No life, all I need is a wheel and 1 tv, it's just a game. You taking it through a whole another level.

These "no life" comments are always ridiculous.

Please conclusively define "having a life."

Go ahead.......I'll wait.

Oh wait, your profile says you are in high school. That completely negates your opinion of "life" anyways as you haven't lived yet.

I really hate when folks try to tell others to have a life, why does someone need to enjoy same life as you? I mean most think it's dumb to race basically from 7pm to 7 am but I do it or atleast from 6pm to about 2 am.

It is what it is, and if I'm happy then so be it.

Now back to important things. I'm debating on buying Martinsville for trucks, is it a wreck fest usually? If so I see no point.

Agreed, until its something like hacking, which them peeps seriously need a reality check..... Well atleast open a window,

But as for that rig, Easily $5000 of equiptment? If only, That's not a computer, That's artificial erotica

But as I've seen it stated several times in this thread, iRacing shouldn't be viewed as a game (due to its expensive DLC's) but viewed and enjoyed as a hobby, which comparing to other hobbies is reletively inexpensive,

Compare his setup to entry level motor racing, Here's what you already have most likely,
Internet connection, PC or lap top that is compatable, and bank / debit card,

The entry level motor sport, May have a helmet if you own a motor cycle,

iRacing, get a wheel, max $200 plus iRacing membership, $30 for 3 months,

Motor sport, get a suit, boots, gloves, helmet, fuels, go kart, tires, club membership, insurance, licences etc, minimum cost $7000 too $15,000

With iRacing, its your choice to purchase additional content, be it in the game or for use in your house to add to the experience,

With karting, you have to purchase things constantly, Tires, lubricants, motor rebuilds,
Then you have to pay for your towing vehicle costs,

If your stuck on a budget, for the thrill you can get from iRacing I believe its worth it, If you purchase things progressively then its not so steep, like for me $15 for a track I can keep for the duration of my membership isn't so bad, heck I smoke cig's and that bad habbit (in the process of giving up) costs me $20 a day,

Fantastic car isn't it. Thursday night 9.45 Aussie race is broadcast and has been getting good attendance. Get into it mate :)

I'd love to race in that series as well, but don't have time to practice 2 cars and race competitively. I do however have the time to help V8sonline broadcast, I think i'm in the commentary box with Matthew Hill for Thursday night Grand-Am. In other words, race so I have some action to call! :D

Well I've been thinking, I want to upgrade my wheel and pedals.

Don't know what to get, although I've thought a G27 and Clubsport V2 combination would be good. And maybe go for a CSE in the future.

Out of curiosity though, how much is a T500RS and pedals set worth?

Oh, G27 + CSP V2 is the best choice of those two. The T500RS might be a very fine wheel, but the main thing that keeps people from improving is pedals. Load cell is a "must".

I picked a hell of a week to decide I wanted to start driving the V8 again. Sonoma! I've never really gave the V8 a proper run in the past with only hitting up a one off race here or there. Its crazy how slow you got to go, to go fast. I know, makes no sense at all.

Awesome ! Looking forward to hearing you in the booth
(Don't sell yourself short , pretty certain you'd be competitive on a baseline set mate ;) )

So with daylight savings finishing next week , that should make the current 9.45 Thur race an hour earlier yeah ? hmmmmm.....

I forgot all about that, hopefully I can make some if it's earlier!
And plate88, I think the 2nd V8 race I ever did was at Sonoma, it was a nightmare. Good luck!

It would be nice to be able to test drive a wheel in game, there are differences across the board but what suits you is different. I'm not really sure at this point if know how to drive a wheel that was smooth because I'm used to how jerky the DFGT is which I'm sure isn't whats limited me overall.

I always see the nice wheels and wonder but almost would deal with issues I have with stupid recalibrate every race for my wheel (usually unplug USB and back in). I'm curious why it does this entering new session (I've never setup the Logitech profiler and I don't use 900 degrees either).

Thanks mate. Probably would go alright, but just really can't be bothered.

Yeah correct. So it will be 8:45pm, same if you race the V8s. That will move forward to 8:15pm.

Hey, have you ever heard of something called a 'Hobby'? People have these 'hobbies' as something to do to relax and get away from the busy life. Plus, all that stuff that he listed right there isn't exactly cheap, so he has obviously got the money from somewhere.

Think before you speak next time man.

On another note, I'm also running the V8 Supercar at Sonoma this week in Team Gridline's UK and Euro Time Friendly League. It is a lot of fun, especially when racing side by side through turn 1, 2 and 3 side by side. :)

Someone forgot to close the flood gate from the GT5 section again.. Either that or Roush keeps sneezing and making it break.. ;)

Martinsville is a wreck feat in the trucks. If you don't have the track I would suggest to skip this week. It is rougher then Bristol because of the low banking and power sliding that results from over steering. But if you really want a challenge and are not concerned with SR. Buy it and practice before going official and good luck.

Martinsville is a wreck-fest in any oval car. It's got a decently fast straight and very slow turns, that's a recipe for disaster. It will be interesting running the iRacing NASCAR Series there this week.

Now if anyone wants a blast. The B class fixed set at The Rock is breath taking. Absolutely a brute with a sexy feel to it. When you get it down you should love this track.

The T500RS shows that it is still on sale at Frys for $400. It is a very good wheel and better than the G27. I think the clubspot V2 pedals are a little bit better than the T500RS pedals. Nice thing about the T500RS pedals is that you can change the positions to F1 or GT style.

(does Frys offer rainchecks if a sale item is out of stock?)

D'oh, I now see that you are in Ireland. The T500RS sale listed is for U.S. afaik

Easy Skidmark 10 years ago when i saw somebody using a racing wheel i would have laughed about it. Now i spend alot into racing wheels and things.

Every serious hobby cost a lot of money it only starts to be a problem when you have more then one...:scared:

What you really need is a grammar lesson.

It's rather pathetic when this kind of a comment is aimed at a person who is passionate about a hobby/activity. I would bet that you haven't excelled at anything in your life because your too busy being a cool bad ass.

Ouch, harsh dude..

Wooow, one little comment I say you backing him up because you have no life either buying 2,000+ dollars of game equipment while you can just buy a real car. (which you probably don't and spend it on useless junk) Yeah you cool dude taking a racing game into a real life thing. Pathetic!
And who gives a crap about grammar on a gaming forum?

Bro you need to calm yo self homie. Seriously though, what kind of car can you buy for $2000? And having a half way decent grammar is actually part of the forum rules that you clearly read before signing up.

Please go somewhere else if you are looking to troll. It is his money he can spend it on whatever he wants. Racing in real life is expensive and the longer it goes on the more expensive it gets. If you have money, go ahead and buy whatever car you want and you can go racing if you want to.

I'm not trolling. I hate that term trolling. I'm just stating my opinion. It's nothing to get mad over. Everybody has a opinion.
