Just finished my first race of the season, decided to give the Ford GT a try on the Proto/GT fixed and wow!! I am not dissapionted, I am impressed!! The racing was crazy good and the car feels amazing!! I have to say, iRacing had done an excellent job with this car and the Fixed setups!!

Jumped into a practice session in the GT, wow what a great improvement. It felt "okay" at Suzuka, but it's fantastic at the Glen. I'll be racing it at least once this week for sure.

So I'm kind of confused with the new trading paints. I opened it once, it gave me the setting box and now when I click on it, it opens and closes really fast. According to the release notes it downloads the necessary files when you join a session? and so does that mean that there's no selectable subscriptions? if so, could I basically delete all the paints on my computer and it'll download only the ones that I see in sessions? and I assume that includes all sessions, league, official and hosted?
I would appreciate some sort of a run down on how it works, or a tutorial link or something:confused:.

what confused me the most was the 4th bullet under update fixes since I see no UI.

You are absolutely correct. You can delete all of the paints on your hard drive and it will automatically download them in session.

I've only used the fixed setups as well. Both Spa and Suzuka have felt perfect to me.

Edit: Re: Trading Paints..

This is interesting - "(Soon, this will be even easier for non-painters!) "

Congrats! Mazda Cup using some different tracks this season? Cool.

I just left a GTC practice where two guys were running 2'18s at Spa in the McLaren. Crap.

Nice Job!👍

edit: ok so I think I got it, when the program (TP) is opened it's only UI is the settings page otherwise there's no real UI if I'm correct

I'm probably being too literal and it's probably nothing but on the forum it says to open the program before joining a session but there's no indication that it's open, I thought it would automatically open when you joined a session.

I can't test it right now but I'll probably see tomorrow

You know, The Ford is pretty good now but it needs its grunt back! The car was dead on with current GT-E cars before the new physics. It handles great now, but it needs that power back! It should be pretty balanced with the McLaren...

The GT should be slower than the McLaren, as it is. Its running within 2% of the GT2 cars of its time, and remember the GT was a "backyard special" of Robertson, not a factory works car. It never performed great.

You can see that the new Trading Paints program is open because it'll be in your system tray.

Yes, but what will happen when the BMW does come out? That car was running those times on 2012.

You are correct, there is no other UI than the settings page, and in the settings page you can set it to start when you start Windows. This take little to nothing from you computer so I don't see why not use this feature ;)

Then the program is already running when you start your sim.

TradingPaint is not made by iRacing, but by fans like you and me, so make it automatic when you start iRacing would need some inside work by iRacing, and then TradingPaint wont be TradingPaint anymore. iRacing can't do this due to copyrights and people seem to ignore their rules about making paints. Like adding logos they find on internet and didn't get from their sponsor. Or at least permission to use their logo.

I also think I read in the rules alcohol advertisement wasn't allowed even, and how many people have driven around with Patron Tequila on their car :P

When TradingPaint is a third party program we aren't refused to do so, even if it's not entirely allowed :) Because then iRacing isn't the one "spreading" it ;)

Which cars are we supposed to be getting? M3, Z4, and a BTCC car? I thought the M3 was GT1, Z4 is GT3.

No, it's the GT-E M3 that ran ALMS on 2012, the team is swithing to an adapted Z3 GT-3 this year.

I've generally used my real life sponsors but have had little sponsors (Sparco, Brembo, BBS, Takata, ect) to fill up the parts of the car that usually have smaller sponsors. Guess I shouldn't do that anymore lol.

Well personally I love some of those cars with fictive sponsors, but also some are just stupid. Ive seen some cars with 2-3 brands of oil on one car.. I know this is for fun, but I doubt Repsol would like having Motul on the same car..

Nice paint job of course, but clearly a evidence the browser is a stronger tool to find logos than the knowledge of what to put on the car ;)

Also putting tire logo from a different brand than what the tires say..

I guess Michelin would have been really happy about it..

But in the end, it's about being creative..

Yeah, I don't put things that don't correspond to the car. For instance, I haven't put Toyota on any of my paint jobs because Toyota has not cars in the sim lol.

Is anyone else having framerate issues since the last update? Yesterday at Spa it was down to 30fps at some parts of the track. It might be because it's a multiclass session but I never had such problems with the HPD in the Proto & GT series.

There's also more stuttering.

The McLaren is running 17's?? I did a little practice and ran the Corvette last night in GTC and was just breaking into the 17's. I know I'm slow, and I'm using the spa base set, but come on. I did manage a 5th place finish, though. Had 4th locked up until I missed a braking point and spun with about 3 laps to go.

Have you run the series at Spa before? Spa is an INSANELY computer demanding track because there are so many trees. I can't say that I've noticed any changes in the FPS or stuttering.

Not the GT Challenge series, but I did run the Proto & GT there before. And I know Spa and Suzuka are more demanding than other tracks but this is horrible.

Love the lap 1 hero’s. I passed him on the outside into the corner and he just hits me. Ruined my race and I’m probably going to lose a lot of SR as my car was un-driveable. :grumpy:

Well lap 1 in a long race is never meant to be a sprint. Maybe an outside move into a corner wasn't the best idea but I don't really know, I wasn't watching the race. But by no means am I blaming you here, because there are quite a few lap 1 hero's, just take the 2.4h of Daytona Split 1 on Friday, I do believe someone in a DP decided to go three wide at the start line.

But just keep it in mind, let them go ahead and they might just take somebody else out, then you will gain 2 or more positions.

I suppose so. I’m new to the longer races so I just need to learn to be more patient.

They don't know it.:grumpy: I remember when a guy tried to explain that the blue flag is not mandatory after he turned his car into me UNDER the fn blue flag when I lapped him on the ideal line...

In iRacing the blue flag is an ADVISORY tool. So don't expect every lap car or slower class car to just slow down and move over. It's the passing car's responsibility to make the pass safely. Don't just try to barrel through and expect the lap car to yield.

I've always hated that about iRacing... guess it has its purpose because otherwise the preotest numbers would increase by a million!!
