MUCH EASIER.

The Spec Racer Ford and Skip Barber are two of the hardest cars in the game to drive (in my opinion at least) simply because of the off-throttle oversteer. The McLaren is one of the easiest cars to drive (to 90%) in the game and the DP isn't far behind.

Just remember that with faster cars things happen much faster, that's a bit challenging until you get accustomed to it. But actually driving them up to about 90% of their capability is much easier. The only easier car I can think of would be the HPD, which is now even easier thanks to the update (much more difficult to spin in 2nd gear now).

I plan on racing a series full time this time around, probably the GT series with the C6R. Im gonna need a lot of tracks, but hopefully it will be worth it. Whats everyone else running this upcoming season?

Do it, the Corvette is very nice. Plus the people are always the same from race to race. The guys from Team Falcon (Marcel Weimers, Kay Kaschube and their team) decided to share all their setups so you have access to the fastest. And the races are 65 minutes long if you do open setups!!

I'm thinking the same. Participation is almost guaranteed to be huge with races hourly by the sounds of it.
The challenge for me personally will be to fight off the fast McLaren drivers and try to keep up with the Vettes. This will be one series that I will definitely run qualifying. Would hate to start in the middle of all those MP4s !

I'll do another season in the V8SC too. Not sure if I'll get moved up a division though. How is that determined ? By irating or previous series results ?

I think I'll be in the Skip again. I really enjoyed learning it last season, so it should be good getting started knowing how to drive the car from the start.

I drove the C6R last night for the first time (with real effort) at Suzuka and really enjoyed it. It's surprisingly friendly!

Actually Jav I did sneeze while making my flight plan this morning about that time.......
Didn't you post a mclaren setup a few days ago Jav? I can't find it, do you have a link back to that post

And tyrgaus, the brake pedal travel is short but it's measured by pressure. When you calibrate it in iRacing, how hard you press down is full braking, when you stop not when the pedal stops. However, beware more pressure means more fatigue (play around with it in test mode calibrating it and you'll see how it works) I stop just past travel stop, the loadcell continues to sense the level of pressure even after pedal travel stops. You also can change your preload on the damper, just don't unscrew the barrel by accident, mine's about halfway down the threads

Anybody figure out the new TP? it opens and closes instantly, the first time it opened and I set a few settings but it's not doing anything anymore just closing as soon as it opens

Thanks alot for the help! This realy realy helped me alot with understanding how they work. And now I am WAY more consistent with the new pedals!

WOW! I just tried the FW31 with the new pedals. That car is amazing with these pedals! Feels like they are made specificly for that car!

So, Interlagos is pretty fun. Fortunately there were loads of hosted sessions for it so I've got some practice with the McLaren there, which is great because next Monday I'll start in a league championship with it and the first track used will be Interlagos. The rest of the championship follows the Grand Am series' calendar. I've ran it with the High Downforce setup because that's what we'll be using at the league, it's not really suited to it, you lose around two seconds per lap compared to custom setups, but it's fun either way.

Also got the Silverado. I was playing with it on Saturday, practicing at Daytona, and decided to go for a race. When it loads up the track changed to Charlotte. I just changed the setup to Charlotte fixed, tried a couple of laps during warm up and went for it. It's not really that hard to control it, some people say it's so tail happy that I was expecting it to be much harder. I think I'll have fun racing it in the fixed series every now and then this season.

Has anyone used the CSW? I am really considering getting one now that my GT3RS V2's Alcantera is completely worn out. Should have used racing gloves more often lol. They aren't available yet on the Japanese site but, the pricing is really strange. The Wheel base itself is the same but, the pricing for the wheels is the opposite of the US. The formula rim is $180 in the us and the bmw wheel is $250. While in Japan the Formula rim is $250 and the bmw is $180?

I have the CSW with both rims. I love mine and highly recommend it. I've owned a lot of wheels since being on iracing, logitech momo & DFGT, Fanatec GT2, CSR, CSR-Elite and now the CSW. The CSW takes the cake in my opinion. Much smoother and the rims are so much better. Plus the extra immersion with changing out the rims with different cars is awesome.

I always qualify for all my races and suggest other to do as well, but if you don't you wont start in the middle of the slower classes. Now the classes start by order like it should be. The fastest group first then next fastest etc. So if your in the vette and don't qualify you will just start last of the vettes. Back a few seasons ago though it wasn't like that. It's how you are describing. If you didn't qualify you started in the back no matter what the car. as you can imagine it caused right much chaos especially in GT prototype where you would have some HPD's starting at the back of the grid.

The divisions are determined by irating.

I'll be running the GT Challenge in the MP4 and the HPD in the Fixed Proto & GT Challenge series.

Same here. I don't know if I'll be doing full seasons in both, but these will be the 2 road series I'll be running. We are in pretty different times zones but maybe we will be in some races together.

