Came 14th in my split at the rock last night in the NASCAR series. Despite 7 mins of repairs after a close encounter with a wall. Great fun though and my first race finish o the season :)

The Rock is tough and awesome. Would love to run it with you sometime. I'm putting down .2's hot lapping with room for improvement. I can offer help as well as need help, (on the track that is). Loki will look you up for an invite if you don't care. If I can't find ya, look me up. I'm easy to find Robert Vincent. Answer to Vince.

Sounds good mate, I'll send a friend request when I'm on tonight.

I've never payed any attention to this game, mostly because of the graphics (yes I know, physics engine in this game is good), but after seeing this video:

I am wondering, HOW ON EARTH is it possible to achive such beautiful graphics??? Is this for real? I mean this is just outstanding.

yeah, nice vid. I think someone here said their is a mod to run this helmet cam?

I know nothing about coding and stuff, but to my eyes it is the lighting effects that make iracing look so good.

What games are you comparing it to graphically? I hope not GT5 or Forza, because the in game visuals of iRacing blow those two away.

Joie de vivre!
Also the environment and stuff looks so real, like no other game I've seen so far. Are this mod possible to get/install for others?

It's laser scanned, everything done is very accurate to real life.

Mod? For other games? Oh no.

I just bought the Gen6 car last night. I thought I'd jump on and get 15 or 20 minutes of practice in and be ready for Rockingham. Boy was I wrong! After running laps for over an hour, I was just barely starting to feel confident. And still not fast. Hopefully I can get some more laps in and give it a go tomorrow.

Among other things..

Was doing a GT & Prototype race at Road America in the HPD. Started in 5th and worked my way up to 2nd. Then half way round last lap the electric went off!! Absolutely gutting.

Any noobie tips for Laguna Seca? It's the first time I drive around LS with the MX5 and I'm finding it a very annoying track. My laptimes show my discomfort: I'm having a hard time getting under '57.xxx! :(

On full graphics iRacing is like that, minus the fancy filter and slight head movement.

Get the back end moving about into the corners. 1 and 2 just needs a steady line and consistent braking into it, 3, break firmly and get the nose right in, 4 slight lift, full throttle through, 5, like 3, get the nose right in and power out, 6, lift slightly, bite the bullet and power through, clip the apex but not the red stone thing, corkscrew, just brake hard late and make sure you hit the 2nd apex, then its a slight lift for 9 and 10 and hard braking for 11.

Sorry I suck at explaining stuff. Practice makes perfect. I can get 1.43.2xx using this kind of lap driving.

iRacing's graphics are excellent, they are just "sterile." You aren't going to find any fancy HDR or bloom or any of that other stuff you see in games like pCARS, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

What you are seeing in that video is post processing of a replay to get the graphics to look like that. That look isn't a representation of what iRacing looks like in-game.

Rockingham is very tricky as 1/2 always will fool you if you don't drive your line. It took me a little bit to figure out where to be fast, it, apex to exit of 1/2. I haven't raced the cup car there in little but same style works for most cars there. Bare with me as I as visually I'm off but right after the start/finish line you will want to brake where sponsor/name or whatever is on the wall, but very light enough to set up the car into one. You can slowly start easing into gas about midway through but don't floor it til you are straight out of the turn.

3/4 I tend to let off the gas about the time to setup for gas and as soon as it sets which is almost instant you can get back in it fully and run the bottom but allow it slide up a little.

Really struggling for speed in the HPD this week at Road America in the fixed series. I think it's due to the fact that they are running a relatively low downforce set on the car. I generally like having the downforce for my late and aggressive braking style. Usually only 1 second off the Alien times. This weekend I'm about 1.5 seconds off. Guess I'm just going to have to deal with it lol.

Yes it is, but it's good practice for the next round at Virginia, although, there probably won't be any split races there so....

Yesn it's why I choose Zandvoort instead of VIR even if I didn't have a lot time to play here on Zandvoort.

Spot on comments! Bloom can be suitable in some environments but I do not care for games that overuse it. to each his own...

Is it better to buy 3 pieces of content or 6 pieces of content? I'm trying to get a few more pieces of content but I don't know if I should buy 3 or 6 pieces of content for the discount.

Is there an easier/ better way to get your licences up to class so I can compete in my desired car events and potentially series, These boneheads in the regular rooms just chose to wreck you for lapping them, its beyond the joke, I hade my iRating up to 2.76 then in 4 races managed to get it down to .80 because this one guy continued to wreck people in the Charlotte event last week,

Start from the pits, and don't worry about finishing position, just get to the end of the races incident free.

The Kia should be due out soon right? It's supposed to be released Spring 2013 and that officially started the other day..

I played it EXTREMELY safe at Rockingham in the race yesterday. I think my best lap was like a 34.2 when almost everyone else was in the mid-33's or even low-33's. Just too many people couldn't handle the exit of turn 1-2 and would go right into the wall. I started dead last and just hung out in the back for the entire race because I couldn't get the courage to make a pass on the other cars since they were so erratic. I ended up finishing 10th I think out of 23, not too bad for being 1/2-1sec off the pace. We had a few good 30 lap or so green runs, but the very beginning and very end of the race were caution filled. I got aggressive the last couple laps and not surprisingly got sideswiped by a car spinning/pinballing off the wall and ended up 4 or 5 laps down but still held my position.

People just couldn't figure out how to stay out of the wall at Rockingham, and I just wanted to finish the race, so that's what I did.

3 gets 10% off and 6 gets you 15% off, if you can afford it buy big. :?)

I don't recall any Kia, what model would that be and who races it? I thought we were getting the Ruf next.

Kia Optima Race Car, races in SCCA, coming for the next season I believe.

Definitely this one before the RUF.
