to pit for damage, and then get a stop and go for speeding. I finish in 9th, there were 2 guys wrecking everyone.... I dodged them a few times.

What license do you have to have to do the Indycar series? Preferably the oval fixed.

Welcome to iRacing. That sounds very similar to my first races. Use the F4 and F5 keys while on the grid and you can cancel fuelling and tire changes. I make that a habit to do it at the start of every race. Once you press F5 you can use the down arrow and space bar to deselect each tire. For F4 just hit the space bar once and it will deselect fuel.

I apologize if you knew this already.

Thanks! I've got that figured out for the most part now!

So I'm trucking along in 4th... Messed up my lead... Again.... And then BAM! Computer restarts! WWWWHHHHHAAATTT!!!!

Will this effect my safety rating?

Not unless your car crashed the field before it officially left the server lol. That sucks, hardware failures happen though and i guess you could treat it like a "mechanical" malfunction with the car.

So ive got my case/psu and the keyboard/mouse now for my PC build. I finally found a good motherboard at a decent price and i should be up and running within a month or less. I havent been playing much lately, although i started practicing with the spec racer @ lime rock tonight. I think im getting the hang of this tuning thing, i was able to get a good stable setup and run some 1'00 flats in my first session. I saw some low 59's posted so hopefully ill get there.

Polarbear, you may want to try starting from the pits for a few races if you're being in that many incidents. Instead of clicking Grid during the countdown, wait for that timer to finish (missing grid) and then it will change to something like "Start From Pits". You'll be put in your pitbox and be allowed to drive once the field goes by (its usually a 15 second hold from when the green flag flies). Then you can pick your way through the field as they crash themselves.

I'll definitely try this! Judging by the races I was in today, I shouldn't have too many problems finishing 6thish.

Thanks for the tip!