Are the DP, McLaren, etc harder to drive compared to the Spec Racer? Or how much harder are they to drive?

It depends. The Spec Racer is very easy once you get to know how to drive it, and with its slow straight line speed it is easy to get used to on any track.

The McLaren is also pretty easy because it is so forgiving. For example if you get too greedy with the throttle it will slide but it is controllable.

The DP is a bit more difficult in my opinion. People will say, 'oh it is one of the easiest cars to drive blah blah blah...' but that is because it has a lot of aerodynamics. Yes it is easy to drive, but if you want to be competitive with the 'big boys' in the top splits then you need to push, this then starts to cause problems.

In the Spec Racer, I find throttle steering works really well, it also hates the brake, you can never be fully on them entering a corner or it will spin out, at least in my experiences.

Thanks for responding. I'm still a bit confused about the pricing from the US to the Japanese websites lol. I guess I'll see what happens when they respond to my email. I've been reading reviews for awhile now on the CSW and everyone says that it is just amazing. I think it's time for an upgrade now that my GT3 has practically no alcantera* left. And I think the bearing must be broken because when I turn it on, it has a really loud annoying noise. The CSW is bloody expensive though. That's the only thing that I'm a bit iffy on.

We will probably be in some of the same sessions! I usually play with my teammate and old karting friend who lives on US East coast time zone. So, it's very likely. Although I will have to miss the second week as I will be in India.

Has anyone heard anything more about what they are going to do with the 2.4 Daytona fiasco? I lost close to 100 iRating. In "my split" there were only 16 people who completed at least 1 lap and only 3 who completed more than 4. They finished 12, 35 and 69 laps. Hardly a race.

I found out about the braking pretty quickly.

No problem. Yeah the pricing for the rims sounds like it's a typo and the prices are switched. It is an amazing wheel and it will only get better with new firmware and driver updates as well as more rims coming out and I'm sure upgrades to the electronics as time goes on. I agree it is a pricy wheel by the time you get the base and both rims or even with just one rim. That being said though it is worth it in my opinion.

Sweet! I'm on the east coast so yeah maybe we will be in some races together then. I normally race in the evening time. I just thought it was pretty funny you posted that because I just decided the other day I was going to run the HPD again some this season and also the Mclaren in gt challenge .

I was entered in the first race, but never did any laps and I didn't lose any irating. I would check on the iracing forums if you haven't already. Did you do any laps at all? Once the service came back up I joined the race and there was a couple people on track, but I didn't do any laps I just quit.

I'm now Class A in Road and Class C in Oval thanks to end of season promotions :)

Got my B oval license!

Also, is it just me, or have there been more people on iRacing as of late? There used to never be 3,000 people on, and now it seems like there is always 3,000+!

Some pictures from my Daytona 2.4 Split(a bit late, I know):

The GT field follows trough as some take advantage of the slower DP cars to build a gap early on ;-)

Thinking about running the V8 this week just to see how I do. The combination of the V8's unique driving characteristics and the fact that I've never raced at Oulton Park should be an interesting combo. :)

How would you compare the CSR-Elite to your CSW with the BMW rim. I had the Elite wheel and it was problematic. When I turned it to far in any direction it sounded a sewing machine and the vibration was very strong. Also I could not feel the dips or bumps in the road in iRacing, I think it was just to smooth. No doubt the motors were strong but as I mentioned they didn't relay a sense of the road, at least not like my T500's do.

I am still interested in getting a CSW with the road rim providing it is well supported.

First race in the MX 5 at Summit Point wasn't too bad... On the 2nd lap I got hit from behind which put me to 7th. Then on lap 10 I just lost the car and took a hard hit. Ended up finishing 9th.

Summit Point is a fun track.

4th place in my second race. Only two seconds behind of third. Averaging a high 1:26 to a mid 1:27.

Well all I can say is, I am going to have to get better at road racing! I love the grand-am series after being at Rolex24 but I tried the Iracing setup Mazda had with Mx-5 and short infield of Daytona and hit the wall in the long sweeper everytime.

I was thinking the same thing. I really miss that car and I heard that it has gotten a lot more fun to drive. So, I really wanted to drive the HPD again lol. This being said, after I run some races in the two series I have mentioned before, I will definitely be trying the DP or McLaren (Depending on if I have time for to make a set) in the Grand Am series as well. The long races are really attractive to me.

I'm not sure how great that lap is, only two people have qualifying laps and that would be #1. Only had a little bit of drafting from before Eau Rouge, up through it, and pass him before the turn. I saved the replay, hoping that I can record it and post.

I'd say it is a pretty decent time, I was running practice earlier and got down to 22.367 with an optimal of 21.8xx which is very well within reach. I'd say the aliens are gonna be running mid 19s?
