Uh oh..

I made a custom paint scheme, saved it as a .tga file, etc. The only thing I can't figure out is how to get it on the car in the sim.. any help?

Save the file as your customer id number.tga (i.e. 123456.tga and copy and paste into the car's file something like documents>iracing>paint>cars>[type of car] and paste there

My antivirus software has spent a little over an hr just on paints and it hasn't even gone up 1 percent in the past hr but it's been quite a few GB.... Uh oh

This also marked the first time in an iRace, an oil spill took out a majority of the field... Sorry, guys, my fault. I guess hitting a wall at 200 km/h will destroy the entire engine bay... Leaving fluid everywhere.

This doesn't happen in iRacing. Track conditions are static, we don't get oil or fluids on the track. If they all wrecked in that spot, it's because one person made a mistake there and there was a chain reaction. Unless you were being sarcastic, in which case, a smiley helps. :)

:dopey: Like 7 cars were destroyed by "swerving."

Anyways, why doesn't the Star Mazda stay straight at Road Atlanta? What can destroy this oversteer?

Read the little notes that are shown when your mouse hovers over an arrow when making a change in the garage and just play around with it in test sessions

I did... For just under 40 minutes, and it only got worse. I softened the rear, added rear toe-in, added rear downforce, took out front downforce...

The braking bias might be the problem, but, if it's not the fronts locking, it's the rears, but I can't get the "perfect" threshold, since the bumps in the braking zones are tossing me about.

Then bump up the front bias if the rears are locking first, double check tire pressures, tire pressure is basically just a very sensitive spring rate change, 1/2 pound is a few hundred pounds of spring rate

My computer is acting up real bad, I got this on startup
AF7A6A1A-78F3-4A74-AE63-F6CBC70B2C64-11018-000038C56B273F53.jpg
and it loads really slow for whatever reason, it was working fine before except a loss in frame rate recently

That looks like a corrupted HDD. - Not necessarily a big problem, possibly just some damaged sectors.
Go to 'my computer', right click the drive (C:) and select 'properties', then 'tools'.
Click 'check now' under error checking and select both boxes then click 'start.
Re-boot your computer. When it re-starts you will see a lot of the same screen text and it may take a while to finish depending on whether or not / how badly damaged the drive is.

If the damaged sectors have anything that's system related in them the whole computer will slow down.. a simple disk check could fix a lot of the problem.

Well, you might want to PM Tony Gardner and let him know that iRacing has spontaneously evolved to include dynamic track conditions so they can stop working on that aspect of the sim. :dopey:

:dunce: Lunatic! I know I'm a lunatic, but, that's a bit far-fetched.

as it turns out it was a virus and everything appears to be up to speed(sort of). While Avast! was running it's full system scan and boot scan I managed to watch the entire Le Mans movie link that Mac sent me on an iPad and the scan and movie finished at the same time, everything regarding the post ford era of Le Mans makes so much more sense now, thanks Mac:tup::)

Anyone here up for a Hosted Race? I might host a Star Mazda race @ Zandvoort or Sebring, for Christmas/New Year holiday fun.

And, speaking of which, Merry Christmas, Australian iRacers! (And every one else in the time zones of tomorrow.

P.S., it won't be today or tomorrow, it'll be after Christmas (Jan. 3rd or such)

Does anyone know roughly how big a file size each car and track is and the initial file size? Basically I have 70gb free on my hdd so wanted to know if that's enough. I'm only planning on sticking on the road course.

I was really, really slow, in the Jetta, until I found out about Tab. It's a well-kept secret of iRacing's elite, apparently.

I've been on iRacing for over a year and never knew about that feature.:dopey: Thanks:tup:

The McLaren at Silverstone is a blast. With the car being so forgiving and the high speed turns it equals smiles all around. The car is so ridiculous. In a good way. I see it being popular for a long time to come. I just hope it doesn't take away Vette and FGT drivers. I still prefer racing the Vette and still have yet to give the FGT a proper run.

Ohh yes, I think that's enough 👍

Tradingpaints Mac, download it, install it and run it a couple times a week to keep your folders fresh!

edit: Treeeeeeeeeeeee'd!

BTW Mac, make sure your computer font size is at 100% not 150% or something else because the scroll thing won't work on the downloader otherwise

Many of the Vette drivers are serious about it and they have sticked to it for many seasons now. I am on my first season with the Vette but I also prefer it to the McLaren even if it is quite nice to drive.

For the Ford GT though, the participation was already pretty low and since the performance of the GT and the McLaren are so close I think it will have an influence. But like many people say it would be nice to have 3 saturated classes instead of 2 Vettes, 2 GT and 16 McLaren's or so... like it is now with the HPD lol!

it's always going to be like that with every series, people will realize that one care is slightly easier of faster to drive and people will eventually funnel into one series once one person does it, the 2 people follow, then 4 people... then everybody, except the few who really like the other car. Riley Vs Mustang, Vette vs GT turned into Mclaren vs GT, and HPD vs vette there will always be that 4:3 ratio in everything, give or take once it all evens out with the mclaren, unless one car is just a pig to drive and everyone knows it

I'm really hoping the coming updates to the steering and tire models will make the Ford a lot more enjoyable to drive.

What's the problem with the Ford? I'm really close to picking a GT car and had my mind made up that the Ford would be it (way bigger fan of the Ford GT than the Vette in real life) but it doesn't sound / look very appealing right now.

In a Vette vs. McLaren contest the McLaren wins (also due to the real life car) so I guess the answer is right in front of me, but only becuase the Ford seems like the wrong choice at this time.

I guess I could solve everything by just jumping into the McLaren :)

The Ford is a good car, problem with it is that the line between fast 10/10 driving and spinning out is gery very thin. On top of that participation is very low and the fixed setups are horrible. I haven't tried yet but right now the McLaren looks to be the car to have, participation is high, it'll probably be in more than 2 series next season so yeah that's the one I'd go for right now.
