I wanted to race (practice) today after work and try the mustang, GT, cadi, and dp......but I started drinking. I guess I'll try them tomorrow

the race report says two incidents. The 0x's do not count towards that. Maybe you got an loss of control on warmup or after the finish.

Honestly I can't even get to grips with the fixed setup I spin out all the time. I just don't even get it! It's driving me crazy! (first season in trucks)

Throttle management is biggest thing I can tell you, and to start turning right as you get on the gas slowly. The low line will cause you to be loose at Michigan, a groove up is perferred line.

Can you not blow the motor in practice? Ive been running practices in the dp for 3 days and never once blew the motor, tonight I join the daytona race and on lap 7 slowing for turn 1 it pops (first Ive done that in any car). I didnt do anything different than I do in practice. I cant figure out what I did wrong. It did scare the crap out of me when it poped. Had the volume and buttkicker cranked up lol.

Nope, warm up and cool down were clean.

Maybe in quali cause I got a black flag and some
x2's as I wasn't overly bothered.

May have got a black flag in practice actually for pit lane speeding..

Edit: No you can't blow the engine in practice. Try stay off the throttle during gear shifts and time the shifts right under braking and it should be fine.

Blew the motor in the Mazda earlier from over revving the engine during up-shifts.

^ i like how they scan the surroundings and not just the track, attention to detail is why i like this game so much.

On a side note my PC build should be completed within the next few weeks. Ive started ordering some parts already and have narrowed down the internals i want to run. Ill post all the specs once i have it built, i cant wait to see iracing in all its glory the way its meant to be played.

I didn't know they already scanned the track?!? I like how iRacing announces things and launches them without years in between.

You know, I've heard this same thing happening to many people in the DP, at Daytona, including myself. I practiced literally 2-4 hrs a day for the 2.4hr race at Daytona and never blew the motor. Probably a total of 30-40hrs of practice and iirc about 15-20 minutes into the race I blew the motor on a downshift in turn 1.

I just find it interesting other people have had just about the same experience as I have. Glitch maybe? I don't know, but very interesting.

Thankfully I've never blown a motor on the DP, but i have on the C6.R while leading the race at Mosport and on the Mustang on the Pace lap, also the Caddy but after a massive crash on Spa! Water Temp went over 180* and KABLAMO!!

1) Your laps show that you had an off-track on lap 4 and a car contact on lap 5. That accounts for a 1x and a 0x (car contact is either 0x or 4x on its own), and probably a 1x in warmup.

2) Quali session is not linked in any way to the SR you get in a race session.

3) You absolutely can blow an engine in practice.

I can blow the DP engine at will :D it is not that difficult, downshifting when the revs are to high. My tach has saved me countless times when racing with the DP.

About a week ago some guy joined a practice session with a bunch of people on track already in the late model at south boston and he'd do 2 laps and blow the motor every time and nobody could see, I just realized that he had left qualifying tape on

If you guys need any late model setups I have right many pretty good ones from last season that will probably work for this season if you guys want to try them. It's been a while since I've raced them but I think I'm going to run the late model some this season at a couple tracks. Since the league I run in went to fixed setups for their truck and nationwide series the only car I work on setups for now is the class a cup car when I do decide to race it.

I've been driving both the modifieds some since they have the NTM on them and have been updated. I've just been practicing them, but going to try and race at some point once I can get some more time in the cars. Thinking about running them for next season. Anybody else here messed with them since the update?

Oh thanks for that. Also I actually tried with the Mazda and no avail... Went into a practice session and it went on lap 1..

Got a quick question: yesterday in race there was a moderately slower car in front of me, which was disappearing from my screen for a good couple of seconds few times per lap. I presume it's the connection quality issue on someones end, but the question is - what should one do when there are cars like that around you? If I keep driving at my normal pace - can the car reappear on top of me or right in front of me at the worst moment or there are some safeguards in the code against that?

their is safe guards do not trust them. if their is a "blinky person" i would steer away, or just watch them. its not the appearing in you that is scare, its the appearing next to you that will get you in trouble because you will both turn into each other not knowing any better.

I just run my normal pace but keep your head on a swivel. I got kinda lucky on the last one, the guy in front was a little slower and blinking badly and he reappeared in my blindspot to the right and we got lucky as the spotter suddenly said "car to the right" but he backed off pretty quickly once that happened, and he was very aware of what was happening

Thanks.
So how do you know that you're the 'blinky person'?
When every car around you seems to be 'blinky'?

^ yes, and if you use the F3 "Relative box" everyone will suddenly disappear as opposed to just one guy

No, you'll see the "Q" in the framerate box start sliding up while it turned red, and if it reaches the end of the bar, then it kicks you unless you get lucky and your internet restores

Yeah, go on the wheel, left to the name of the myRacer. Then there should pop up a little window, where you can choose "Race Now" or "Watch Now".
If it's a password-protected hosted session and you want to watch, you still need the password.

I hope this is the answer you expected. If not -> I'm sorry. :(

Anybody else take the survey they emailed out about the points scoring for championships? I chose the 25% option where they would only count your best 25% of races so do 4 races they count your best 1. They count you best 50% of races now so race 4 and they average your best 2. They didn't have the option up there I really wanted though. I think they should just count your single best race for the whole week. That way you could do as many races ad you want and wouldn't worry about losing points. Also think there would be more higher SOF races with them just counting your best race because people wouldn't be nervous about losing points if the SOF was lower.

I agree, that would be a good way to encourage participation. Which is something that can be quite a problem depending on which series you're taking part in and your time zone.

To play the role of devil's advocate, the downside would be that it encourages people with a lot of time to be more aggressive and just hope for that one race where it all comes together. I know there are quite a lot of drivers out there that are quick but find it tough to hold it together for a full race distance. It encourages those people to just repeat races rather than drive at a "safe" pace.

Personally I don't think completely open is the way to go, but I do think it should be more than the 50% at the moment.
