So, anyone want to persuade me, to finally buy this game, when my paycheck comes in? You guys know that I've been around, heard the good stories, and the HPD stories :guilty:.

But, give me your impressions and ratings. Honesty appreciated, please.

Well now is the time to buy as new memberships are half price.
Honestly in my opinion it is worth it and I have only played it for a day.

Having raced with you in gran turismo, I will compare it to the racing we've had here.

I believe that it is worlds better for simulation, which for me, makes it more fun. The fixed set-up series are a blast to see how well you can drive a car compared to the other drivers. Later on, you will be able to see how your set up skills are compared to others.

The majority of drivers are clean. Most crashes are accidents. (Of course, there are some intentional wrecks, but they aren't very common.) Knowing you, I think you just have to practice for a day or two, then start some races from the pits to get your safety rating up. By starting from the pits, you will dodge most of the first turn crashes, and should be good to go for a decent race. Personally, when I start from the pits, I usually have no problems getting 5th or better, and that's with maybe one small contact. You have to keep in mind that when you're in the lower level series, that the drivers are new, and mistakes happen. Retaliation is the worst thing you can do, because it will hurt your SR, and contact makes much more of a impact. If you hit someone, chances are, both of you will be spinning around.

Think of the iraces as league quality races on gt5, only every hour. Before long, you'll start to remember people, and you'll become more used to the cars, and it really becomes a lot of fun!

Personally, I truly think you would be incredibly foolish not to get the 3 month package now, because it's half off. I also sent you that pm with some codes that include cars and tracks.

Yeah, and you'd get your referral, D. But, yeah, I'm thinking I'll get it.

I just want to wait for my paycheck (à la Oct. 23rd) but that comes in plenty of time to still get the discount. Thing is, I need to pay my dad back for the work boots he bought me, to keep me safe during my work... Factories. Where the forklifts drive you, if you're not paying attention.

You will have a blast!

I would recommend it to anyone, sure it's expensive but the racing is so much fun. I just finished my first ever race in the MX5 Roadster and came 5th out of 15. I may have got lapped but I didn't care because I was having such a good battle with the guy behind.

You know you want it, we know you want it, get it or you'll regret not doing it!
:p

I am considering selling my ps3 and xbox360 to get a Pc after playing iracing at a friends house, I got spun out on the first lap and made my way back up to 8th and by the end I had the fastest average lap time about half a second faster than the guy who finished first. I was very proud of myself.

If racing games are your principal interest then go for it! You won't regret it!

PC offers lower quality FPS games, for example, Hennessey, so choose based on what interests you. In fact, I'm keeping both my PS3, and Xbox 360, for the games on console systems. Mainly, I want to keep PS3 for GT5, and 360 for Forza 2, and Forza 3... And Forza 4 is... :yuck:

I run iRacing at 160fps oh highest settings...

Also a PC allows more freedom in gaming. But I would keep either 1 or the other and have a PC.

Finally I was able to do a cuali lap under 59 seconds at LimeRock with the MX5, only had to adjust my DFGT FFB a little. There's room for improvement though as my optimal time is 58.702 and I know where to cut time, but I only wanted to brake the into the 58s as thats hard to do when you use assist like auto clutch because the game penalize you for it.

Why did you want to do that? you ask.

So I can say this to the iRacing staff who came up with this penalty sistem.

Now seriously, I was in a race last night where 1st and 2nd in the championship points and others fast guys were too, I started 5th (yes the hatred midpack:ouch:) and in the first corner somebody hit the lefth side of my car, I got a 0x incident and later it upgraded to 1x so the car who hit me ran out of track or something.

But its OK, I was specting worst in a rookie race. But the problem is that my car was slower after that. I normaly run low to mid 59s but I was only able to do mid to high 59s:grumpy: effectively preventing me from catch and keep up with the top three that were having alot of fun with a close race.:(

why when a race has potencial to be really good and fun there is something that ruin it most of the time? damn:irked:

After playing iracing forza 4 feels a little floaty now, I will wait to sell anyway because I have to play halo 4 and after thinking about it I will probably keep my ps3 for the last of us and god of war and I use a lot for blu ray films.

I am not sure what this is supposed to mean. Maybe it is a misunderstanding because as far as racing goes I can't see how anyone could ague that the PC isn't superior as far as "racing" and "simulation" go. For "gaming", well that is more subjective and a matter of taste.

FPS is first person shooter (Halo, Call of Duty)

I don't like them, but, it's worth mentioning. As Hennessey mentioned, Halo 4 will only be available for a 360, meaning that he wants to play console FPS games. I just wanted to remind him (or her, just in case.)

Some of the best FPS titles are PC based! Arma, Battlefield, COD and many more are available on PC and run way better than in consoles.

Ah, I did misunderstand. I've got racing on my brain :)

I don't really like FPS games much, either, so I only like racing...

I have to use auto clutch because the DFGT doesnt have a clutch pedal. How does it penalize you? I guess it doesnt shift as fast? Im used to it so i never notice a difference but it might make sense.

a long shot but, does anyone know what a decent Late model @ Infineon cup time is? I'm in the high 1:21s

It doesn't shift as fast, if your looking for pedals with a clutch I can sell you my thrustmaster t500rs pedals anytime :)

Today's idiot. Just got done watching the Sprint Cup race @ Charlotte so naturally i wanted to do some street stock afterwards since its also at Charlotte this week. Well some guy decides to brake check me during the warm up lap, yes the warm up! Had to start the race in the pits and drove a lap down the whole race... some people.

So, I'm going to get iRacing after all. See you guys soon. Referral going to Polarbear345.

:)

I'll be using my G27 pedals, and a pretty decent PC, albeit an Acer. :yuck: It is somewhat new, though, and we just re-installed Windows. So in short, it's up for the challenge.

Plus, my internet's at 13-20 mbps, depending on usage/time of day, so the internet's up for the task.

One thing, though: is heel/toe downshifting accurate in this game? I'm having trouble with it in GT5, because of the thing with neutral. :indiff:

Yes. I don't use it but I seen videos on it.

You have the cuss pack to? I just got it, only going to use it on ovals, funny stuff. Both street stock races I've run tonight I was caught up in some stupid wreck... top 5 both times.

MrMelancholy15
And the ones you use? I find that the G27's brake and throttle pedals could be re-adjusted a bit... *inner mechanic talking complaining*

I use a DFGT.

I have a question: apparently there's a rebate code for the 50% off of the year membership. What's the code? Can anyone PM me soon?

There's a thread on these. You can also get nice deals on stuff for good prices. Have a look in the section and you will find it easy.
